Good man. Great governor. Bad timing.

Pretty much my opinion. Let him turn Florida into paradise, and then spread it countrywide. I'm for it.

To nice for the current state of politics. Great guy, I honestly wanted him to stay in Florida. He is doing great as an example of non-left leadership.

He picked worse advisors and allies than Trump, and that's saying something.

Good actor, more like. His pandering and playing at diplomat while still in office as governor reeked of bullshit.

Nah great timing. He can run for President every 4 or 8 years forever.

He articulated kind of a different way, and kept on doing that until he gave up. He's bowed out early enough not to get in a drag out fight with Trump, whom I think he just endorsed.

This is highly concerning to me. I REALLY wish he or Vivek had stayed in until Haley gave up. As it stands now, with it just being Trump and Haley, I'm afraid that there will be a sudden increase in court pressure to get Trump declared unable to run and the RNC may start saying "Oh, well, Trump's disqualified and everyone else dropped out so I guess Haley is the candidate!"

permalink save report block reply
▲ 29 ▼
– Adamrises 29 points 2 years ago +29 / -0

The fun part about Trump's supporters is if the RNC doesn't pick him most of them will just cease to listen to the RNC, and that will open a conversation about why we are forced to vote for what these unelected "groups" decide are the only two candidates.

Which neither side wants that wake up, and is why the RNC even picked Trump in 2016 to begin with after their own pushed candidates failed.

I think the establishment would be more scared of an independent Trump than a Republican one. Suddenly, MAGA supporters, numbering in the tens of millions would be running around talking about building an independent party.

The Republicans would basically die, and independent populism would be more mainstream now than with Ross Perot.

▲ 11 ▼
– Adamrises 11 points 2 years ago +11 / -0

Yeah exactly. As much as the establishment will do to keep him off the ticket, they will eventually fold as the alternative is much worse for them. Keeping people within the system misbehaving is a lot better option than them escaping entirely.

Maxime Bernier has proven how downright retarded boomers can be when it comes to voting, so I honestly think Trump losing due to not being part of the RNC could be a civil war flashpoint.

Honestly this is pretty concerning now that I think about it. The left would rather declare that there will be no election and that the US is now a dictatorship before they'll ever allow Trump to be on the ballot. And then you got this Haley who is a literally who, totally unelectable. Guess we're gonna get 4 more years of Senile Pedo Joe (just kidding they'll put him out to pasture and make Harris the new president), cause they will never, ever, EVER let Trump win, no matter what.

Nah, worst case scenario for them is Trump gets back in and they just obstruct him into irrelevance for another four years.

I have never received any money for anything I posted anywhere.

I say what I think and feel.

I think DeSantis is a better candidate than Trump so I supported him. I think it is good he dropped out before the Florida primary. Losing your own state looks really bad if you want to run again in the future.

Iowa chose Trump and we will have to live with the consequences.

If Trump loses the general election, I will be pointing the finger at the people who nominated him.

If anyone still foolishly thinks I am a paid shill, go fuck yourself.

I have never been a part of or even a unpaid volunteer for the DeSantis campaign.

DeSantis would aim to govern America like Florida.

This is what he offered everyone.

There is no specific thing he had to offer to gamers.

Do you like what is happening in Florida?

Good governance, no COVID mandates, no woke bullshit and protects your constitutional rights.

Why do you care about the GOP primaries when you live in fucking Britain?

Worry about your own country!

Labour will win a landslide in your national elections and Britain will be more worse off than even under the Rishi Sunak Tory cucks.

Winning a primary is useless if you cannot win the general.

I will laugh when you clowns cry on election night that it was rigged when Trump loses again.

he already basically tanked his future political careers and ambitions.

Most pro-Trump like him, and the rest will come around if Trump endorses him in 2028.

This sort of circular firing squad helps no one.

In 2000, GOP could choose between Bush and McCain. If you don't like either Trump or DeSantis, just imagine what a gem he is compared to that.

You're vastly overestimating his political appeal (and the results speak for themselves when he's getting fucking Nikki Haley numbers, who is literally just Indian Hilary Clinton)

There's a Leviathan soaking up all the votes, many of which would otherwise go to DeSantis.

This election campaign showed he has negative charisma.

I have pointed that out from the beginning, which is why I think he wasn't ready this time around. He should hone his skills for 2028.

Considering trustworthiness is a major issue in the Republican party, it damn well is helpful. Right now I trust DeSantis only mildly more than the obvious snakes, and he did that to himself.

That is just bitterness. If you look at his record, it's as if the candidate was made in a laboratory to be liked by you.

In early 2020, nearly everyone - including Trump - supported lockdowns, and for far longer than DeSantis.

Dunno about the tax increases.

Re: Ukraine. He had the right instinct, in saying that he didn't want to get involved in a border dispute in the east of Ukraine. The backtracking made me suspicious too that he is a closet neocon, but it was probably just the fact that the anti-neocon vote was already locked up by Trump. I bet he will make his anti-neocon position far more obvious in 2028 as Trump's successor.

Yes, which is why I didn't say that Trump implemented lockdowns like dim-witted Democrats claim. He verbally supported them, and criticized some governors for getting rid of them. Ergo, supported them.

Trump supported lockdowns for longer than DeSantis.

Which is OK, people can make mistakes. But DeSantis was rather good on the coronavirus far sooner than the rest of people.

Why do you think a massive loser in 2024 is going to be the candidate in 2028? That’s not how any of this shit works. Biden, a previous loser, had to be installed.

Reagan: massive loser in 1968, slight loser in 1976.

Of course, DeSantis is no Reagan, at least qua charisma, but your general rule definitely does not apply.

When Desantis went to Israel to sign a bill criminalizing speech, he showed himself to be a standard Neocon. No mere speech can or should be criminalized in the US, and no governor of a state should be taking a trip to a foreign country to sign a bill.

Ron DeSantis made the right choice.

The GOP primary electorate clearly wants to run Trump again based on the Iowa caucus.

I am proud to have supported Ron DeSantis in this cycle.

Trump has now won the 2024 GOP primary, now he needs to actually win the general election.

Man, as much as I'm not really a fan of DeSantis, as I was just commenting yesterday, his remaining job was to be a buffer against Nicki Haley. Even though more of his support will go to Trump, this will still make Haley look stronger, unless she gets almost nothing. It really is a two person race now, as Haley preemptively declared after her third place finish in Iowa.

Also..."We can't go back to the old Republican guard of yesteryear..." Then why did you run on that, Ron?

This is really weird timing, too, it seems. He had other states coming up, and ones he'd been campaigning and spending money on. I get wanting to get out before Florida, but it seems like he really jumped the gun. But what do I know, I'm certainly no expert. But yeah, kind of confusing move, and not a fan. He obviously needed to do this eventually, but I wish he'd at least outlasted Nicki.

And how he behaved like a little bitch by kicking independent journalists out of his events. And how he clearly had no control over some of his campaign staffers that went nuclear on people (for instance milquetoast Tim Pool) over nothing.

Also, the Israel stunt didn't help anything.
