Like quite a few things, polygamy is for an EXTREME minority, the only successful one I heard of is ironically, Wonder Woman's original writer. Every other one I hear about ends badly as turns out, they STILL cheat in that environment.
Every polygamist I've known has been disgusting, unfuckable blob and a willowy ultrasoy stickman.
A normal one on one relationship already demands a reasonably high level of maturity, fairness, trust, and communication.
Adding more one (or more) people onto the docket is only going to raise that threshold of required mental/emotional competence in order for things to not go to complete and utter hell.
Pretty much, not mention the damage on raising kids.
Kids get A LOT from having one clear male and female role model to grow up with. You diluting that with polygamy screws that up, it's like the inverse of single mother households where we have a lot of examples of that going wrong.
Polygamy is just "survival of the fittest" taken to its extreme end point. But that brings with it two problems.
The first is that we are letting women determine what is "fittest." And we all know what women find attractive is often bad for cooperation, backwards, and antithetical to anything except their pussy tingles. Nothing would ever improve in this regard until you have basically mega families acting as countries against one another, which is a whole different can of worms.
The second being that its inherently unfair. You are basically agreeing that the majority of men's entire purpose in life is to work for their elites and then die with nothing. They are technically weaker men, so under the criteria they "deserve it" but only the worst type of person (and women) would consider that acceptable whatsoever.
Its a failed system that people only flock to because it makes men feel like they are kings (if they accomplish the rare polygyny form) or it lets women be whores with fluffed steps.
Polygamy only works in extremely desperate scenarios, like Paraguay after they lost like 90% of their men to war or immigration when they lost the Triple Alliance War.
Emperors with harems had eunuch guards of them for a reason. The harem gals routinely wandered off and cheated on said emperors.
If an honest to god emperor can't command loyalty then what chance do the rest of us peasants have?
Yeah, most "polygamy" is just a woman putting up with a chad's skirt chasing. She's resigned to being either the main ho or side piece. If women have their own say they never share.
