Porn by itself wouldn't be the problem given that we've had thousands of years to draw naked women and even host sex shows.

It's the combination of feminism making women reject natural family roles and traditional values that made it into a toxic influence, not to mention a lot of the porn industry being focused on shoving trans and gay shit onto people through porn.

Get rid of feminist influence and I wouldn't be surprised if porn consumption goes down. The opposite will probably do nothing at best, lead to worse behavioural incidents at worst as they might copy the Muslim method of getting women..

Well there's also the breakdown of social cohesion on an industrial scale that's causing untold millions of people to become lonely and despair at even the prospect of finding someone to form a healthy relationship with. Hell even the unhealthy relationships are starting to dwindle. Is it any wonder porn use is so rampant? No one is looking to address the collapse of social health.

Because women are completely out of control and the second men have standards, women cry sexism & insecurity. This is 100% women’s fault.

Sorry for sounding like Imp

This is 100% women’s fault.

I've said it before on this topic, but it's more complicated than that. The argument makes no sense, if you consider the premise. And not saying you're saying this verbatim or anything, or believe it, but it's often something along the lines of what people mean.

Premise: Women are basically child-like psychopaths who have no agency or accountability...but also it's their fault they're out of control. If women are incapable of keeping themselves in check, men clearly share some of the blame for letting themselves be manipulated into letting women get so out of control in the first place.

As always on sex relations issues, it's a give and take. Women and men are different, and as such they each share some blame and responsibility for the current state of things. Men and women have both utterly failed to fulfill their roles.

If women are incapable of keeping themselves in check, men clearly share some of the blame for letting themselves be manipulated into letting women get so out of control in the first place.

The issue with that is we're so many decades/centuries off that the men you could blame are long gone. Modern men have modern women to deal with, a trillion dollar propaganda campaign to break them, and if that's not enough, the most powerful and massive governments the world has ever seen.

Our generation of men has never known what keeping women in check even means. Most couldn't even conceptualize it out of fear of being called a mushogynist.

The frustrating thing is that the "big conservative" types are still strongly influenced by feminism so that they essentially hold both the "women are completely capable" view AND the "men are to blame for how women act" view.

I think it's bigger than that, but you've certainly outlined a core component of what's gone wrong and needs to be fixed if we're to see any sort of recovery.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 25 ▼
– Kienan 25 points 1 year ago +25 / -0

It's also just too readily accessible, and too technologically advanced. Modern porn certainly isn't cave paintings or erotic art.

It also feeds on itself; access to porn in a healthy culture might be fine, but access to porn in a shit culture, with lots of shit parents, and shit standards where no one cares and there's no community, leads to kids starting young and getting hooked and stuff.

And, yeah, like you said, women being driven away from traditional roles also make men more likely to turn to porn.

It's circular; a destroyed society leads to porn consumption, and porn overconsumption further damages society.

There's no easy fix either. Even a ban wont have an effect for 10+ years. Not saying don't even try, but it's difficult to think-tank a solution. Because widespread porn consumption is more of a symptom of a deeper problem, than the root itself.

Prob need to separate boys and girl's schools. Build some mystery and walls between them. Girls would be more likely to be trad fem as they wouldn't be aping boys. Boys would have teachers that wouldn't have to supress the class for girls, and would be less likely to go femboy to compete with girls for attention. Basically the division of sexes would reinforce the traits you need to foster so they make for better partnering later.

What southern states are doing is a good first step.

Prove you’re 18+, not just with a wink, but actually verify.

Porn site are then removing themselves.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 28 ▼
– Kienan 28 points 1 year ago +28 / -0

Prove you’re 18+

Absolutely not. I've said it before, but that just ends online anonymity, under the guise of 'think of the children.' It's a very slippery slope to full on internet ID.

And, as I've said, it affects everyone, not just minors, since adults need to prove they're not minors, meaning everyone shows ID to access some websites. And what if it expands? It's a hop skip and a jump to demanding ID for other "adult" gated activities...like exercising your Second Amendment rights. "Government needs your ID to even look at gun content" isn't that far removed, for example.

Miss me with that.

Internet anonymity is one of the few good things the current landscape has given us, and we need to keep it, or we lose hard.

You have to prove you’re 18+ to do anything in person and many things online already. You’re either serious about combatting porn or you’re not.

People talk about the evils of porn until they got to wank it. Then they get super serious about privacy all of the sudden.

You’re either serious about combatting porn or you’re not.

You're either serious about free speech and internet freedom or you're not.

See? I can do it too.

People talk about the evils of porn until they got to wank it.

Two things. I love how the default anti-porn stance is 'if you don't agree with me you just want to masturbate.' No.

That doesn't even work, since I am over eighteen. Even if the government could completely shut down porn for anyone under eighteen, without hurting anyone's rights...well, I could still watch porn if I wanted to. So this 'you just want to wank' doesn't track.

You have to prove you’re 18+ to do anything in person and many things online already.

Yeah, but most of those aren't related to speech or accessing information, and the online ID is mostly for purchases which, again, is different than speech or information. Internet ID would be a disaster.

Then they get super serious about privacy all of the sudden.

I'm always serious about privacy. I thought everyone here was?

Porn is a massive part of shit culture. You don't have good porn as it degrades all parties involved and destroys men slowly. You introduce porn into any culture and it destroys the men and lures the women into it for attention.

Unfortunately I think you're right, it's why I'm ok with AI taking over that aspect just to cripple the real 'actors' porn industry.

But if we want to solve this without a mass chimp out, we need to both purge feminist ideology and purge religious organisations of leftist enablers.

I think most men would rather that be done at minimum even if it didn't solve their own personal relationship issues.

One of the specific things I’m noticing now is the mainstreaming of really ugly, regressive treatment in politics and mainstream culture—not just of women but of immigrants, gay people, trans people. There’s a resurgence of the kind of offensive and dehumanizing behavior that we saw in popular culture during the 2000s, and this time it’s not being doled out by gossip bloggers and celebrity commentators, but by politicians and people with massive media platforms. And my theory for why it’s happening is that certain kinds of porn have inured so many people to cruelty. So that’s one part of it. But when I wrote that sentence, what I was thinking about was how so much of porn has really enforced the idea that men should be catered to, in all aspects of culture. That concept is deep in the recesses of our imaginations, in ways we maybe don’t realize or can’t quite put into words.

Muh victimhood, men bad! Men can’t be victims, they’re the oppressors!

Of course! I’ve written for this very magazine in the past defending romance novels as subversive portrayals of female desire, female agency, female humanity. There is nothing wrong with smut. The reason I think and write so much about porn as a form of culture is not because it’s explicitly sexual. It’s because much of it depicts and encourages very rote, regressive, cruel, and even violent treatment of women, and there’s no way that these elements haven’t changed us.

But female porn depicts men and women so kindly right? 50 shades of grey? The bazillion rape porn books? The bazillion billionaire baby daddy with 6 packs who force women into sexual relationships books?

About a year or so ago, I encountered this fascinating analysis by the social scientist Alice Evans, who argues that the status of women in a particular society can be predicted by examining how that society prizes romantic love. So it’s not surprising to me at all that so many women enjoy explicit romantic content—it’s gratifying their desires while also affirming that they are fully human and deserve to be treated as such.

So she figured out pussy on a pedestal? Shocking that women almost, almost figured out why they are valued in society

Found your first problem.

...social scientist Alice Evans...

And your second.

...who argues that the status of women in a particular society can be predicted by examining how that society prizes romantic love.

Yes, sure, maybe. But which is the cause, and which is the effect? Higher value women will be sought after and "prized" more. Men will be more interested in pursuing romance with them. If a large chunk of women are absolutely toxic, however...of course women won't be as prized.

So you could turn it around and say the worth of women in a society is measured by how much romance is valued. Very similar, but also completely opposite.

"Social scientists" are cancer. They decided on a result before they even started the research, nine times out of ten...and I worry that that's being generous.

Anyone who thinks that, especially for such a reason, is retarded and deluding themselves.

It's like saying drugs are good because they make you feel good. People can feel how they want about porn, drugs, whatever, but dopamine isn't inherently good, and anyone who tries that logic is just coping hard.

Oh Good friggin Lord... "I grew up in the 90s and then everything changed in the 2000s". No you ignorant twit you came of age in the 2000s during your 20s and expanded your views of the world from the high school/college babysitting bubble you were in. Worse, she thinks all cultural history didn't exist before her...

tl;dr - Normalizing porn was a direct result of the sexual revolution in the 60s which itself is an outgrowth of the Womens lib movements from the turn of the 20th century. Playboy and Penthouse led the charge, first in print and then later by selling porn direct on video casettes to the home market where it exploded in the 80s. Then showing up on cable TV (skinemax) and then working its way fully into the mainstream with soft porn - all of which was tied into the concept of "puritanical attitudes about sex repress women and adults should be able to choose what they want do do".

The reason there was so much "sex" and objectification of people in the 2000s was because, after decades of it being a taboo, we had "matured" as a culture.

Now the reality of that was far different as to what it did to relationships between men and women and families (which had also steadily declined at about the same rate)

tl;dr - the leftists (boomers) GOT what they wanted but like all good little communists they deny that was what they asked for and "true communism" has never been tried.

Feminism in a nutshell. They are simultaneously empowered and without agency at any given moment until they decide which is more beneficial. The second porn wasn’t empowering it became a degradation of women with no agency who just keep doing it for money because they’re incapable of agency for themselves and therefore it’s men’s fault.

You can't make this up. Politics are shit because of porn, not because social media rewards controversy and considers tribal shitflinging the best kind of engagement.

If anything porn has been weaponized to normalize troons and immigrants
