I've kept an eye on it, and there is enough interest to keep these going for now. Though, if someone else prefers to do them, feel free.
Questions:
- What are you playing and on what platform(s)? Reviews?
- Did you pick up anything based on the last thread?
- Do you want recommendations? Genre(s)? Past enjoyed games?
NieR: Automata so good.
And I WAS playing State of Decay 2 but it finally pissed me off enough to quit. It's full of great ideas left half-assed or implemented in shitty ways that drain all the enjoyment out, the characters are nagging annoying cunts, the AI Is shit, and it's woke as fuck.
That sucks, first one was pretty good. I heard that outside of the woke shit it was pretty botched in general.
Automata is outstanding.
Total War: Warhammer 2. Probably my favorite Total War since Rome 1. Hope 3 is worth a damn. The third iteration of a property is usually....less worthy.
I hope you're playing Skaven.
Lord Skrolk right now now. Though I'm switching between him, Settra and Louen campaigns.
Based based much much.
I picked up Legend of Grimrock again. I hadn't played it since it first came out and I got stuck and gave up in frustration. Did some research and went in with a rough idea of how to build party/characters and it's been going better, though both the puzzles and combat still come across as unfairly difficult at times. It's a very unforgiving game, but when it hits its stride that dungeon crawl feels so rewarding.
Been playing Thief 1 last few days. I'd tried it multiple times before but the 2nd level where you have to go up into a prison through some mines usually filtered me out. Mandalore's review got me to reinstall and try it on expert and for whatever reason I'm having a lot more fun with it.
Yakuza 0 on PC. Don't know how this franchise has eluded me in the past, but it is pretty dang good. Already 70+ hours in and I have barely done half of everything. The amount of content is overwhelming.
Loved that game, 0 was my first as well, just played last fall for 5 vucks from the play store and the amount of story, content and Japanese wackiness made me fall in love with the series. Based jap games is all I'm gonna play from now on.
I got into the franchise when they ported 0 to PC and haven't looked back, theyre all super long, its great.
My attention span is dogshit though, so its kind of hard by the end.
You're in for a wild ride though, seriously.
And when you get to it a long, long time away, the complete change in combat system in 7 to a JRPG works.
Also worth looking into Judgement/the fist of the north star yakuza-esque games the studio made.
Hellish Quart just launched in EA and it's such scuffed eurojank but i can hardly get enough of it. awesome historical realistic fighter already, can't wait until it's actually done.
What do you think of the randomized blocking? It looks like a fun game that I want to try one day, but I don't like the contradictory duality of skill focus and RNG.
it's more about keeping distance, measure and attack timing than the random blocking. it can catch you though, i hope/think it's one of those things they'll improve to be less random.
A few days ago I started up new games in two of the classic non-Warscape engine Total Wars, Rome 1 and Medieval 2, with new mods that came out fairly recently: Restitutor Orbis (a Crisis of the 3rd Century mod that had been in the works for more than 10 years) and Tsardoms Total War (a 14th century Balkan mod), respectively.
I got bit really hard by the valheim bug for a solid week, kind of burnt out. But now i'm thinking of starting a seed that isn't bricked now that i know a lot more about what to do.
Been catching up on FFXIV endgame/and i know people are gonna hate this, but WoW/classic, because having a couple of nights out of the week for a social event is nice.
HHcLC5acQt is a 'perfect' seed.

Nioh 2 and escape from tarkov
Valheim (though the hype goggles are wearing off). Divinity Original Sin 1+2. Mostly been doing non gamer stuff tho. Been the perfect year and a bit to do ME improvement, self education, fitness. Always said to myself I want to know how to do the basic house DIY but didn't have the time with work and kids and well.. One of those things stopped.
Escape from Tarkov. It has its problem but it's pretty unique.
I fucking hate it. Writing this while "waiting for players" on Shoreline, need more scavs with AKMs
Single player Ark on console. What I'm really engaged in is a metaphysical battle of wills against the developers - the stakes are simple: if I win, I gain fun, but if I lose, then I don't have fun.
The game is shitty (unfortunate pun), yet I keep playing it. The devs -do not- want me to play their game the way I want to, so I have to do my best to navigate their bad designs and nerfs. Every time I'm forced to use console commands, it's a small loss on my part, unless I'm cheating to circumvent an unfixed bug or broken geometry.
I think the appeal to me is the potential of their game. This potential will be forever unrealized by the devs, going by their sense of balance, priorities, monetization, and communication. But I can see it, even if they cannot. Their primary mistake was making the game revolve around pvp and multiplayer; this prevented them from looking more deeply into the experience of play.
From playing local co-op Ark on console, I finally understand what my programming teacher was trying to tell me about the importance of multithreading. The input of player1 should never affect the menu actions of player2.
I played Ark a lot waaay back when it was an early release PC game. Totally understand what you mean. I wanted an open ended survival exploration game that I could play with friends. It was sort of like that at first too. They went so heavily towards online PVP though and I lost interest.
Yeah, it's weird, solo ARK only holds me for maybe an hour or two, but I keep going back to No Man's Sky instead.
My main games on rotation are generally NMS, FO4, Rimworld, and Garden Paws.
Still playing Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero (eiyuu densetsu: zero no kiseki) via the Geofront fan patch. I didn't feel much drive to continue with Trails in the Sky, while the Steam free weekend for one of the Cold Steel games made it seem a little too much modern-weeb for me, but I gave the Trails series a 3rd and final chance in the form of Zero - and it's superb. Right up my alley, oozes charm and the best retro-feeling JRPG I've played since FF9. As a self-contained 2 game arc, I'm fine without knowing some of the extended Trails background I'm missing. The modern trappings like voice acting and improved soundtrack, which the fan patch added, are the whipped cream on the pie.
Also playing the remastered Yakuza games on Steam. Kudos for no Denuvo. I'm in the middle of Yak 4 atm after having recently beaten 3. There's a ton of problems with these games in terms of pacing and design, but despite that they always seem to be a guaranteed good time for me overall. Fucking around in video game Kamurocho seems like the closest thing I'll get to returning to Japan any time soon. The combination of the real life setting, side activities and likeable main chars with a smattering of overblown yakuza drama always eventually manages to put a smile on my face, even if I was raging at a shittily designed section mere moments before.
So I'm pretty Japan focused recently, but I have Doom 2016 and Eternal chambered and ready to go whenever I finish these.
2016 is much better than Eternal. I don't know why they decided to take one of the greatest fps shooters ever made and introduce 1) an ugly puke green color scheme 2) way more awkward platforming 3) immersion-destroying in-game enemy weakness explanations 4) a ton of new "videogamey" mechanics that pull you out of the game world.
I totally agree. I played in on Xbox and was hyped, I loved Doom 2016 and played through it several times--totally unusual for me, I don't replay games. I'm sooo glad I was too cheapskate and too busy when it launched, because I would have been so disappointed to have paid for Doom Eternal.
Main complaint, get the platforming out of my Doom game. I've actually died on a single platforming section more times than the rest of the time I'd played the game combined.
I just want to shoot shit. That's what Doom is about to me. Just let me shoot shit.
I actually really love Doom Eternal, I can see why some fans of 2016 didn’t like it, it’s a lot more difficult, more fast-paced, you can’t just sit back and mindlessly wreck everything with the ssg and infinite ammo rune like in 2016. As much as I love 2016 I think it’s kind of overrated just because it came out at a time when most fps were total shit garbage, and I appreciate Id trying to make something different instead of just shitting out the same game with like, two more guns and three or four new demons.
Single player ark, modded new vegas, mystery dungeon remake.
I've been playing Valheim, Imperator: Rome (the 2.0 update is quite good. Really!), Vintage Story, and Pixelmon.
I've been playing Wasteland 3. There are a few issues with the writing but overall it's pretty good. In terms of being pozzed there's really only two characters that seem like they probably shouldn't be women, and beyond that there's a character called "The Patriarch" who is not a cartoonish supervillain, so it's about as close to being based as a mainstream game possibly can be.
Just about done with Cyberpunk, lasted for a good 230 hours before it became stale. Right now I'm juggling between Total War: Warhammer 2 and The Medium.
I was playing Cyberpunk but fell behind with several of the patches so I'm just waiting till expansions come out. Fucking fantastic game, just for whatever reason GOG patches required me to have enough free space for the entire game on top of the memory it already took so I just didn't have the room to update and I uninstalled so I could play other things in the meantime.
Messing around with Johnny Silverhand's great and I'm looking forward to seeing what it looks like after another 6 months to a year.
Noita. Fun little roguelike with surprising depth.
My fellow Etrian-bro! I'm now on Untold 1, just Untold 1+2 to go and I'll have beaten every game in my big replay of them of late. Always been a fan of the atmospheric music for the games. The sea quests are a real journey, some can be cheesed, others have VERY strong synergy with certain builds but lackluster with others, it's almost like puzzle-bosses sometimes... Except the one you're referencing. Screw that one, it's an exercise in pain, so good job pushing through.
And remember, until the pop-up says "your inventory is full", you don't have enough Nectars. Aside from Formaldehyde for obvious reasons, items are meant to be used, cry not for the lost Medica2, it was used well. And don't forget to re-visit the sea areas after beating the bosses once, I think that sometimes gives you a bonus? It's been three full games since I was in that one, so memory a little murky.
EO4 is the one with the airship, right? If you drop food for the sheep in the second Area, you can get a pre-emptive on them while they eat the food. If you use a golden stinkhorn, they become Rare. IF YOU use a golden stinkhorn, you gain additional exp. Combine the two and you rake in huge sums of exp... IF you can kill them. Overlevelling makes things easy, obviously. They spam sleep and a head-bind will eat like 5 of their turns since everything they do is head-based, good luck. If they're too tough for now, remember it for later on as a viable quick-level strat if you're the type to Retire at lv30 for the bonus stats.
If you're having trouble with the Ravine, try the side-labs first, if you can reach any of them. The moth garden I think? There's one that you need to lure a sheep into the path of a crocodile to access, that one the FOEs will murder ya but the monsters I believe are killable? IIRC usually most of the side-labs are easier than the main lab. You mention a Fortress being low-TP but your Runemaster dying... If you just want more DPS, switch your Fortress out. Fortress is a tank, it should be protecting that Runemaster. If they're not protecting them, a different role would be better. Also, poison deals reliable damage in additional to elemental stuff, not sure if you're rocking an adnormal status user but status effects are good and usable in EO, both "def down/atk down" status and "poison/paralyze" status. And as always, upgrade your equipment whenever possible.
I'm playing the Untold 1in Story mode, and will probably do 2 in Classic mode, since I did the reverse in my original long-ago playthroughs. Since it provides a story, no need on that one. Since I know EOU2 can be broken via Grimoire Stone abuse in a pinch, I'll probably make up a dysfunctional team on purpose just to see if I can, and dream up a narrative based on that. (The fact the Ontario resident is the cutest character in EOU1 makes this Kweebecker sad, damn Ontarians, stealing the waifus!)
I greatly appreciated the reveal in the original... original. But in that original original, the characters involved in the reveal play much bigger roles than they do in Untold, IIRC, so there's a double-impact loss to have Gladsheim there AND the role switches. They strongly moved away from that reveal, which is a bit sad, but I guess while the "big" reveal is still hidden, the medium-reveal would have been spoiled by the fact all the EO games occur in the same universe and that middle-spoiler "theme" is repeated in one or two of them.
EOU3's carryback class would likely have been Imperial, just due to how iconic they've become in the series, featuring heavily in 4, 5, and Nexus. And one unique new class. The only "problem" with EOU3 would be unlike all the other EOs, it has story path exclusive classes: You can't unlock every class (in one playthrough, at least). While canonically (because Nexus exists and ties all the games together) you pick the one class, I really liked the other one. Keeping it vague for spoiler-avoiding purposes, but in a "story mode" version of it like they try to do with the Untolds, that branching aspect will feel like it has a lot less meaning, what with the stakes of "which class you unlock" no longer being on the line since they're story characters. They may remove the choice entirely, much like how Gladsheim diminished the story in EO1.
And yeah, skip the equipment-forges for poison. Other status effects like paralyze or sleep? Yeah, solid gold, but if you want to rock poison you really need a "dedicated" poisoner like a Venomfly-spec'd tamer or a Nightseeker, not just a Forge.
It'll probably be a whle before I replay 4 again, but if so, feel free to toss me your QR-code for the 3-star treasure location. FWIW I already have Sharp Lands, but I think the others are all new to me. This one should be new to you, EO4 QR code for Cliff Surface: https://imgur.com/a/eOIU9iT
Your Runemaster is too underleveled, straight-up. The others should be okay, if their gear is fine. I guess Runemaster dies a lot and thus lose out on big exp? When you do some quests, "store" all your units except the runemaster before turning them in, in most EOs (and I think 4 applies, but make sure first), exp is split, not shared, so that should help rocket forward their level in line with the rest of the group.
And you're right, I mis-remembered because of Nexus' sheer length compared to other EO games and I was playing them in tandem, 5 doesn't have Imperial.
Playing Valheim and Legends of Runeterra, with some Mechwarrior Online sprinkled in. Waiting for Warframe to buff guns so I can enjoy the game again.
Looking for recommendations on physical manga (I've enjoyed Fullmetal Panic, Black Butler, Escaflowne, Vinland Saga, and Gargantia and the Verdurous Planet as far as Anime goes, if that helps), best places to purchase said physical manga, and good card games. TCG/CCG preferred, but I'm open to options. Used to play Versus when that existed, played a hand or two of Magic, but don't want to support Hasbro, and not interested in Yu-Gi-Oh. Pokemon is probably not an option, I hear they're in crazy high demand right now.
Blade and Sorcery is still a damn fine game. Closest you can get to actually slicing people up with a lightsaber.
Uma Musume Pretty Derby and my second play through of Bloodborne using the Chikage. Went straight to Cainhurst Castle as soon it was open and beat Logarius with a +6 Threaded Cane yesterday.
Continuing my abusive love hate relationship with Escape from Tarkov.
Waiting in anticipation for Combat Mission Cold War coming to steam very soon.
Just finished RE2 remake, wife got me RE3 so I'll start that soon here. Can't think of anything exciting for this year other than Mass Effect and Ninja Gaiden and those are both collections.
The mass effect remaster is already censored garbage. And they want 90 bucks for it.
I'm interested in seeing how Subverse pans out, but that's an adult game.
Ninja Gaiden and maybe Rune Factory 5 (never played the series) are it otherwise AFAIK. Not very exciting prospects, so I'm in the same boat.
I picked up 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim second-hand that u/Daucus9/ mentioned. Played the first few character intros and really liked it.
However, I'm busy with a project and that's all I did. Made 0 progress on Danganronpa 2, which I should have finished by now.
Crazy as it is for me, almost nothing. I'm weird and go in spurts. When it gets up into the 95-105F temps this summer, I will be putting in 50 hours a week. I just don't want to do other things then. Lately I've just been doing other things.
I have played a little bit though, I tried Shadows of the Damned a couple weeks ago to try to get through it while I could still play for free*. It wasn't all that interesting. Put in a few hours here and there in Minecraft. That's another game I play very sporadically, but over nearly a decade now I've amassed so much stuff. I get on there and decide to build something totally random and put it up. Some of it grand projects, other simple. I also put in a round of Tetris here and there. Mostly Tetris DS.
If someone wants to recommend something, I'm game to hear about DS or GBA games, particularly things you can pick up and play for 20-30mins at a time. I got my hands on one of those GBA Everdrives, so they are "free" even. Maybe I'll try Pokemon, I know nothing about it except there's a yellow thing called Pikachu and some people collect cards.
So GBA games are my thing, I'd recommend:
Golden Sun 1 & 2, obligatory RPGs, 1 leads into 2 and both are good.
Astro Omega Factor, loveletter to Tezuka, meaning you'll need to brush up on who Blackjack is for example.
Pokemon Emerald (Firered, Leafgreen, Ruby, Sapphire, Gold and Silver) are all on the system
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Red Rescue Team, dungeon crawler with pokemons.
ATLA and Burning Earth, two small sprite games made by a studio here in aus, it's simple puzzles and the like but I like it.
Zone of the Enders - The Fist of Mars, tactics game set inside Z.O.E, unrelated but Kojima says it's canon anyway. Pretty good with a good selection of units.
Tactics Orge - the Knight of Lordis and Onimusha tactics. Both kinda like FFT and both pretty good games in their own right.
Metroid Fusion, some like some hate I like as it's a pretty good metroid on the GBA.
LOTR two towers and return of the king. Diablo clones essentially, smash orcs and get gear.
Breath of Fire 1 and 2, both ports from the SNES and both have re-translation patches which you really should get. Is a good series with memorable party characters, can't go wrong.
Summon Night - Swordcraft Story 1 and 2. First game is a dungeon crawler where you get material, forge them into weapons and summon help to help you in combat. Second is kinda like that but opens up more in that it's not just a dungeon but more varied landscapes. Very recommend. For helvetti's sake, pick Sugar, Best girl.
Yu-gi-oh, there's a few here. Sacred Cards I'd say is the best if you want a classic game where you're inserted into the game but just for dueling, Ultimate Masters 2006. This is a comprehensive game that covers the original and GX, introducing Neo-Elementals for example. You buy your decks, trade out cards and see where it goes, it's basically Legacy of the Duelist before it was that. I sunk so many hours into this. It continues on the DS with 07 and 08 as well I believe but 06 is a good place to start. Has duel puzzles as well, like needing to defeat an opponent in 1 turn with only the cards you draw. Gets you to think about card effects and the like. There's also Duel Academy if you want to actually be in the events of GX.
Cima the Enemy and Lufia the Ruins of Lore, Both kinda weird RPGS. CIMA has you rescuing people from a dungeon after a train gets stuck in a neververse, people can actually die and if everyone on the train dies, well you're really bad at the game. Lufia features a job system from memory and good interactions with the environment.
Shining Souls 1, 2 and Force. 1 and 2 plays like normal RPGs where Force turns into a party based game system from memory. Check em out.
Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword, Sacred Stones and 6. BS was the first FE in the west and it's just so good, Lyn, Eliwood and Hector are still fan favorites to this day because of how great their adventure was. Sacred stones improves the gameplay a little bit but still has alot of good characters (Joshua, Lute and Amelia for example). 6 is a prequel/sequel to 7 but didn't get released in the west I don't think. There is a patch out there somewhere for it, so grab that. All these games are hard but so worth it, the sprite work is honestly some of the best on the console, it's just so expressive.
Zoids Legacy is kinda slow for a Super Robot Wars clone but I still like it. Collect all the zoids, travel on the overworld map. Give it at least a try I'd say.
Metal Slug Advance is on here, if you're a fan of Metal Slug.
Riviera - The Promised Land, a full length RPG from Sting. A unique art style, battle mechanics and game in general. I like it. Translation is good. I think there was a Vita version as well with more content but the GBA version still works. Yggdra Union as well, one of the last games released that I think also got on the DS, card based unit game from the same creators, it's not bad. It's not Riviera though.
Sword of Mana is another good RPG, over land battles instead of needing to go to a separate screen I think. Lots of gorgeous sprite work.
Scourge Hive, totally forgotten game. Maybe you'll enjoy it. It's one of the ones I never played.
Advance Wars. Hope you like FE because that's all they're going to make for the next 15 years, after Days of Ruin on the DS the studio has forgotten about this series. Grab AW and Black Hole Rising. Both excellent games with good sprite work.
Broken Sword, Shadow of Templars. Yes someone actually ported over the first point and click game from the broken sword series, the videos are still images instead but it plays rather well I might say. If you wanna get into it with a graphical downgrade from it's PC counterpart, it's worth a shot.
Donkey Kong Countries 1, 2 and 3 are on the GBA as well, straight ports from the SNES. Worth having.
Lunar Legend is a remake of the SNES game Lunar Silver Star. It is worth playing however, as it's a classic RPG that has a decent translation by Ubisoft of all people, they translated alot of the GBA western releases so they're hit and miss sometimes. But yes, play it.
Medal of Honor Infiltrator is a top down sprite shooter borrowing a few things from metal slug. It plays alright, give it a look at. Avoid underground, there are no good first person shooters on the fugging GBA, as far as I know. Didn't have the power for it.
Sonic games, Super Ghouls and Ghosts and River City Ransom are some other good ones.
Megaman Battle Network. It's different than Megaman X for example in that you control some other guy and use selected chips in an RPG fashion to battle through. There's like 5 games in the series on the GBA I think. They reused alot of the sprite work.
The Harry potter games have varying degrees of Sprite works. Might be worth checking out.
Last one is Mazes of Fate. There is a DS copy of this but a first person dungeon crawling game on the GBA? Yes please, and this game was made in Argentina of all places. It really worth checking out.
Wow, that's a hell of a list, thanks!
I've played almost nothing GBA, but I just bought the Everdrive so I could try out some. The actual cartridges are crazy expensive. In the milder months I'm out a lot more, things like camping and such. There's downtime where you just want to lay down and relax it's hard to beat an old handheld. Sure, I could get a Switch or play phone games, but then I'm worrying about charging and crap all the time and I don't really like playing modern Switch-style games handheld. My sad old DS lite takes up a third of the space and weight and I won't have to plug in until I get home.
I'm not really into episodic stuff since I favor RPGs, but:
These are all for GBA, never played DS and it's been a while so I forget most of the titles.
There's also the standard staple of Mario, Luigi, Wario, and other Nintendo games that might fit.
Shadowrun returns was actually ported over into HongKong engine as a mod, meaning you get the more advance augments and armor system for that scenario. I'd also recommend Caldecott while I'm at it, train robbery set in Shadowrun.
Just finished Haven, made by the Furi devs. It's an okay game, you explore around a shattered world and it's a mellow experience. It's not bad but I wouldn't recommend it, music by Danger is good though, he does good work. Like I said, perfectly "Ehhh," game.
Other than that, somehow survived Project Wingman on Mercenary. Conquest 30+ is impossible with all the prototypes the game throws at you and even my MTD has trouble with that many. One thing I did try out was replacing the music with other stuff. Zero from Ace Combat 0 kinda works when dueling Crimson but the best track I found was Spread your Wings by System F. They're an early 2000s Trance band that got a few of their songs in the Area 88 anime in 2004, so it's oddly appropriate for dog-fighting.
Other than that, CoD 2 with Back 2 Fronts, because it's not CoD 2 for me if I can't die in 2 bolt action hits. Veteran is punishing, Hardened is oddly balanced.
I still need to finish Huniepop 2, Sakuna's been on my list for like 5 months now after I just stopped when my wheels were being grinded down. This month brings Startopia remake which looks decent and Evil Genius 2 (with Denuvo). I kinda wanna focus a bit more on anime in the next few months however. We'll see.
I've been swapping between Disciple 2 for nostalgia and Total War: Warhammer 2. I'm also thinking about Age of Wonders 1 and 2, I've played 3 and I like it.
Currently rocking a wizard lizard in divinity original sin 2. PC.
Apex Legends for two years straight now
Etrian Odyssey (DS/3DS) complete runthrough continuing, nearing completion, on the last two of the 8 games. (I suppose Persona Q is technically an Etrian Odyssey game, too, so since I own it but never beat it, I guess it's also on the list after them all?)
Gal Gun provides some amazing rail-shooter action and lighthearted fun. The gameplay is surprisingly solid for... what it is. There's a reason No Game No Life made an entire arc referencing it, it's very well done.
Path of Exile, quietly grinding away in the new league if the other games aren't of interest, at least until I hit the 25 achievements so I have nice equal-height trophies for each league.
Persona games? I've beaten P3, got about 2/3rds through P4 before my console broke alas (and it would be a teddy-ous task to get that far again on computer version or something, but one day eventually for sure). I've beaten some of the ShinMegamiTensei other games on the DS/3DS, and Digital Devil Saga.
I've been playing a lot of Dyson Sphere Program. It's early access, but honestly has enough content for a full release, and seems less buggy than most AAA games on release.
It's pretty much a 3-D factorio, with a huge focus on having to take advantage of resources across multiple planets and systems. I'm loving it - it hits the same itch as Factorio and Satisfactory, and is a worthy addition to their ranks. And it looks really good - seeing your dyson swarm cross the horizon before sunrise looks fantastic.
Just make sure to grab the mod that copies the inserters for a building when you copy the building (and maybe some of the other QoL mods that have been popping up since people figured out how to mod it). Otherwise your wrists are in for a rough time as you have to place them all manually. The devs say blueprints are on the roadmap, but they aren't in yet.
Path of Exile as always, made about the furthest progression I've ever done in this league. The league mechanic of ritual arenas and reward shopping is meh but the atlas updates that encourage you to run all the maps are wonderful. Its how I always played anyway but now I'm actually rewarded for it as opposed to penalized for not running the same map over and over again.
The pogchamp fiasco finally got me to give up on twitch and with that there stopped being any reason to play hearthstone and good riddance.
Started a game called "Vintage Story" which is like basically "Primitive Technology: The Game". As in you knap your own stone tools and night is pitch black crops grow over weeks of gametime, you build charcoal pits to get fuel to smelt copper...etc. Its an offshoot of a hardcore minecraft mod but its a standalone game. Self hosted multiplayer servers are huge plus. If you can handle minecraft graphics it is a lot of fun.
And I picked up Gunfire Reborn on Penny Arcade's recommendation and don't regret it. Roguelite fps with exactly the level of depth to enjoy playing casually for 1 or 2 runs a day.
Back to Stardew Valley for a spell. Just looking for something to be a bit mindless and I already had it, so saves money too.
