Kind of. It’s a pretty basic “What if Superheroes were all sociopathic dicks” story, and an amalgamation of all Garth Ennis’ hatred of superhero comics and the medium as a whole.
I kind of like parts of it, Garth Ennis is very hit-or-miss for me, but it’s all of his worst traits dialed up to eleven.
So the man who isn’t president anymore is still on his mind? I’ve read some of the comic books but I guess I’ve grown weary of super hero deconstruction. Is it worth watching? I’ve been reading some classic Superman and Spider-Man lately.
The third season did everything but explicitly say "Homelander is Trump and his fans are MAGA morons."
The last episode Homelander flat out murders a protester in public, and his MAGA fans cheer.
The Boys has been the only "woke" show I've kept watching, because the story and characters have been interesting, particularly Homelander, who is a fascinating villain played superbly by Anthony Starr.
It has typical leftist tropes (e.g. Christians are either dumb sheep, or perverted hypocrites), and I've let that slide, but I think the TDS has gotten too advanced for me to continue.
So if you don't like your superheroes deconstructed, and anything remotely conservative portrayed as Literally Nazis, it's probably not worth watching.
Thanks for summing up my thoughts on the show perfectly. This (plus an interview of the showrunner I recently saw) means I'll be jumping ship and won't return for the fourth season.
Literally no one talks about it in the slightest except when Homelander is involved.
They keep trying to up the ante and make him more and more villainous to combat his fandom, and it has failed every time because no one else is remotely interesting or likeable.
So if you are the type who can enjoy a show like that, its probably enjoyable enough.
Oh man, I re-watched DS9 this last summer and they took Gul Dukat from a complex villain/frenemy of the crew to an unredeemable shit by the end of the Dominion occupation of Cardassia.
It's pretty jarring when you bring watch the show and don't have years between the seasons to forget how he used to be.
Because Behr was butthurt Dukat was so popular and Alaimo was so charismatic. There's an awkward bit in the recent documentary where Alaimo says as much in an "is he joking or isn't he?" kind of way and Behr gets defensive.
As an outside observer (I haven't seen the show) I couldn't name a single character except Homelander. I don't think I've ever even seen one in a meme. From where I stand, all anyone cares about is that one character. Not that "morally gray Superman" is exactly a brand new concept, and in fact was done literally in MK vs. DC, but it's more interesting than any description I've heard of any other character. The males are all heckin' misogyrinos and the women are all sluts. Wow, riveting stuff.
Same, I've not watched it but several in my circle gush about it.
I have seen one meme that got half popular involving "The Deep" which was just Deep Thought With the Deep, just a pun on his name.
But from what I get Homelander is unique among the "morally broken Superman" concepts because of the whole corporate and PR angle that dominates his character, which isn't common to the genre in general.
I fucked up in school, man. I let the proglodytes convince me leaving all these nice Jewish lads in stitches (from laughter) was offending them somehow and didn't keep up with them much anymore. They were just keeping the gold to themselves.
I wouldn't call Maeve slutty. Her two relationships were the coerced one with homelander and the long term chick. They desexualized her quite a bit. I'm also a bit surprised they didn't screw up starlight any worse than they did so far.
It sucks because they were giving shit to the left quite a bit for a bit. They mocked woke virtual signalling a lot. I could even tolerate the stormfront arc. I mean those people do exist and they didn't conflate her with conservatives or anything. But then those last few episodes happened and it went off the rails. It's beyond "parody" or funny or anything now. It's just coked up tds now.
The Boys is a shit show.
It wasn’t even a very good comic tbh.
Garth Ennis is trash. It’s only natural that more trash works on an adaptation of his work.
What is it exactly? Just a lame Watchmen knock off?
Kind of. It’s a pretty basic “What if Superheroes were all sociopathic dicks” story, and an amalgamation of all Garth Ennis’ hatred of superhero comics and the medium as a whole.

It started out alright but has gone downhill in every aspect since a few episodes in.
A shame that they ruined a decent concept.
So the man who isn’t president anymore is still on his mind? I’ve read some of the comic books but I guess I’ve grown weary of super hero deconstruction. Is it worth watching? I’ve been reading some classic Superman and Spider-Man lately.
He suffers from TDS and like all of the leftist actors he acts like it is some brave thing he did.

What's the over under on them revealing Homelander is literally Satan to spite the fans, a la Gul Dukat?

Amen. Seeing what they did to Dukat, I finally understood why Damar drinks so much Kanar.
Because Behr was butthurt Dukat was so popular and Alaimo was so charismatic. There's an awkward bit in the recent documentary where Alaimo says as much in an "is he joking or isn't he?" kind of way and Behr gets defensive.
They've already pulled out the Literal Nazi, so Satan is all they have left.
But I think they are also somewhat aware he is the only draw they have so they aren't going full assassination on him.

I haven't watched the Boys, but I can buy that some woke shit might actually be entertaining if you root for the "bad guys."
Going into a Hollywood event and saying "Fuck Maga" is about as brave as going into a feminist convention and yelling: "fuck men".
Brave.
Hostages.
They need to bleat like lambs.
The guy who created Supernatural is acting this way? Kind of mind boggling really.
Never forget that to get anywhere in hollywood, you have to have rich, powerful, Jewish friends.
As soon as you understand that, everything else is self explanatory.
I fucked up in school, man. I let the proglodytes convince me leaving all these nice Jewish lads in stitches (from laughter) was offending them somehow and didn't keep up with them much anymore. They were just keeping the gold to themselves.
I never got past season 3.
Isn't this the one where a woman rapes a man to death?
Its also the one where the only remotely "good" supers are the slutty bi bitch and the uncorruptable pure good girl.
I wouldn't call Maeve slutty. Her two relationships were the coerced one with homelander and the long term chick. They desexualized her quite a bit. I'm also a bit surprised they didn't screw up starlight any worse than they did so far.

I don't watch it, but from what I heard, they didn't critique actual leftist values, only virtue signaling.
so brave
It's all so tiresome.
we are the resistance moment.
yawn
These people don't hate MAGA as a brand, they hate the literal meaning of the words "Make America Great Again."
Wow, how stunning and brave.
Unsurprising if you watched either of the last two seasons.
Someone's still jealous Big Daddy Trump never grabbed him by the pussy.
I will gladly continue to desecrate his show in making memes that he would absolutely hate.
People running a show whose characters are evil are evil themselves? Shocker!
Early lifer.
This man is the Martin Niemoeller of the 21st century.
How
Because he has extraordinary courage.
Who cares.
Enemy sentiments are immaterial.
Oh no, someone in Hollywood is a leftist? This is such a shock!!!
Anyone who is surprised by this is a blithering moron. No exceptions.
