Ugh, that dialog. It's like a thirty-something Tik-Tok addicted womanchild inserted her idealized version of herself into the character.
I wanted to shut the trailer off half way through. Playing hours of a game with this character would cause Repetitive Cringe Syndrome.
Sounds about as "hip" and "edgy" as Poochie.
Gotta slay the heckin dragon and trust the science my dude
A strange wave emanating from an ancient artifact has sent me to the distant past in a strange land. So obviously, the first thing I'm going to do is to distance myself from the native population for 2 weeks as a precautionary measure to avoid spreading covid.
I first saw it in text by someone talking about it and I legitimately thought it was just them making fun of it not part of the actual ad.
It's like they hired someone from The CW to write the characters and dialogue.
Low-quality, cliched, shallow dialogue that are intended to sound "cool" to teenagers but doesn't represent how real human beings communicate.
Could be that's the character. Don't forget Ultima's Avatar was just some guy from Earth who wandered through a magic portal.
It was obvious from the start this will be woke crap.
The lack of promotion and the latest delay by more than 6 more months are red flags on top of the red flags we already know about. They'll just be sending this game out to die.
Even if it wasn't, I freaking hate isekai. The last thing I need in any fantasy story is some modern-day asshole constantly commenting on how unbelievable everything is. Is it really too much to expect writers to just make a real genuine fantasy story with a protagonist in its world?
The dialogue is shit but I like the idea of modern characters in to a fantasy setting.
Yep. Ever since reading A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court I loved this kind of story.
Seeing a strange world through the eyes of someone completely relatable can help immerse you into the story. Also, a fish out of water may bring something completely unexpected into this world that can be a unique advantage.
But with this protagonist?
Hard pass.
I generally dislike those kinds of stories because the protagonist is always crying about wanting to go home.
"Oh no, I'm trapped in a fantasy world with these strange powers! If only I could get back home to my 9 to 5 job!"
Usually, they never stop crying about it and the story ends when they go home.
Sounds like someone just played Final Fantasy Advance.
How about if they initially want to go back, but change their mind later and stay?
That's fine as long as they're not "Oh, woe is me" the whole time.
Works for me.
Like he goes "I still miss my family and old friends...but these people in this world need me. I just wish I could let them know I'm okay."
You don't just GET OVER losing access to your loved ones--not that quickly.
At least, that's how I'd write it.
Stop buying and watching female led games and movies. Send a message.
Ffs people, stop giving these people your money and attention.
Me years ago: If they don't stop releasing good games I'll never get to the bottom of my Steam backlog.
Me now: At least I have my Steam backlog.
*Jaw drops when subscribes to Gamepass for first time. Have never played most of those old classics because of no console since the Genesis, yes including Dragon Age and the Banjo Kazooie games
*Plays truck sim instead because of event
*Has eye on yet another game because the demo kicked ass
Nah, I don't need crap like this pile of shit.
Huh, not bad gameplay, nice visuals and interesting set design
Main character opens her mouth
Annnd you lost me, this is added to the do not play pile
Annnd you lost me.
Now now, there are times that's a selling point
If its " Main character opens her dress that's actually her hair to kinky BDSM kill angels" now you have my attention lol
I used to not think twice about a game having a female main character, but in current year it's a huge red flag.
We went from badass chicks in a linar progression (Ripley, Sarah Connor, Laura Croft, Samus) and to the point it was all the rage to having some hot chick in tight pants dual wielding pistols killing enemies while teasing the player/npcs.
To usually fumpy builds, perfect and solve all problems because they're women archetypes. It's just so dull and it'd be the same for men so women aren't allowed a pass.
Any game with a black female lead made that choice very intentionally, given the demographic of the wider video game audience.
If they make that decision, they will make many more just like it. Woke woke woke
Yup. A female protagonist is a huge red flag in 2022. A black female protagonist? Why would you even risk it lol
Game could have been fun if the protag would just shut up
"Omg like wow, I'm like so, magical and deep and stuff"
never forget what they took from you.

BETS TIME:
do you think the scene where she cries is still in the game or they went full strong womyn?
Is this some craptastic mobile P2W?
When you buy an AMD GPU they give you this game. I’ll take one for the team and let you know how bad it is once it’s released.
Nvidia is too expensive compared to AMD.
Now if I wanted to play 4k with RT nvidia is the way to go
Is this SquareEnix produced or published?
They have so many regrets right now, it isn't funny. And YoshiP's work (and maybe gacha) is the only thing keeping them profitable.
And then of course the protagonist is two steps from WE WUZ NIGGA FANTASY.
Who is this person? Do they have any talent or are they over hyped?
Game looks beautiful, but the narration sounds like something from Netflix.... Seriously, it looks like it has Squaresoft's DNA in it.
Dialogue was cringe, but it looks neat.
Weird to see people praising the looks of the gameplay. Looks like fantasy anthem.
Typical Isekai stuff. I don't see a problem.
But I don't see anyone getting hit by a truck?
