The Japanese version changed too, so this isn't on the localization team. The old Japanese has ladylike, the new Japanese version basically says a little nicer.

The Party votes for who to lead next. There even used to be term limits, until Xi got rid of them a few years back (maybe 5?), which is precisely when China really started going off the rails.

Nobody was starving. In fact, most people got fatter.

They have many many decades of bad decisions, it's what happens when any logical objections are squashed. This is the regime that thought forcing families to have only 1 child for decades was a good idea. Totalitarian regimes that punish all dissent are destined to fall sooner than many other forms because the problems pile up, never getting corrected until there is a "correction."

I know this 16 year old boy who is really smart, does tons of computer stuff, does music recording and production, works on his own car (partially because he doesn't have the money to pay anyone), has a part time job, hustles side jobs, and gets good grades. Father isn't in his life, either, and he takes pretty good care of his single mom.

His friends are less talented than him, but they have jobs and cars that they put work into, one puts effort into writing and performing music (that the other guy produces) on top of working, though his grades are trash because he doesn't care about school.

This is in California, too; probably a higher density of boys like that in red states. Gen Z isn't a complete loss, despite what many might think. The best people like us can do for them is be good examples and get involved in some lives of younger guys.

I don't get how he could be missing that long in a place that isn't that big, unless he didn't tell a single person he was going for a hike in Griffith Park. It's like 4 square miles, much of it heavily traveled, which narrows it down a whole lot.

Sad story, but I guess a good takeaway is never go hiking alone without telling someone where you're going.

Because the groups are lead by Coyotes who are backed by cartels, and as much as getting stuff stolen sucks, it probably sucks less than picking a fight with a cartel.

If only they had a government that would defend them...

I need to buy land by the border to plant "freedom gardens", just as much of the most painful cactus as I can, create a natural, sustainable, eco-friendly wall.

At my school, there was a dance / physics double major. Not sure how she was at dance, but I had a physics class with her and she was mediocre at that, but still a lot of work to do both and she certainly wasn't stupid.

Also the best looking girl in the physics department by a looooot, so that probably got her opportunities after graduation as well.

It would seem that for a job where communication is so important, bring able to communicate in the language everyone speaks would be a necessary ability. Same thing for customer service and tech support.

The good news is fluency in English can land jobs. My friend is high up at a community College, and said the number 1 complaint they have for the math department is students can't understand the professor, so being fluent and well spoken can land jobs against foreigners.

Of course not, we learned from covid that the US funded biolabs are first and foremost to create bioweapons to attack the US, with the rest of the world as a secondary target.

The wuhan lab wasn't officially developing bioweapons, they were researching things like bat viruses and the possibility of them infecting humans. Practically and literally, however, they were developing bioweapons.

I'd assume they have them outside the US because there is less chance of a whistleblower or honest inspection done in even more corrupt countries.

I thought the media and radical leftists loved public transit; the trains are still running, they should just use them! Or maybe ride a bike, save the environment.

Ah yes, "democracy," where one side simultaneously stops counting votes in separate key states, kicks out all the poll watchers, then starts tallying votes in the dead of night with no supervision.

I had not one, but two history professors in college who moved to the USSR because they were convinced by their professors about how great the place was. One was in Russia proper during the early 70's, the other in the Ukraine in the early 80's, and both learned that the USSR was not what they were told. They liked the people, didn't like waiting in long lines for very limited food selection.

Most are probably fake, but for those that aren't, maybe this will wise up some fools the hard way.

I guess Ukraine elites miss out because I'm going to guess Putin is going to send less Russian tax rubles to launder than the US political elites were sending in US tax dollars.

I've been playing some JRPGs that let me use Japanese audio, and seeing the liberties taken with the spoken dialog makes me sad I can't see what the original text only portions were.

That guy ran a business where buying cement and steel wouldn't be too out of the ordinary, even if it was just a tire shop or whatever. Also, can still buy things with cash.

... But the point was stories can only be so buried, and people might end up remembered.
