Community manager is a false job anyway. What great game would have been made even better with a CM? Absolutely none of them. It's completely out of place for a game developer.
If the dev team is open and transparent enough with its players, most, if not all of them, will naturally check their community on their own. Having a central point checking the community means this person gets to control what is transmitted to the dev team or not. As such, it's an incredibly attractive jobs for any activists.
