It's hilariously clear that Iran has been preparing for this situation for decades, while the US has absolutely zero strategy other than "shock and awe."
How long before you won't be able to buy a "dumb" fridge?
It did seem to be true while I was on this past Saturday, but that's one day's data.
Someone on the main board pointed out that the discourse is a lot more based on Saturday.
Edit: A good example of the gen X mindset is Sargon. He is ranting about the government taking his money like some boomer right now on stream. Meanwhile, those of us younger than him have nothing for the government to tax.
I don't know. I'm a Millennial who doesn't make a ton of money, and the government still loves to take massive amounts of my money.
If you're working class or lower middle class, the government will absolutely savage you with taxes and then finish you off with inflation and high rent prices.
It's also funny that you kind of/sort of want to watch Star Trek Discovery after watching this episode. Just to see what caused this 'Burn', but then you remember all the trender stuff and you instantly lose all interest.
I'll save you the trouble. An alien child cries when his mom dies and it causes all of the dilithium in the Universe to explode, making warp travel impossible. Yes, it really is that stupid.
Also, they wanted him dead for his many blatant claims to Divinity. Modern scholarship tries to claim that this was tacked on in later times, but all of the canonical Gospels are full of Jesus making references to His Godhood in ways that His contemporaries would understand.
For all of the Leftist talk about the Christian virtue of alms-giving, they conveniently leave out this line from the Second Letter to the Thessalonians:
"For even when we were with you, we gave you this command: Anyone unwilling to work should not eat."
The modern welfare state is the opposite of this maxim. It rewards sloth and idleness, while it is harder and harder for the working man to get ahead.
The answer the charity question comes from a Bible quote, because this issue was present in the time of the Apostles.
2 Thessalonians 3:10 “Then, too, while we were with you, we insisted on this to you: that if anyone was not willing to work, neither should he eat.”
It's a devil's bargain. The architect of Ohio's Covid policy is running on the Democrat ticket.
Meanwhile, actual medically-necessary procedures are constantly denied by insurance companies every day.
It's hard to pick just one, but I finished Miracles recently, and it was a surprisingly deep dive into apologetics from a philosophical standpoint. I thought that it was quite interesting.
Just look what they did to the British after the British saved so many of their asses in World War II.
This reminds me of C.S. Lewis' essay, "Man or Rabbit?"
In short, it endeavors to answer the question, "can I just be a good person, without bothering about God and religion?" The answer is no, because atheism and Christianity have totally different views of reality. Atheism teaches that men only live several decades, while civilizations can last for centuries or millennia. Conversely, the Christian view is that men ultimately live forever, making their individual fates of more import than civilizations.
Lewis doesn't make the case that Christianity is true in this essay; rather he makes the case that if one truly wishes to be moral, one has a responsibility investigate to find which (if either) claim is the most likely to be true.
Gratitude. Like the gratitude that the Israelis showed the British after the British fought for their asses in WWII?
My take? Trump could do anything, and I wouldn't regret voting for him. Not because I'm a cultist, but because Candidate Trump was infinitely better than Candidate Harris. I will never regret voting for Trump, because based on the information I had at the time, he was the best pick. He ran on not doing WW3, Harris ran on doing WW3. Trump could do plenty of things to make me feel he had betrayed me, but my '24 vote was solid at the time.
I'm of two minds on this topic. On one hand, you're absolutely right about Trump vs. Harris, and we would probably be fighting in Ukraine if Harris won.
On the other hand, if we go to war with Iran, Trump will be perpetuating the same cycle that the other Democrats and Republicans have kept going for the last 30 years. Destroy Middle Eastern countries, create a massive number of refugees, and hasten the demographic collapse of the Western World. Frankly, I don't expect there to be a Western Civilization of note in the next 50 years if this continues.
Trump was elected precisely so that he could slow the collapse, at the very least. Seeing him hasten it in this way, make him look like an idiot at best, and a traitor at worst.
The common variable is autism.
It depends on the device. A lot of smartphones randomize the MAC address that they give out by network connection.
Pub servers are pretty bot infested, but there's a lot of active community servers out there.
Also, it recently got an upgrade to 64-bit, so it's better optimized.
The corollary to "Do not be judged" is "Be as wise as serpents, and as innocent as doves."
Jesus specifically commanded his disciples not to be naive.
Thats because Truth is one of the higest values in Christianity. Jesus emphasizes this by saying "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life." Conversely, Satan's chief attribute in the Bible is that he is a liar.
That is also part of what makes the Ten Commandments different. Most of the commandments are no terribly unique. Many societies had prohibitions against theft, murder, and adultery. However, "Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor." was not seen in other societies' moral codes.
Human beings have been able to accurately predict eclipses for over two thousand years. We still can't accurately predict the weather a week in advance.
Singing live was just the start of the issues with Les Miserables.
This video does a pretty good deep dive from a music nerd perspective:
Yes, he got booed at his own rallies. Why can't he take a hint?
Reminds of this movie clip from the 70s.
