It makes perfect sense, too; if pronouns are no longer going to refer to someone's sex, but some abstract concept of 'gender' invented by Doctor Money, then pronouns are no longer a concept I want a part of.
If this is what 'gender' is to become, then I refuse to have a gender, and I refuse to be referred to as if the concept is in any way applicable to me. A 'gender neutral' pronoun won't do as it still props up the idea of gender as a valid part of my identity. I must be referred to without a pronoun in order to be correctly identified as truly outside the concept of Doctor Money's gender.
Problem is they will insist you put up your made up word in the signature.... sure you rise in the oppression stack but that puts another target on your back for leap frogging some other insane person at the office.
The principled thing to do would be putting male or female instead. Of course you would still get targeted by sycophants, but I think you'd be able to justify it to management.
And then you report them to HR for demanding you conform to their gender binary.
