Destruction of art was the first fully successful move. Moving artistic pieces of skill have been pushed aside for the nonsensical, scatological, and obscene masquerading as art.
I don't know if it really started with the Dada movement, but it's a pretty good point of reference considering all the other seeds being planted for global feudalism of the era.
It began with Post-impressionism and accelerated hard after that. Professional illustrators held out for awhile, all the way until the late 50's, and then illustration began to fail as well. It's been a horror show in the art world ever since.
