That's always been the fundamental problem with anything resembling an "empire", as opposed to a more natural ethnostate, based on tribal affiliation, language, common behaviour/beliefs/"culture" etc. Yes, you can have "minorities", but they have to be willing to think and act like the majority (before the majority can accept "looks don't matter".)

But even a natural ethnostate can become big enough where even those who look and talk alike start to think differently, and want something different, and like a single-celled organism, that society will want to split. The problem comes when there's nowhere for the new behavioural/cultural minority to go, and the majority wants to keep control of the land its got (wars of secession have been seen in both chimps and wolves, and they both ended the same way - with the "rebel faction" being destroyed after trying to claim part of the original pack/troop's territory. Not sure about the chimps (probably Goodall's), but the wolves were from Mech's Isle Royale studies).

Anyway, there's more than one reason behind the increased interest in colonizing space, and the climate change criers of doom are secretly drooling at Antarctica becoming freed-up land ...

If the red states split off and did their own thing, do you think in the long term the left would leave them alone?

That said people should start thinking about moving to states/regions more in line with their socio-political affiliation for the simple tactical reason that there is strength in numbers. And if you're in a Blue state that didn't flip Red this election (or were in a previously Red state that flipped Blue), you should assume that it will be Blue for at least your lifetime.

The letter agencies and pentagon will be given authoritarian power that will make Obamas illegal surveillance look like childs play. Economic and democide deaths are going to skyrocket. We already sat by and watched as governors knowingly killed thousands of people and then turned around and blamed trump. We know that these people are willing to do anything and brush it under the rug. I know for a fact that they have already drawn up an assault weapons ban, and are itching to push it through. They will classify resistors as domestic terrorists and waco them. The media will spin on all wheels and people will sit by because they would rather live in authoritarianism than die for freedom.

Yes.

Leftists already shot 2 Trumpers during the riots, injured more.

Every time leftists win there's misery and murder. Only takes time.

Look at the French and Russian revolution. Bolshies looted the palace and raped staff in the basements, killed the entire royal family including children. No arrests, no guilt.

No animal gets "left alone" in nature, especially not long term. The default state of man is to find a smaller, weaker tribe and take their shit. It's due to the proliferation of firearms among the population making conquest too risky that people decided to try out this crazy "capitalism" idea instead.

That's a great idea. Let's give the socialists whole swaths of territory they can do whatever they want with. It's not like their country would collapse, they would blame us, then use the hysteria as pretext to an invasion. ... Like literally every other time.

I think the most likely scenario is a Biden win, then the Dems playing the demographics game for the next four years, thereby ensuring a succession of Dem governments. I'd be very surprised if they don't pursue that in some way, shape or form.

However in terms of balkanisation, that eventuality would really leave the conservative 'faction' with no leverage at all. So I don't think splitting off is viable at all (appreciate it's just "thinking out loud", and same here).

I think a key problem you run into here is while the division is very clear, it's spread all over.

Even if you pick out a place that stands out as very conservative, let's say Arkansas--you've got fairly strong Democrat counties directly bordering strong Republican counties. Texas is even worse in this regard. Austin is not at all politically similar to pretty much anything outside of it's metro area.

So what do you do, split them up and force people to migrate?

State splits. At gunpoint. Giant red rural areas standing up and saying “No, we will not be ruled at the whims of a single city ever again.” They can give up their claim to the Senate, not like they ever had Senators in there anyway. But they will get to take their share of electoral votes.

I've been saying that for years. I have nothing in common with some fuckin' Portland nonbinary dyke, and I certainly don't want to live in the same country as one.

The US was always supposed to be a union of sovereign states anyhow. Any outcome of the election that further erodes faith in the electoral process, no matter who wins, is a good outcome in the long term in my eyes.

I'm not naive though. Its extremely unlikely that a divorce would be peaceful. A Civil War WILL eventually happen, if only because even if a peaceful divorce DOES happen, the left cannot permit dissent in any corner of the Earth and so they will attempt to use force in order to push their ideology regardless.

California is the state that produces the most income to the US

https://ballotpedia.org/California_state_debt

California had a debt of $151,715,007,000 in fiscal year 2015. The state debt per capita was $3,891. This ranked California first among the states in debt and 14th in per capita debt. The total state debt owned by the 50 states was $1.15 trillion with a per capita debt of $3,582.[1]

I don't think balkanization is the right answer, but we do need to allow for areas to reorganize themselves if they're not being represented properly. It might even take reform into regional centers of power that then participate in a national government, but as of right now constituencies are not being accurately represented.

I like my solution -- split up more states into North South East or West depending on the demographic layout. A bunch of Democrats move into Southern TX (like they are doing), make South Texas a state and leave them there to govern themselves, while North Texas remains free and red. Do the same with any other states where this is happening.
