We had another video by this creator posted here about a year ago. In it, he blames the 'downfall' of SquareEnix on the rise of Tetsuya Nomura and the creation of FF11 (separately, but they're somehow related also). It was a very casual take lacking in facts beyond what he "remembered." I wasn't impressed then, and won't waste my time this time.
Also, this thumbnail is ludicrously insulting, and I presume based on his other videos is not related to the topic of discussion. Saved my click.

Actually, it is related.
A quick summary: game journos hate games and all wish they were covering movies and celebrities instead. They want walking simulators with political messaging that fits their biases.
Some game directors, Kojima included, have either lost confidence in what made them great (Metal Gear Solid) and desperately want the validation of "serious" media like movies, or just never wanted to make games to begin with. And they'd rather suck up to Epstein's Hollywood friends than make stuff that the fans who made their careers like.
I like Ptolemy. I don't recall the FF11 video specifically, but his videos are generally 100% aligned with the sentiments of early GamerGate: gaming tourists get out.

I played some recent RPGs and I thought they were movies. The cutscenes are like 75% of the games these days. I swear Diablo 4 had like a 15 minute one and it was actually the only good thing of the whole video game. Modern video games are pretty bad.

To everyone downvoting the topic based on the title alone: it's the sarcastic and clickbaity title of the video, which itself is trashing and arguing against the rising trend of making games more cinematic and the industry's pursuit of the completely undeserved prestige of degenerate Hollywood.
Back in the day, I made several attempts to play through the Legacy of Kain series. The first one (Blood Omen) was fine, but I could never even finish the first Soul Reaver. To this day I'm still feeling an addictive craving to play them. I fucking hate the combat and the platforming - the only thing that draws me to this five-game series is finding out the full story of Kain and Raziel. The sole reason for the cult status of this series is the story, and this story was (by and large) put together by Amy Hennig, formerly of Naughty Dog, where she continued to make highly successful games that were more movie than games.
Not gonna watch YouTube summary videos, cause I don't trust any of the content-making failures to provide me with the full 100% of the lore coverage. Like, the first time I played it for a while, and then found out that if you spare enough human enemies, they will eventually stop fighting you and bow to the ground before you. I don't know how many YouTube Zeros have the knowhow to figure this out.
