Oh Good friggin Lord... "I grew up in the 90s and then everything changed in the 2000s". No you ignorant twit you came of age in the 2000s during your 20s and expanded your views of the world from the high school/college babysitting bubble you were in. Worse, she thinks all cultural history didn't exist before her...

tl;dr - Normalizing porn was a direct result of the sexual revolution in the 60s which itself is an outgrowth of the Womens lib movements from the turn of the 20th century. Playboy and Penthouse led the charge, first in print and then later by selling porn direct on video casettes to the home market where it exploded in the 80s. Then showing up on cable TV (skinemax) and then working its way fully into the mainstream with soft porn - all of which was tied into the concept of "puritanical attitudes about sex repress women and adults should be able to choose what they want do do".

The reason there was so much "sex" and objectification of people in the 2000s was because, after decades of it being a taboo, we had "matured" as a culture.

Now the reality of that was far different as to what it did to relationships between men and women and families (which had also steadily declined at about the same rate)

tl;dr - the leftists (boomers) GOT what they wanted but like all good little communists they deny that was what they asked for and "true communism" has never been tried.

Feminism in a nutshell. They are simultaneously empowered and without agency at any given moment until they decide which is more beneficial. The second porn wasn’t empowering it became a degradation of women with no agency who just keep doing it for money because they’re incapable of agency for themselves and therefore it’s men’s fault.
