Insert Naked Gun head slap moment here.

There is no remake, because without Leslie Nielson there is no Naked Gun.

This is a Highlander III situation.

This. No one can fill his shoes. He is flatly one of the greatest comedians of the last century.

That and you just can't make that sort of movie these days. Hollywood is too afraid to offend. What's next, Blazing Saddles 2?

What was that comedy with Wilder and Pryor where one of them was blind and the other one was deaf?

See No Evil, Hear No Evil. Those two made some great films together. Silver Streak and Stir Crazy are classics too.

That's the one yeah. No way in hell that gets remade without fucking it up.

That scene where Pryor is upset because he thought he was white was hilarious

There is a Blazing Saddles tv show. You've never seen it but it exists and stars Louis Gossett Jr.

It's a continuation. There's a joke at the end where the new actor is at a photo of Leslie Nielson saying "Hey dad, I miss you."

What really surprised me is that, after they had several others doing the same gag, a black cop just looks over at the camera and says "Nah."

Probably still not going to download watch it.

"Leslie Nielson... Liam Neeson...

Sounds same, let's go."

Some Hollywood producer, probably.

Nicolas Cage would've been a far better match. Even though his style of humor's pretty different from the flavor in the original films.

I recently lamented they just don't make humor like that anymore. That said, I really don't want to see how they mutilate my boy in current year.

On a related note, I also recently found out you can watch the original series and movies on archive.org: https://archive.org/details/PoliceSquad/

Comedy movies have basically been dead for over a decade now. Aside from random independent ones that pop up once in a blue moon, there are no big budget comedies that are actually funny and haven't been for years.

You can't really make them properly when you have to ignore 50 elephants in the room to make fun of Drumpf or something or do a phoned in romantic comedy slopfest disguised as an actual comedy. Same reason South Park's crash out 2016 election season that ignored all the many funny things happening around Hillary Clinton was a massive flop and basically killed their show.

Not that I'm complaining, but when did archive.org become the new Pirate Bay? I've found a bizarre amount of video game stuff there, too. I remember when that website was mostly old, obscure books.

A Touch of Cloth is in the same vein.

It's nowhere near as good as Naked Gun let alone Police Squad, but it was kind of entertaining.

Basically the cigarette joke from name confusion without the rest.

It looks awful BUT a Hollywood movie being willing to use a guy in drag as a joke is a sign that things are improving.

Liam Neeson's head on the body of a school girl produced a chuckle, but I need to see more to decide if it's going to be halfway decent.

Probably should have been its own IP, not connected to the originals.

Who is this even for?

It's not memey enough for generation brainrot, and anyone older than that would find more joy watching the originals.

The OJ Simpson joke did get a laugh out me. Kind of shocked the execs let that one in.

The average trender in congress looks far worse than that. They blame cancel culture, but in reality, Hollywoke is unable to make a comedy movie, because the DNC (and by extension Hollywoke) already turned into one big clown parade.

It at least looks like an ATTEMPT was made but I doubt they have the writing quality that they had back with the original movie to make it work.

The shot of everyone kneeling to a picture of their own father from the original was the only thing that felt remotely like Naked Gun.
At least they didn't shy away from the OJ joke? But it was somewhat ambiguous, like it could be interpreted as not wanting to touch that with a ten foot pole.
Should've just made an entirely new comedy, I feel there's gonna be attempt to rely on lots of callbacks instead of being funny.
The cgi and murderviolence do not fit.
