Sounds like Jews were in part responsible, as were European whites and even Africans.

All Jews who did not convert were expelled in 1493, and many had converted in the century before. So they were at best third generation converts to Christianity. It would be incorrect to state that they were religious Jews (though they had as few scruples about engaging in slave trade as Christians did), but ethnically those conversos would be in part Jewish.

In addition to having only reltively minor domestic problems (in the scheme of things -- there's Great Recession and Great Depression right?), there has not been a war in which a majority of the young men fought. Just no context on real hardship for most young people. I would include myself in that. I am softer than my grandparents if not as retarded as some zoomers.
