But many experts say the only way Japan can really save itself is by ditching the "male breadwinner, female carer" norms that continue to undergird policymaking and corporate management.

Lol this is why nobody trusts "experts"

The "experts" are encouraging more women in to the workplace, this will only make things worse. it will reduce the income of the workers as there would be more workers in the work place and it will also make women less willing to marry as they are too busy with careers. You of all people should know that these "experts" are bad faith activists

Traditional families are not a larp. They are in fact the building block of any civilization worth the name.

On a societal level it's actually simple, although not easy. Civilization used to work. Now it doesn't, because several of the things civilization relied on to keep working were changed by leftists under various dishonest pretenses. Find those things and change them back, then identify those responsible for punishment.

Regression, as the proverbial they would call it, is the sole path forward to repairing society the world over.

and it certainly wouldn't apply to a modern society that's been undergoing enormous changes for the last few hundred years

See, there is absolutely a debate that could be had about this. Have technological advancement, scientific advancements, etc rendered systems that had worked in the past as something that might not work now? Its certainly something worth discussing; we shouldn't assume the answer is no.

But,

Trad larping isn't how humanity operated for entirety of human history

This is probably where you lose the vast majority of readers. I guarantee this statement has much more to do with whatever very limited-in-scope definition you are attributing to the term "trad larping" than it has to do with the notion that humans didn't exist within more traditional frameworks throughout most of history.

Correct. He's behaving like an absolute faggot who doesn't want to face the fact that a return to male and female roles is in fact the solution. I don't know why someone in this sphere would take issue with that notion, but here we are.

This is what you don't seem to understand.

All economics is what you would call "exploitative", because all economics is subtractive. This is the case because scarcity of resources is a stone cold fact. Absolutely inescapable. The law of conservation of matter is immutable, to escape it you would need to invent magic.

Trying to overthrow this fact, because a syphilitic old hobo from the 1860s said so, has lead to far more human suffering than the reality of scarcity ever has.

Why stop there man? We should eliminate money and greed. Nothing to kill or die for. And no religion too. Just all the people living for today.

This is simply not true though. It's insanely cheap to sustain trad families, the problem is that women are too materialistic and simply don't want kids because it reduces their consumption. The only solution to the child problem is to force women to be chaste, marry a man early in life and be the care-taker of children and the home, like our ancestors did in the past.

Dual-income parents doesn't make having children any easier, if anything, it makes it harder.

It probably will fail because they wont acknowledge the real reasons for the bad birth rates. Their birth rate plummeted twice. Once after the gender equality laws that was forced on them straight after ww2, the second time when they started using stevia in the 1970's when artificial sweeteners got banned. Stevia was traditionally used by South Americans as a contraceptive

– WhoIsThatMaskedMan 20 points 3 years ago +20 / -0

Stevia has only been shown to reduce fertility in rats at doses that would make most humans throw up. People who drink 12 diet sodas a day would probably be affected, but we don't want those people procreating anyway.

The reason for Japan's low fertility is its anti-male culture. Men are supposed to work 80 hours a week until they retire, at which point they're useless and should have the decency to die. Nothing is expected of women, so they spend their days sleeping around and complaining about the largely mythical train groping issue. Japanese men don't want to raise families with entitled whores, so instead they just nope out of society.

I watched a documentary that talked about Japan's own generation y/ early millennials as a lost generation. Basically, Japan has a college to work force pipeline system, but the economy crashed and a massive chunk of an entire generation couldn't find work directly after college. As it took years to correct the system this generation never got anywhere and got phased out of the system as the next crop of graduates came out and took the next group of jobs. That helped to kill birth rates for those 30 something year olds as well as they got left behind.

It's not really a gender issue. It's a labor expectation issue, and it affects women too. People work insane hours in Japan and the work culture is really toxic. Having children would just enslave people to more of the same, so why bother.

Feminism is one reason, stevia is the other. Like i said there were two drops in history, (just look at the links i posted) How else do you explain Japan's sudden drop in birth rates in the 1970's aka the exact time when they started using stevia?

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 14 ▼
– WhoIsThatMaskedMan 14 points 3 years ago +14 / -0

The exact same drop happened in America at the same time. The sexual revolution also took place during this time.

We recovered slightly and temporarily, but only because the religious right managed to de-shittify society for a couple decades. Japan hasn't had a unifying religion in probably a century, so there was nothing to stop its women from becoming trash that no man would want.

The whorification of the first world will be its death.

It is a fascinating correlation you found, but I don't think many people in Japan use any kind of sweeteners, unless all those clear syrups you can find at all the restaurants are made out of Stevia. I thought that was sugar or corn syrup. But even then sugar consumption there just isn't very high - one reason why there's very few fatties.

To increase the birthrate, you should take a fresh look at child labour laws.

The primary factor that decreases birthrates more than anything else is that we have created a world where children are money pits. In countries with healthy birth rates, children are assets, not liabilities.

Let children work.

With remote work, there is even less of an argument against it.

13 year olds can do TPS reports. 10 year olds can sort the mail.

How long will it be before it switches from “children can work too” to “children HAVE TO work too”?

Increasing the labour pool will drive down wages further (the way it did when women entered the workforce). Also, everything’s tending towards automation now anyway, there may not be actual jobs available for those kids. Also also, knowing the left as we do, I have absofuckinglutely zero doubt that as soon as children are working and earning their own incomes it will be used to further fracture the nuclear family, get kids to emancipate themselves earlier and usher in the “love knows no age” laws the libs are moist to sign off on.

How long will it be before it switches from “children can work too” to “children HAVE TO work too”?

Who fucking cares?

The white man conquered nearly three quarters of the earth during the centuries while children worked. Then children stopped working, and our population instantly began to stagnate, and then shrink.

Fixing the birthrate is of existential importance. No price is too high to pay, for the alternative is oblivion.

Our birthrates would be higher if we banned the pill and abortion for anything but rape, incest, and dead mom/baby scenarios. Remove any gender-specific protections for women in the workplace as these do not protect them so much as give them ammunition to attack others. Disincentivize education for women. Any advantage given to women and girls should be eliminated. Sexism is destroying our culture and our birthrates.

Children can work with a parent's agreement in Québec ( well, untill the retards in governments ban kids picking fruits in the Summer "because other countries are judging us for allowing children to work!" )

White Québécois have a fertily index around 1.2 - 1.4 ( below the 2.1+ necessary for maintenance, below the 12+ necessary to match mass migration ).

Fertility of familes on farms, where children could still work, crashed too.

The problems run much deeper. The way we teach kids, what we teach them, how long we keep them in schools, contraception, physical inactivity making us less fit/attractive, culture, mass migration, government replacing religion as charity, wellfare, white guilt, male guilt, feminist brainwashing and grievance mongering, anxiety-inducing media, all of it contribute.

capitalism

There you go again, using a word that did not even exist until more than half way through the 1800's.

It was first used by English novelist William Makepeace Thackeray, where he used the word refer to the act of having capital. The word he had coined was then seized upon by communists.

Ask yourself, what IS 'capitalism'?

It is simply, just as Thackeray intended, the act of owning something. This is why Communists talk about abolishing private property.

Humans have owned property for all of human history, and private finance is not a recent invention, it has existed since the movement primitive tribesmen their goods and cattle.

'Capitalism' is the default state of human existence.

When you say 'Capitalists: Not once', you are regurgitating communist mindrot that you have been poisoned with.

Forget the word 'Capitalism'. It was corrupted by communists the moment it was coined.

Nope, your shit system that's been around for few hundreds years

It's not 'my' shit system.

It is what you have wherever you do not have tyrannical authoritarian rule. Think it about it for just two god damn seconds. How can you POSSIBLY abolish private property without the threat of violence?

Even toddlers in playpens can grasp the concept of owning their toys. Even DOGS grasp the concept of who the bone belongs to.

The communist, meanwhile, thinks the concept of an individual of owning something this is some kind scam dreamed up by the rich.

You don't even comprehend what you're arguing for or against.

They really hate the fact that Japan is still refusing to voluntarily destroy its own culture with replacement migration. Trying to bring the birth rate back up is what countries should be doing, but that would go against what the globalists want. They want every country to be the same, easily controlled idiots across the globe. It's why they allowed feminism to succeed in the first place.

No doubt they also hate the fact Japan refuses dual citizenship.

First solution is to ban overtime and fine companies that steal their employees family/spare time. End the expectation of extreme work hours and total dedication to the company, shame the corporations and CEOs for stealing time from the employees and establish a better life-work balance.

Their work culture truly is a parasite on their society. I work for a Japanese company in America and have a bunch of Japanese coworkers. My Japanese boss will stay hours after work every day for seemingly no reason. I try to tell him if he has some meetings, just attend them from home since they're all over the internet anyway, but it is like talking to a brick wall. He has a wife and 3 kids though so he is ahead of most on that front but all the more reason why he should understand he gains nothing by staying at work late into the evening.

This is a fake crisis. Populations ebb and flow. Corporations just want infinite growth and have hit an organic limit.

Without resorting to external labor, this is where megacorps make work conditions more attractive in order to attract more workers. Workers would have more pay and more free time and thus would be more likely to have kids.

Megacorps hate that. They'd rather import slaves from poor nations.

Because megacorps colluded and got more powerful than governments at the same time, and are no longer content with riding the cyclical waves of the market. They are pulling the same scam everywhere.

Megacorps are more powerful than nations and are spread out across all countries. I would remind that the E in WEF stands for Economic and it's driven by corporations (and indeed many of the usual suspects from the corporate world are involved in efforts like the WEF and the woke and climate agendas etc.).
