Like quite a few things, polygamy is for an EXTREME minority, the only successful one I heard of is ironically, Wonder Woman's original writer. Every other one I hear about ends badly as turns out, they STILL cheat in that environment.
Every polygamist I've known has been disgusting, unfuckable blob and a willowy ultrasoy stickman.
A normal one on one relationship already demands a reasonably high level of maturity, fairness, trust, and communication.
Adding more one (or more) people onto the docket is only going to raise that threshold of required mental/emotional competence in order for things to not go to complete and utter hell.
Pretty much, not mention the damage on raising kids.
Kids get A LOT from having one clear male and female role model to grow up with. You diluting that with polygamy screws that up, it's like the inverse of single mother households where we have a lot of examples of that going wrong.
Polygamy is just "survival of the fittest" taken to its extreme end point. But that brings with it two problems.
The first is that we are letting women determine what is "fittest." And we all know what women find attractive is often bad for cooperation, backwards, and antithetical to anything except their pussy tingles. Nothing would ever improve in this regard until you have basically mega families acting as countries against one another, which is a whole different can of worms.
The second being that its inherently unfair. You are basically agreeing that the majority of men's entire purpose in life is to work for their elites and then die with nothing. They are technically weaker men, so under the criteria they "deserve it" but only the worst type of person (and women) would consider that acceptable whatsoever.
Its a failed system that people only flock to because it makes men feel like they are kings (if they accomplish the rare polygyny form) or it lets women be whores with fluffed steps.
Polygamy only works in extremely desperate scenarios, like Paraguay after they lost like 90% of their men to war or immigration when they lost the Triple Alliance War.
Emperors with harems had eunuch guards of them for a reason. The harem gals routinely wandered off and cheated on said emperors.
If an honest to god emperor can't command loyalty then what chance do the rest of us peasants have?
Yeah, most "polygamy" is just a woman putting up with a chad's skirt chasing. She's resigned to being either the main ho or side piece. If women have their own say they never share.
This wasn't true for the hunter-gatherer era, as we can see with hunter-gatherer tribes both in the wild west and still alive. This is only really true during the agricultural era, and that wasn't because of superior genes or anything but it's about what a shit show that would have been for humanity at the beginning. And finally, every dipshit who talks about the 80/20 rule and warlords owning women completely forgets that these warlords that owned women last about 5 years before being killed by men below them, as seen in Africa and the Middle East to this day. There is no world where you get to be king Conan with his harem, especially not in the violent world you wind up creating trying to have this.
Women want the validation of a relationship
Men want sex that doesn't devalue herself by spreading it around with tons of others. If men can't get that they won't take women seriously.
And women wonder why men are ghosting them, not taking them out on dates and not caring about them.
And then agriculture and civilization was invented. If you want civilization, you have to punish adultery harshly. You also have to make sure the average man has investment into maintaining that civilization. If that man does not have offspring, then what reason does he have to maintain civilization?
That's what these discussions always forget. Men aren't just machines that exist without emotion or motivation. Without any hope of improving their lot, most of them will either kill themselves, turn to hedonism or turn to burning it down. They have nothing to lose at that point.
So either he becomes violent and destroys things, or just grabs and takes the women any chance he can regardless of being allowed, like so many other apes do. Sure he might die for it, but he might also have filled his biological imperative and that's stronger than any fear for many.
That's basically where I'm at in life. I've been denied reproduction and a life worth living so why should I uphold the society that has stolen all of this from me?

It's just another reminder to me that a lot of people within reach of the levers of power would outlaw Jesus-loving monogamous married couples with more than two children if they could.
Heck, how many people still have grandmothers who would bake them a fresh pie from scratch or make a tasty meal that could feed a small platoon at the drop of a hat anymore?
I had that, and it was glorious. Every Saturday or Sunday, all of my grandmother’s kids would show up at my grandparents house with the grandchildren, and we’d have a massive meal, the adults would drink, the kids would play, and when dinner was done, all of the women would help clean up the mess, dishes cleaned and all. It was a great way to grow up, but it wasn’t uncommon in the 80’s and 90’s or before that.
It's also sad (and selfish) when your own grandmother ages out of hosting and cooking.

My grandmother was born in the late 1920’s so, she didn’t have that aging boomer thing going on. She was a great woman in every regard. Her family came first, she didn’t tell stories often but when she did, I wanted to hear what she had to say. She loved drinking and laughing with everyone, and she was one hell of a cook, right up until the last week of her life when she got stuck in the hospital after she collapsed in the kitchen. That generation was different than boomers, they were awesome people, I always enjoyed talking to WW2 vets and people from that era, sucks that they didn’t know what they were doing to their country by fighting that war, that they were empowering communist jews to take over the world, but they were still great people, just misguided and too trusting of their own government. What I don’t get is how boomers could’ve turned out so different than their parents? I understand boomers were the first generation to face major social engineering and propaganda programs put in place by communist jews, but you’d think their parents behaviors still would’ve worn off on them more, sadly that didn’t happen and we ended up with an entire generation of selfish assholes who got to exploit America at its finest, who then maximized their own wealth while selling out all future generations to do so, and now refuse to let go of power as they leave fuck all behind to their own kids. It’s disgusting.
