Well, as the saying goes: If you can't be the best figure skater, then have your boyfriend break the other girl's knees.
More seriously though, one of the major differences between men and women is that men can compete hard then forgive each other and become friends again. Women can't switch their emotions up. When they get competitive, mostly they get nasty.
There was a study on shows of affection to the other team after the game concluded. Women are perfunctory and performative, while men are much more genuine.
