Yet another property Sony snapped up that I'll wait an extra 5 years or never get to play as a result. I was really looking forward to Project Eve, especially after that fuckboy at Digital Foundry compared it UNFAVORABLY to Forspoken due entirely to it's protagonist being actually pretty and not a black lesbian side-shave like he wanted.
I hate Sony too much to buy any of their consoles ever again. So I'll grab a few streams when it comes out, sigh, and move on. Sad.
The best explanation I have heard from the start is that the Twitch admins are themselves thirst-fiends. Despite how stupid this is, it covers their many strange behaviors nicely. The comically soft touch (Amoranth banned for the 60th time in a year for only 24 hours), the willingness to invent categories for specific people, and the fact that the admins hang out in streams all the time and yet don't shut down shit that goes too far until far too late. Thus, some one (or several) admins are themselves deranged simps who can't see past their erect pee pee to run a business.
Now, an alternative theory that is more complicated, is that they are captured by the modern belief that women can do no wrong. Empowered by their sexuality, too pure to game a system, victimized by all of society for all of history and thus deserving a break. Some collection of these beliefs along with a fear of the media (who so far have been very willing to trump up any controversy involving a thot with her as the central sympathetic character) cow them into inaction, passivity, and enablement.
A significant 'meta' on Twitch right now by these chicks is to deliberately skate policy of mentioning porn sites by bundling their 'external links' (twitter, instagram, etc) within an externally served list that includes their strip-cam accounts as well. The explicit intention is to pipeline their easy-to-obtain audience on a popular site to their much more profitable sex hustle. Realizing this should have had the admins come down on them with terrible fury for fear of being implicated in a wide-spread grooming project, but they didn't. Were they more afraid of being the only culprits the media would mention? Do they perceive themselves as barely containing a no-win situation with placation and perfunctory micro-action?
I don't have a definitive answer myself.
He also thinks of himself as a "journalist and a historian." He's far above us and the fray. Just an academic observer.
From this you should not expect him to 'get' anything, and he won't. He's a hardened casual of the worst sort. One who believes himself to be a stoic intellectual.
He'll juggle some facts and names, do some leg work to write his book. And never come close understanding the subject.
Since the author was Solomon as he was aging and agonizing over the fact that he'd built his kingdom into something vast, powerful, and wealthy, and was about to die and give it to his recognizably worthless sons. This rings poignant.
They went to impressive lengths to demonstrate fundamentally that practical effects are perpetually superior and timeless in Fury Road. This is a cgi skin-suit, and an unwarranted, undesired rehash, down to repeating set pieces with inferior style.
This movie doesn't even have anything to bait you with. It is an obviously bad copy that prances around wearing the name of the real protagonist in the title ("A Mad Max Saga" shut the fuck up). Every moment of the trailer has you asking "What's Max doing though?"
All i can say is that I hope it was expensive. Very, painfully, expensive.
To the reader, it isn't. To the magazine, it's the difference between paying a human to write valueless tripe, and having the editors generate it themselves with between 5 and 10 minutes work. When you're 'talent' is indistinguishable from a random number seed and a prediction engine, you don't have any.
Interview people, research facts, uncover news. You can't be replaced by a machine being fed what to say if you're not ALSO doing that already.
Firstly, sheeeeeesh.
Secondly, Disney only does female characters one way, villains even moreso. Everything she ever did wrong was actually a man's fault. Everything else she did that seemed wrong, actually wasn't. Anything remaining about her is forgiven or ignored. See: all of them.
Lastly, by these same rumors, she's playing a gender-bent Silver Surfer. The decline continues, unabated. Even if she plays Frankie instead (a later herald of Galactus originally from Earth) Disney will confound the concepts on purpose to have their cake (representation!) and eat it too (it's totally Silver Surfer guyyyyss).
I know it hurts to meet your heroes, because it re-contextualizes the things you previously liked about them. You can read a book and think it's perfect, then learn a little about the man behind it and suddenly the secret meanings are unlocked, corrupting the entire work and souring your previously pleasant memories of it.
I imagine that's like finding the medium account of an author you thought decently of, like here. I haven't heard of this guy before today and I scanned one article and checked his previous headlines to arrive at the confident position I now occupy.
I speak harshly as a rhetorical device, I don't actually blame you for being disappointed after looking. I'm glad you did and brought it up. Thanks for the research.
He sits in what he believes to be a counter-culture position and takes potshots exclusively rightward. This guy is the epitome of homeless liberal who has unwittingly or intentionally entered the fray as a 'divide and conquer' agent such as we experienced constantly all through gamergate. He is worse than an enemy, he is someone who pretends to 'get' you before trying seduce you to the enemy camp.
Dismiss him from your consciousness with prejudice. I honestly question why it took this long for you to notice he was a fuckhead.
I was about to say similar. This is just atheists trying to make a new buzzword to stick on their religion. You can't kick non-conformists out of your club if your club doesn't have a cool name they want to associate with.
Though, I think they've chosen a poisoned brand. Electronic Arts has owned those letters for closing on 30 years in the public awareness, and we also know they are shitty fuckers. The smell will automatically transfer to someone trying to make a new use of the 'logo' as it were, I predict.
Expensive and unregulated are antonyms. Regulation does not make anything cheaper. If it is expensive while not regulated, then that is as cheap as it will ever get. Pick one to complain about, idiot.
Picture of monkey does not affect you and never will. People doing shit you think is dumb is entirely not your problem unless them doing that dumb thing means they won't do your dumb thing later because they'll have learned it was dumb. Or it will work just fine and you're the dumb one for laughing at it. Cry more.
I assume the imaginary restaurant is Beast burger, which worked just fine until it grew beyond it's ability to quality control. Kind of like every other chain. It just happened really fast and you wanted to point and laugh about it because that made you feel superior to laugh at someone trying something who wasn't you. Beast himself also shut it down with a quickness when it was clear it didn't work in many locations (feel free to wonder why).
All of the scams to date involving blockchain systems have been exposed by the users of those systems, not the government. Can you say that about your imaginary paper money systems?
Twitter was already a tech-bro invention before it was changed. So it was good before but not now? That contributes nothing to your 'tech-bro world' complaint. Might as well complain about it being Winter now here on Earth World while shaking your fist at a cloud.
Throw into this, that smurfing was incredibly prevalent in Halo 3. If someone was lvl 20 they were as likely to be a brand new account as they were to smoke everyone on the server without trying. As soon as you cracked into the 20s and higher, you couldn't avoid this experience of artificially low-skill-rank accounts piloted by literal terminators.
The smurfs were extremely toxic as a rule, because they only existed to maintain their rank with equal wins and losses so they could continue to beat up on players worse than them. They had to let you know they were better by pulling psychic shenanigans only someone with 1000s of hours would be able to do reliably before putting down the controller to let you catch up and beat them. Their intentional losses were where they'd shit talk the most because they had to make DAMN sure you didn't think they couldn't beat you.
A special kind of egomaniac was born in that environment, and it did the most to kill that game. I have a strong feeling that was not in this study's accounting.
I mentioned it sometime back in a similar discussion here. My problem with it was that it fundamentally is a hard sci-fi attempt at a cultivation novel. That is a genre of chinese fiction that I loathe, so when I noticed it was happening I noped out.
To explain slightly (but hopefully not give anyone the impression I'm endorsing it), cultivation dramas are those focused on a main character developing superhuman abilities through alchemy, meditation, magic, potions, and the like. It is overdone to the extreme both in number of works, and the navel-gazing of those works. The degree and speed at which the main character becomes a god is uninteresting and intensely masturbatory (and thus cringey to observe.) It is also generally a feature that there are constant philosophical debates that boil down to "Chinese is best" by misrepresentation of both their own arguments and all others.
Three Body is this by way of its main character, his ludicrous infallibility, constant power creep, and the many dialog examples where he performs meta analysis of the story with his opponents in actual conversation. The author also can't help but only allow Chinese characters to be good in the story that is fundamentally about the entire world unifying around an extraterrestrial threat. It gets accused of being 'based' because a couple of the villains are women, but I suggest not to put too much credit on that.
I've had this conversation of the pros and cons of homeschooling with many people over the years. It is always adults leveraging this complaint, and it is always "social skills" as the singular point of contention they bring. The most ridiculous this ever got was a stranger I met in a department store while we were both applying for a job. I was in my teens, she was in her 50s. The more she learned, the longer the conversation went, the more adamantly she asserted that a child is crippled by being 'excluded' from the 'necessary' experience of public school.
She's talking to me. The reason she's talking to me is that I have told her that I was homeschooled. The complaint she is making is that a person like me is definitely "socially crippled" and unable to interact with the real world. She is making this declaration in a conversation with me, the nearest example of what she is talking about. I don't know how blind to irony you can actually be, but I refer to this interaction as a high bar.
Of course the reason she and others like her raise this complaint is because that is the narrative they have absorbed. When I was coming up in the 80s and 90s there was a LOT of pressure to quit. Examples in media were always negative, special news reports regularly referred to "the new homeschooling fad" as something dangerous and scary, and the institutions themselves actively fought you constantly for daring to not be on the treadmill they had designed all of their policies around.
On the other hand. I have spoken to kids as well. My peers growing up and school-age kids since. Not a single time has any of them responded with dismay. They are often bewildered, that there is another way than the one they are experiencing. But they are generally, with few exceptions, envious. And I take their responses far more seriously than the old lady competing with me for a minimum wage position at the mall. There is a world-weariness brought by age, but there is one brought by first-hand recent experience, and I think the latter knows far more about how it goes down on the farm despite how young he may be.
ESG is a money laundering operation on the face. Created with the multi-goal of:
- Destroying the 401K program
- Perfectly in line with Obama's other intentional tax changes such as death taxes and inheritance rule changes, 401K is seen as 'savings for the rich' despite it being functionally the default middle-class retirement program. You can't reason with a socialist.
- Funneling public resources directly to political allies
- Perfectly in line with Obama's other tax scandals (Solyndra, Navada Geothermal, many many others)
- Institutionalizing socialism, subverting capitalism
- Like Obamacare, this is designed to create global background system pressure to normalize what would otherwise be recognized as nakedly communistic desires. ESG disincentivizes profit goals by replacing hard standards and qualification metrics with a series criteria that all fundamentally offer "be a democrat for a guaranteed 'yes.'"
BlueDrache is clearly the developer of this game, who was stolen from by someone with a camera, who was himself stolen from by @KC_GT_ posting this picture on some site, who was then stolen from by someone who screenshot instead of linking to that, who was then stolen from by someone named BlueDrache over on c/Gaming (no relation, obviously) who made a post about it before this similar post was made. His claim is iron-clad.
I have used https://keepass.info (or forks of it on various non-windows platforms) for over 10 years. I have no complaints and it has met my needs. The database is an encrypted file that is local, you move it around in the ways you want to move it around (I use a file-share). It will do version-synchronization in client (download new database you changed on another device, and merge it with your local file into one file that you share from then on). It will do auto-typing (username TAB password ENTER) but most websites these days deliberately design to make that annoying or impossible, which is unfortunate.
I specifically look at how attractive the females are in any game I consider as a test of the game designer's position on the axis of 'pleasing' to 'preaching.'
If they are attractive there is an indication that the designer is interested more in making the player happy than in converting them to their own personal worldview. If they are unattractive, they have taken a stance that is combative, adversarial, and impugning of their audience.
Style doesn't factor into this one single bit. You can simply ask yourself if the artist tried to make YOU happy, or they tried to buy off a political racketeer with their design intentions. You will have your answer easily so long as you are frank and discerning.
it saddens me how quickly the pitchforks were raised over this. It also comes across a touch hypocritical when some basic due diligence could have helped clarify much of it.
Due Diligence is literally the complaint you self-important fucknut.
Let's see the examples.
- Holdo, Rey, Rose : all examples of some of the worst characters ever created for totally different reasons each, and all from the same movie, tell me you're not a Disney fan
- Dumbledore : was made gay in an offhanded comment by the author that wasn't supported in the actual material for years after
- Larson's Captain : a bad adaption of the inferior version of a character whose greatest contribution to comics was dying to make Rogue cool. Rogue was such a better character they left CM dead for decades and nobody missed her
- Elle : made gay in DLC, downgraded to villain in her own sequel
- Black Panther : "shameless pandering" the character, downgraded to corpse in his own sequel and replaced by several females for some different "shameless pandering"
- Lady Ghostbusters : exist because Bill Murray wouldn't let a 3rd movie be made for decades, downgraded to "never existed" in their own sequel
Casting director admits 5 years later to doing something that was obvious from the first poster. We know, Sophie. We always knew. There's a limit to what is supposed to remain 'unconscious.' You literally ONLY made one good casting decision, and that was, we have found, because he went over your head and pitched himself directly to the producers hard for months before they said yes.
You are admitting to being the reason that losing that one cast member is torpedoing your show. I guess one way to get ahead of it is to claim you were trying to be a good Party member. They can't fault you for that, hopefully, yeah?
We had another video by this creator posted here about a year ago. In it, he blames the 'downfall' of SquareEnix on the rise of Tetsuya Nomura and the creation of FF11 (separately, but they're somehow related also). It was a very casual take lacking in facts beyond what he "remembered." I wasn't impressed then, and won't waste my time this time.
Also, this thumbnail is ludicrously insulting, and I presume based on his other videos is not related to the topic of discussion. Saved my click.
