It'd honestly work fine if they just dropped the pretense that that work is worth more pay. Having someone to babysit administrative tasks and balance workloads within a team is helpful, just don't pretend it isn't a job a million other midwits could easily do and price according to supply instead of a strict hierarchy=pay scale.
While I worry about the potential horrors that may yet be unleashed by AI, I am glad at least that the abstract labor of bean counters being performed by algorithms will minimize the human element because the kinds of people who gravitate to these kinds of jobs are often so bad at it that the ship would be better off without a captain. Not that programmers can't be insufferable faggots, but subsuming managerial tasks under tech will probably be better for us overall.

Since most game designers have to be clued in about anatomy. How do you think they deal with having broad shouldered 'women' with large skulls and huge feet telling their blue haired fat ugly bitch selves where they lie on the complain chain without being able to moan because they've been played. That's not what that line is for. It's not a statement of independent thought. It's so when you report them to their employers for saying, "I work for XYZ Corp and everyone there wishes you would die" they can point to their bio and go "I wasn't speaking officially for the company, so it doesn't count!"

Community manager is a false job anyway. What great game would have been made even better with a CM? Absolutely none of them. It's completely out of place for a game developer.
If the dev team is open and transparent enough with its players, most, if not all of them, will naturally check their community on their own. Having a central point checking the community means this person gets to control what is transmitted to the dev team or not. As such, it's an incredibly attractive jobs for any activists.
Well the job basically entails spending 24/7 on discord. Who else are you going to find to do that?

Messaging the moderators used to get you a 72 hour mute, now it's 28 days. And now every time you get banned from a community, you almost always get a site-wide ban at the same time.
We used to have mIRC for chat. Then Discord centralized it, and then added phone number verifications. I've seen channels where they literally require you to link you Google and Steam accounts to 'verify'.
Can't use Twitter or anything without a phone number, so they can more permanently ban you.
This change is 100% so they can ban your entire PSN account for 'TOS violations', since they can't ban your entire Steam account.
