All the idiots who said pronouns were just craziness by college kids in academia and not affecting the real world, do you get it now?

HR in all major corporations is now infected with sjws.

I'm eventually going to get fired, partly because I'm not very useful and partly because my boss has serious TDS and I can only feign neutrality for so long.

But if I never get told to put pronouns in anything the conversation will go a bit like this:

Me: So I can pick any pronouns I want?

NPC: yes

Me: And everyone else has to use them when they refer to me?

NPC: yes

Me: Cool.... my pronouns are nigger and faggot.

I'm useful but not very compliant. And MegaCorp will take compliance over competence every time. At this point I'm mostly in it to find out what I'll end up getting fired for: woke compliance bullshit or WuFlu compliance bullshit.

no woke compliance bullshit is things like implicit bias training. WuFlu bullshit is things like mandatory vaccines, temperature checks, and masks.

I don’t even put down anything in my email signature. They are lucky if I sign off with my name. Like my name and email are in the sender info. They don’t need any more info to contact me than that.

Same here. I have no signature. Occasionally some supervisor will mention it and I just pretend that "Outlook must've screwed that up, boss, but I'll look into it today." Of course, I never do.

I have always been under the impression that signatures were for written letters, and e-mail didn't need it, since the sender's name is right there on the header, and it isn't the same as typing on company letterhead.

Didn't even know you could have an auto signature. I remember using taglines in the Blue Wave Mail Door days, but that was it. Heh.

But I don't use outlook or anything, I just use some anonymous web-based mail service.

Right now it still feels optional, but I bet in a year or so it will be compelled. "Why don't you have your pronouns, you aren't a Nazi are you?"

And then you report them to HR for demanding you conform to their gender binary.

If it reaches this point I'm changing my name to 24601 and stating that I am pronounless and must only be referred to by number. Even 'they' offends me.

Actually, pronounless sounds like a good idea to troll them with.

It makes perfect sense, too; if pronouns are no longer going to refer to someone's sex, but some abstract concept of 'gender' invented by Doctor Money, then pronouns are no longer a concept I want a part of.

If this is what 'gender' is to become, then I refuse to have a gender, and I refuse to be referred to as if the concept is in any way applicable to me. A 'gender neutral' pronoun won't do as it still props up the idea of gender as a valid part of my identity. I must be referred to without a pronoun in order to be correctly identified as truly outside the concept of Doctor Money's gender.

Problem is they will insist you put up your made up word in the signature.... sure you rise in the oppression stack but that puts another target on your back for leap frogging some other insane person at the office.

The principled thing to do would be putting male or female instead. Of course you would still get targeted by sycophants, but I think you'd be able to justify it to management.

I don't understand how they can compel it. Isn't forcing someone to be 'outed' (as trans) a cause for a lawsuit?

"I didn't want to have to come out as trans, but they forced me to tell everyone my preferred pronouns..."

I'd say even encouraging it could cross a line.

I hadn't even considered this before, but now that I've read it I'm somehow not surprised. As far as it becoming a requirement to remain in the corporate world - I'll dig ditches before I adhere to that shit... gotta draw the line somewhere.

Really I'm surprised I haven't seen the beginnings of this at my own workplace, but we use a standard signature people can't set themselves, so it would have to be all or nothing.

Email activism has been going on a lot longer than 2 years. 10 years ago people were putting a little blurb at the bottom of emails that said something like "consider your responsibility to the environment before printing this email".

This is just the latest version which now conforms to the latest social outrage.

Well, at least that particular message had a purpose in reminding potential older users (Greatest Generation, older Silents) that they don't have to print out everything in order to go read it at an easy chair or something. That was a habit some of them actually had. It just became a relic as that sort of old-school mindset .. died off.

This pronoun nonsense is just kindergarten-level nonsense with no purpose at all beyond annoying the fuck out of even the semi-sane.

HR is just a way to funnel importance into a single role.

If you have enough staff to warrant a HR, then you have enough staff to promote one in say five to I don't know... team leader, supervisor position who shouldn't be doing the standard till work like everyone else but the uuh I don't know, managing their teams.

I see so many team leader and store manager positions that are just glorified shop worker positions and shop worker positions that do bare minimum.

When I worked shop floor, we were all taught how to input orders for next week, load/unload and input new deliveries and collectively sort rotas, amongst a whole bunch of work now considered managerial. Sure we would have to wait for the team lead/manager to sign off on say orders, but that meant our manager wasn't on the shop floor doing bloody stacking! There even used to be a difference between a floor worker and a salesperson! (sales people's sole job was till work, orders, and shark roaming to pull sales, floor work was the "kids" work of stack, clean, Q&A)

Now I see shop floor staff basically equating to sweep floor, stack shelf, press the money button the till.

No disrespect intended to those who do shopfloor work, but it has gotten less responsibility but greater focus on "sales intensivity".

I feel like even "Regards" wastes others' time. Hold out. The more people do this, the more useful to predict whose head is screwed on. Make an effort to network with kindred spirits. When one of you finds or forms a company with a less dystopian working environment, that person will know who's a good fit. Also friendship can be a joy unto itself.

They will not compel you but if it becomes the norm then you will have no choice.

This is unfortunately the reality of Corporate America, to my shame I sometimes say stupid things about Trump so I do not get singled out in calls. The time of keep politics out of the office are long gone. I have to play pretend leftist as I slowly die inside.

My point is you better get used to the idea that you will have to put pronouns in your bio.

Think of it like chemo, yes it kills you slowly, yes it makes you sick to your stomach but it keeps you alive, being able to pay for food, housing and keeping your family happy.
