Like motherfuckers those men are almost certainly right, the vast majority of society does not care about their wellbeing, it only cares for what they can provide, not what they need. There's nothing good that comes out of opening up to people who don't care about you like that. This isn't just some tragic misunderstanding or flawed emotional repression on their part, they're just correctly assessing the society and situation they're in and taking the best avenue left open to them.
Unless they have a solid father/uncle/brother or that rare kind of friend you could unreservedly trust with your life savings, those guys probably don't have someone more likely to help them than take advantage of them.

I have close to 20 friends like that, guys and girls. I do think I'm a special case though, because I'm genuinely that type of friend.

Male disposability is a unfortunately reality of the human race. It used to come with respect and honor for those who can continued to contribute and protect society despite how quickly that society would cast them aside.

Because this has never been denied. What is denied is that men and women process emotions differently, and therefore solutions. The "popular" opinion is to treat men like they're broken women, aka "men just need to cry more/share their emotions". But the reality is that that doesn't really help men on the whole. That's why men make up the vast majority of suicides. Defective, bad psychological advice about laying yourself bare only to have that be used against you.

I noticed the same thing recently with academic takes on low birth rates in countries like Japan and South Korea. Instead of simply admitting that it's the fault of Leftism/liberalism, they simply reinterpret it as consequent of the persistence of a supposed 'gender pay gap', traditional views and on a few other things that I can't remember and which aren't really worth entertaining.
Anyone possessing of reasonable intelligence must see this as transparently false. For if the Left-wing narrative on low birth rates were correct, surely the birth rate should have much lower in the past (due to these factors supposedly reducing fertility being much more pronounced back then) rather than much higher, as they actually were. If 'traditional views' were responsible for low fertility, humans would indubitably have been extinct long ago. Ergo, Leftists are as full of kak there as anywhere else, and have nothing to offer as a 'solution' but more of the problem.
The moral of the Reddit thread is abundantly clear: it doesn't matter how much of an indictment of late-modern Left-liberal 'progressivism' a problem is, they'll find a way to twist it in their favour, leading to nothing more than a worsening of said problem.

Why is it surprising? This is the angle they've been pushing since the 90s to prove that "masculinity" is toxic and evil.
You are seeing it with the possibility in your heart of men deserving sympathy, they are seeing it as men being defective women who need to be "fixed."
I think part of the problem here is that people on Reddit advocate the Feminist Marxist Metanarrative of men as a class of evil, undeserving of sympathy or tolerance, let alone respect, and then claim that this attitude is the result of Toxic Masculinity.

Men shouldn't treat women like garbage, but they need to be stoic, disciplined, and strong; such that they can provide and protect those women.
HOWEVER, this is not where the obligation stops. Strong men need to teach women (because no one taught them before), that women have an obligation to men. That obligation must be to: inspire men, restore men, and build them a home/family/community.
Women can't do it themselves and no one ever taught them, so it's on us as their husbands and boyfriends, to demand it of them. And yeah, not ask, but to actually set the standard that they are to meet, and as a result we must meet their standards as well.

I'm a very empathic guy. When other people have problems, I don't want to hear them whine endlessly about them to me. Hence, I don't whine about my problems endlessly to them. Whining is a fucking waste of time that doesn't solve anything anyway, and people who do it don't actually want their problems solved; they just want a hugbox so they can be treated like God for a few minutes and to be assured that nothing is their fault.
