Yep, exactly what I was going to say.

That is not a church of Christians, that is a house of churchians, and they will all roast in hell.

Not even, it's worse than that:

We are a theologically progressive faith community with a relationship to both the United Church of Christ and the United Methodist Church.

Heretics. Let me read up on that "United Church of Christ"

ACT NOW! This Womxn’s History Month, Christians Unite for Reproductive Rights. We know that when people have full bodily autonomy and reproductive freedom their families and communities thrive. Our country must safeguard access to abortion and the full range of reproductive healthcare. Urge your members of Congress to re-introduce and pass the Women’s Health Protection Act today!

These aren't churches. These are the anti-Christ attempting to rape Christians and suicide bomb them against Christendom

What's interesting here is that there were very few things that actually incurred God's wrath (despite what ranging anti-theist will say about the Old Testament), but sacrificing children to Ba'al was always a quick way to get punished, and ALWAYS angered God greatly.

Abortions are the modern day sacrifices to Ba'al.

That church serves Ba'al.

One of the most famous Bible verses out there pretty explicitly said, even in the KJ version, that merely tempting them into sin was so bad you'd be better off being thrown into the ocean with a millstone.

And since gays almost exclusively procreate through grooming and molesting, that makes them all fail that test.

United Methodist Church

I was just listening to a podcast that talked about them. Apparently, they have a bunch of churches in Africa that find their whole position so distasteful they actually want to leave the group, but the UMC wants to keep them in the fold for the diversity points, so they wont 'let' them leave.

▲ 10 ▼

This happens in the US too - UMC traps churches who want to leave with “Sure thing, your building costs $23M, pay up” type moves.

You can tell a women wrote that message. Autonomy & government historically doesn't go well together.

Our country must safeguard access to ... the full range of reproductive healthcare.

Which means genital mutilation for the mentally disabled is off the table.

Of course, it also means we can protect the baby's reproductive organs from being shredded & collected for stem cells by abortion. 🤔

Post-partum abortions, the left has been pushing for that for years now.

PKD wrote a short story where children were allowed to be "recycled" up to age (iirc) 12. Daemon Knight (iirc) wrote a similar one where parents could send their kid to "the adoption agency" no questions asked up to age 16. After 1 year there they were euthanized. So kids 15 and under were living it terror their entire lives. :x
In that one, a kids parents decide to go on a multi-year vacation to another planet, and it's too much of a drag to bring their 14 year old along, so they inform him he's going to the Agency. It's 'dark' to say the least!

1 Timothy 2 is a verse from the New Testament that reads, "I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet." This verse is often used to argue against women teaching or having authority over men in church settings, but interpretations vary widely.

I think the statement is probably slightly ambiguous when removed from context and not taken literally, but I think the Literal Standard Version seems more clear:

also the women in like manner, in orderly apparel, to adorn themselves with modesty and sobriety, not in braided hair, or gold, or pearls, or clothing of great price, (10) but—which becomes women professing godly piety—through good works. (11) Let a woman learn in quietness in all subjection, (12) and I do not allow a woman to teach, nor to rule a husband, but to be in quietness, (13) for Adam was formed first, then Eve, (14) and Adam was not deceived, but the woman, having been deceived, came into transgression, (15) and she will be saved through the childbearing, if they remain in faith, and love, and sanctification, with sobriety.

I don't think that "remain quiet" makes the most sense for the translation because it comes across as "shut up", but it means something closer to tranquility, gentleness, and a state of listening.

Although, I will note that this passage is none to appreciative of braids.

Depends on on what men are holding those guns and how they're holding them. A pair of uniformed soldiers, armed guards, militia men, or just some regular guys holding their rifles at the ready? That's good, means the place has men ready to keep everything safe and secure from threats both within and without. Two black or Hispanic men holding their handguns sideways while wearing do-rags and pants pulled down to their knees? That's really bad; means there's a a criminal element being allowed to run free.

Unfortunately, we all know these types NEVER refer to the latter. They want us to think those types of gun owners don't exist, and that it's the former who are responsible for all crimes in the country.

That was my church growing up. My family left them 30+ years ago because they were pro-abortion.

My friend's mom is a member, they treat the bible as a book of fairy tales- I'm an atheist so I agree with that but I don't claim to be a Christian when I'm clearly not one.

I'm in the same boat as you are. Grew up in that church, today I'm an atheist. Still have some family members who attend.

The thing that jumped out at me many years ago... I attended a Christmas service and the (lesbian) minister didn't say the word "God" the entire service. What's the point of going to church??

All these virtue signals do is literally put up a metaphorical "no guns here" sign. The ones who break those rules are never going to be the ones to follow them in the first place so all you end up with is a high density group that disarmed themselves.

True story, in Mexican law, all marriages are only official if they are done in a Catholic church by a Catholic priest. So there's a lot of Lutheran's, Mormons and others who got married as sort of Catholic.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 3 ▼

It isn't really the official church though, or at least hasn't been since the dissolution of the British empire. Progressivism is the official church, as for all intents and purposes... The UK is a colony of the American empire. Here in America we have official separation of church and state, which prevented any national church from forming and led to where we are today. With the "unofficial" but really official church of progress.

Some days I wonder what would had happened if the founding fathers had formed an official church, the Church of Americana. If they had accepted what was the norm everywhere else, and had a legitimate hierarchy, more akin to Europe.
