I hate EA but I doubt it will matter that much, their big money makers are their sport games. I still hope ME fails miserably and EA closes Bioware.
Woke crap is like the WNBA. Only way it can survive is if the more successful side of the enterprise props it up.
I get the sentiment, but the WNBA has been doing better now because they now have a player that's actually good to watch. Caitlyn Clark. She's a tall white girl, like an actual girl and all the black women in that league are PISSED she's taking the spotlight from her.
Look her up. She shoots 3 pointers at the men's NBA distance and even FARTHER. Opposition teams suck at defending against her because she fires from so far behind the 3 point line most teams never had any other equal in the league to deal with.
She's also a very smart player. She can spot players who get open and pass ahead of 'em (like the men can) - sometimes she thinks so far ahead her passes miss because her teammates don't think as quickly as she does lol
Every home game with her in Indiana is PACKED and sold out, and overall attendance is up because of her. She posts game stats that are in the double digits for points, free throws, three points made, assists, etc. She won the WNBA's rookie of the year (and the WNBA was VERY slow to mention her, took almost 2 - 3 weeks to mention her last after they handed out all these other shitty rewards)
Any games that are in the adjacent states get stuffed with Indiana fans too.
And of course, you got all these black female players who instead of being happy people are paying attention to their sport thanks to Clark, are just jealous she gets all the spotlight. How fucking typical of black women to always undermine others for their own selfish narcissism.
Well let's be real, also their selfish racism - they're pissed a white girl is outclassing her. Monkeys can't help monkeying even when it's just women around them.

More seriously though, one of the major differences between men and women is that men can compete hard then forgive each other and become friends again. Women can't switch their emotions up. When they get competitive, mostly they get nasty.
There was a study on shows of affection to the other team after the game concluded. Women are perfunctory and performative, while men are much more genuine.
That big stock drop isn't because of Veilguard. It's because of those sports games you mentioned. They lost the FIFA license, and their soccer game no longer prints money. That is what has the investors freaking out and tanking the stock.
This is it right here. EA consolidated to the point of only having 2 successful yearly franchises, and now those are both failing. The 3-4 yearly franchises are all dead too. (DICE's Battlefield and Battlefront come to mind).

They made 2 woke/MTX/ fortnight styled Battlefield games after, both largely unpopular.
We've been through an entire presidential administration without any news or reveals for the next Battlefield game, which is a long time to not have a new game cooking.

Veilguard is a one-off game from a franchise that hasn't put out a game in a decade. FIFA was their annual cash cow that combined with Madden to carry the entire company. But sure, it's a combination of 99.9% because they killed their golden goose, and 0.1% because Bioware put out yet another bomb.
There are orders of magnitude between them in terms of their importance to investors. Putting them on equal footing would be like pretending Bully is as important as GTA5 for Rockstar's investors.
I do agree that there's a chance EA might survive still. Bioware, however, is probably too heavily tarnished to keep around.
Regardless, if you had to estimate (or even wild guess) how much money Veilguard lost, how much would you say?
From a stockbroker point of view, losing 20% in your stock over a year is a tragedy. I think this WILL make a difference.

Not even sold. They used the word "reached" which includes all the subscriptions. I'm curious if they even made back development and marketing costs.
The game was in development for a decade. The only question is how much in the red are they?

The only good news that could come from EA is they're bought be someone NOT Tencent so that actual devs can use that IP.

If they were expecting 3 million units sold, then they were already expecting a massive flop. For a major AAA release, 5+ million is considered a very moderate success. The last Dragon Age sold 14 million.
The wokies want everyone to adopt Concord as the new standard for failure because then every other woke flop looks better. At fewer than 1.5 million “players reached”, Veilguard is a legit disaster.
Dead Space 3 was a failure massive enough to shut down the studio over a decade ago, and that needed 5 million units to meet EAs expectations of a "franchise." Even the remake at 2 million was so low they decided to not continue and remake everyone's favorite game in the franchise (which would have likely printed money).
So if expectations were that low, they were already cutting losses and just giving a number to not fire everyone immediately.

EA is gonna kill off their golden goose, sports game gachas, by being more woke. Like many say.. why would you buy gacha packs that comes with female players? Female players you never heard about, care and that some has as good as stats as Messi lol.
Well, if these female players came with the option of changing their team uniforms to bikinis while giving them bigger breasts and butts and better hourglass figures, then I'm sure a lot of people would be perfectly happy playing tournaments with the women's teams.
It looks extreme, but really it's just a slight drop from 6-ish months ago's low point. EA's stock was artificially overinflated by journos making false hype.

Every major game company has reduced to nothing more than a peddler of a handful of live service games now.
It's pretty sad how the West devolved into a rent-seeking economy. It's not enough to sell a good product; it has to leech money monthly too.
