It'd honestly work fine if they just dropped the pretense that that work is worth more pay. Having someone to babysit administrative tasks and balance workloads within a team is helpful, just don't pretend it isn't a job a million other midwits could easily do and price according to supply instead of a strict hierarchy=pay scale.
While I worry about the potential horrors that may yet be unleashed by AI, I am glad at least that the abstract labor of bean counters being performed by algorithms will minimize the human element because the kinds of people who gravitate to these kinds of jobs are often so bad at it that the ship would be better off without a captain. Not that programmers can't be insufferable faggots, but subsuming managerial tasks under tech will probably be better for us overall.
