McDonald's CEO: Burgers?

Who knew to be successful all you needed to do is make tasty food and not try to brainwash kids into a sex cult, this is sure to change the market if this came to the West /s

What I like about this article is the implication that McDonald's is profiting off of this. They make a big to-do and show of naysaying Russia, but if there's a binding agreement of this nature, money definitely changed hands.

Remember, McDonalds isn't a fast food company. It's a landlord. The McD's you go to are franchisees renting off actual McD, the landlord, under a pretty restrictive contract.

If McD is still the landlord I see no reason at all why they'd object to this.

Very restrictive. You know the website that exists solely to check and see if your local MickeyD's ice cream machine is up? That works because every major piece of equipment in a McDonald's reports back to HQ on a regular basis.

Answer: It's never up because it's a piece of shit machine.

It's actually a pretty good machine, it's just that corporate declared that they have to be taken apart every 8 hours. By teenagers. And then sued the company that built a kit to solve all the problems that caused.

And then sued the company that built a kit to solve all the problems that caused.

Isn't that the basically the of whats happened or is this a different event you're referring to?

Doesn't matter how 'good' the machine is if it's constantly broken though, across the country 11.65% are busted as of right now per that mcd's shake machine tracker site.

Yep, that's the company. Those machines were designed to be torn down every three days by a manager with training. Instead, little Johnny Puffsalot does it three times a day with not even a manual for reference.

As high as 20% in NYC and SF, and the vast majority in the US are reported as "inconclusive".

Given the context, I imagine "inconclusive" means "So thoroughly broken that it's not even able to submit error reports any more"

Yeah I was wondering about that. We were told Russia effectively "nationalized" the chain by giving the local franchisee complete control over their restaurants. This after McD's staged a boycott as economic warfare for no reason. Why would there be any agreement at all?

“Dah, comrade.”

So if everyone in my country agrees to burn down all the McDonald's could we then get the Russians to move in ?

Well.. yeah? If the demand is there then all they're doing is cutting out the middleman and reaping all the rewards.

Its not just McDonalds, but Starbucks, Coke and various other chains too.

And i'm not sure why people are saying now that the Russians will start getting fat, they've always had fast food with similar quality to the western world.

I'd recommend Britannica Politica's video where he visits Russia, gives an interesting insight into what its actually like over there (even though its through a tourists eyes)

Man, its really funny to look at reactions of people outside of Russia to things inside of Russia. The name of the chain was ridiculed by russians ever since they actually put it out(cause it sounds ridiculous in Russian), the food there became even worse somehow(it was just fat before, now it's not even tasty fat most of the time).

People who do this are only really for money short-term, they don't care if the chain closes in a few years, cause they would be able to tax fraud their money away, since their connections are too deep to investigate them.

We will start to see fat Russians in no time, they are shooting themselves on the foot, this was a missed opportunity for Russians to promote home made food instead of fast food. Processed, high in calories, saturated fat, sugary, and tasteless.

You are free to not eat there.

Besides, haven't you ever had a rough day and you went "damn it, I want something NOW"?

You are free to do that too.

It's quite the temptation to resist, yeah.

Definitely not something you should eat every single day, even if Super Size Me was completely fraudulent.

Just develop a crippling allergy to glyphosate and you'll never have to worry about the temptation to eat it again.

Personally I like to eat McDonald's about twice a year. Sometimes you just want some junk food.

I doubt it'll be an issue for one key difference compared to the most of the world: Russia is cold as fuck!

You're talking about certain parts of their country, mostly siberia where if you're engine fails on one of those long roads, you're dead unless you find shelter quick. There are parts of that country where having a bit of extra fat isn't a liability but an advantage.

Unfortunately that is not how it works, obesity is considered and illness all over the World, in the USA, Russia, Somalia, etc, in addition, it is not only about the calories but perhaps even more important que quality of the food, processed food has too much salt, sugars and unnatural elements that in the long term cause diabetes and cancer. Food made in factories can never compete with fruit or food cooked at home, like you actually placing real fish in the oven and cooking it. I mentioned the oven because it is usually healthier than frying.

Excess salt isn't bad for you as long as you have functional kidneys. The connection to hypertension isn't based on real science. South Koreans eat twice the salt on average as Americans and have much less hypertension. Prior to refrigeration Europeans ate ten times the salt as Americans currently do and less hypertension. It's the refined sugar and HFCS and the carbs in general and seed oils. If this chain starts using tallow to make their fries I'll move to Russia.

I've fried my own fries many times. It's a pant load of pain in the ass. I'll usually chunk up potatoes, toss them in bacon grease and air fry them and that scratches the same itch, but if I want deep fried I am buying them (or mostly not because everywhere uses vegetable oils) because a man can only spill oil all over his stove so many times.

e: Actually now that I think about it I haven't done any deep frying since I've become a seed oil disrespecter and tallow would be easier to clean because it's solid at room temp.

McDs has been popular in Russia for a while. I think you're overestimating how often people are eating there. Naturally a Russia Today article would hype it up.
