She is a non-voting delegate to the United States House of Representatives from the United States Virgin Islands'

In other words she shouldn’t even be on the fucking committee in the first place

Prior to 2008, Plaskett was a member of the Republican Party, and was appointed by President George W. Bush to serve in the Civil Division of the United States Department of Justice.[3] She switched to the Democratic Party in late 2008 because she believed it was a better place to have new ideas heard.[4] She served as a House manager (prosecutor) during the second impeachment trial of Donald Trump, the first non-voting member of the House of Representatives to do so.[5]

Plaskett, the ranking member of the minority on the House Weaponization Subcommittee, attacked the alleged views of one of the witnesses, Democratic Party presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy, calling them hateful.

“This is not the free speech that I know of,” she said. She recalled a recent controversy over remarks Kennedy made about the coronavirus affecting some population groups more than others, among other past comments.

Plaskett continued: “Free speech is not an absolute. The Supreme Court has stated that.” (The Court has not restricted the content of speech, but a “time, place, and manner” exceptions for the way speech is expressed.)

The ranking member went on to claim that Republicans had not invited Kennedy to testify because he had been censored on social media, but rather to associate themselves with his controversial views. She also claimed that past witnesses interviewed by the committee, such as would-be “disinformation czar” Nina Jancowicz, had been subjected to death threats, and implied that committee chair Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) supported those threats.

She added: “They want to force social media companies to promote conspiracy theories because they think that’s the only way their candidate can win the 2020 [sic] election.” She said that Congress should be focused instead on issues like inflation.

My god, this black woman might be one of the least educated people I've ever seen in a position of power.

Kamala Harris has entered the chat.

Just go down the list of black Democrats. They are almost all this bad.

It’s hard to find a black official who isn’t clearly sub-100. Clarence Thomas might be the only one.

Disparate Impact Theory is the iron law of leftism right up until it goes against one of their sacred classes.

She must have not logged onto twitter for the first month of covid lockdowns when black people twitter was celebrating the protection melanin afforded them from the virus and how it was retribution on whitey for slavery.

The only speech that wouldn't be protected is immediate incitement to violence like if you were to say that white people should be targeted for a riot..wait dems have done that.

Targeting for potential violence for political beliefs, race, status, liking a drawing, the dems and left have been the biggest example of speech that SHOULDN'T be censored but SHOULD be prosecuted. That whole 'your speech is violence' shit is even more dangerous than Islam and it's retaliations for depicting Muhammad.

I don't even think calls to violence should be suppressed.

However, if you say publicly that you are going to break the law, you should be charged. For example, if you say "I'm going to murder X", you should be charged with attempted murder.

Don't like it? Don't make threats.

Context matters though:

A 10 year screaming through the Mike that he'll kill you for stealing his kill in a game is nonsense to charge anything with

A politician providing locations of their opponents and telling their followers to harass and even physically obstruct them should be censured at least.

The stochastic terrorism argument is fascinating. On some level, the revelation that government officials have done heinous things worthy of violence is a call to violence.

Neo-libs know their candidate cannot win a general election in a true democracy where voters have any kind of choice.

Even with media blacklisting him, RFKJ is already polling in the 20% range, possibly higher, but polling has also "paused" since late June.

The MSM is also targeting Cornel West as divisive and a "spoiler".

Biden/Harris are so unlikable that they cannot afford any competition.

The thing is, she's correct, as a matter of law.

Some speech is beyond the pail.

But, and I suspect this is where Plaskett heads off into fairyland, those limitations are small and strict in a free country.

Plaskett seeks to broaden them to people she merely finds politically inconvenient, demonstrating once again that the DNC is about as interested in "democracy" as the GDR was in being a democratic republic.

The only limit to speech should be advocating against free speech.

I'm not sure this makes as much sense as it did when our country's people were basically coming from the same culture with the same set of values.

This also comes from the idea that people would use FACTS and LOGIC to determine what the best ideas, as expressed by speech, are. This is a naively optimistic idea that doesn't appear to be borne out through the course of our country's history.

Similar to the second amendment. Take one look at the 85 IQ jungle of our inner cities. Do these people seem like they should have guns?

That's the most frustrating part...if our current gun laws were actually enforced equally...these people wouldn't have guns. They cry and cry and cry about 'common sense gun laws' while refusing to enforce the laws on violent repeat offenders.

These people can have guns...after they serve their 30 years in prison for all their criminality, or whatever.

It's absolutely absurd! I'm more pro-gun than plenty of the people outspoken about the issue; I think felons, once released, should have all their rights restored. But I also think people who repeatedly show they're not willing to operating within society without violating the rights of others should be locked up for a long time.

What happened to 'do the crime, do the time?' Get these animals off the streets and if, down the line, they show they're actually willing to reintegrate, all the better. But sweeping it under the rug obviously doesn't work, and they need to face the consequences.

Growing up when I had civics classes there was a frequent quote.... "I may hate what you are saying, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it" and I was taught that it is most important to defend the most vile speech because it is easy to defend what you agree with.

I think they deliberately avoid teaching these things in schools today. If we successfully outlawed CRT and every other woke commie ideology from the schools, the teachers would probably talk about movies and pop culture all day. Anything to prevent kids from learning about the actual structure and culture of our country.

I literally haven't heard that in many years. Which is incredibly sad. It totally fell by the wayside, and fell out of common use.
