This is a typical tactic for evil people who are trying to manipulate others.
They pretend nothing is happening as they're actively doing the same thing you're accusing them of behind closed doors. If called out, they act like you're crazy and making it up. If it becomes irrefutable, they'll claim they were doing it for a virtuous reason and therefore it was justified.
It's just one lie after the other for them. All they really care about is optics... the fact that they're liars and manipulators holds no measure of guilt for them.
Most of these politicians were never conservative in the first place. They were crony capitalists and members of the establishment first-and-foremost who said whatever they needed to in order to get elected, then joined hands with the Democrats to do whatever served the establishment's interests.
This is stupid and demoralizing.
Beliefs don't make you partial or impartial. Impartiality is when there is a conflict of interest or pre-existing bias for/against a particular person (i.e. friendship, grudge). There is no expectation for people to be mindless robots incapable of subjective thought or belief.
This is what happens when someone internalizes the abuse from the Left and behaves as if they're ashamed of their beliefs and principles.
I don't know the context so I could be missing something, but traditionally any time Nintendo censors something, it's because they still view themselves as a family-friend toy company and they're fiercely protective of this brand reputation. This would also explain why they banned the trans stuff so quickly.
From what I can tell, from reading Greek and Roman sources, it seems that women's behavior 2,000 years ago was identical to women's behavior today. That makes sense, since men's behavior is also identical, because most human behavior is genetic, and 2,000 years isn't enough time to have significant evolution.
I'm not claiming different behavior; quite the opposite. I'm claiming that women's nature is being exploited to make them feel afraid and oppressed 100% of the time, which is why there is such exaggerated in-group preference. Again, back to the survival mechanism.
For another example, spend some time in a traditional Evangelical Christian or Amish/Mennonite community and you won't see this type of reflexive "women vs men" mentality from most women. They certainly don't "believe all women" or assume men are at fault in every disagreement. Granted, these are communities where gender roles are very traditional and women are expected to be subservient to their husbands. It's up to you whether you see this as the "default" state of female nature or whether you believe the more modern paranoid female nature is the "default".
But that's not male in-group bias, and so it won't affect men's judgements in court.
But the female in-group bias does affect it, because it applies to all females, regardless of their shared experiences or connections.
Everyone has a bias in favor of women, including and maybe even especially men, so I think you'd have a hard time arguing the point that women shouldn't be judges on that point alone.
Women will blindly take the side of other random women that they don't even know. Men never do that.
I'm not so sure about this. I don't think this blind loyalty to other women is normal at all, historically speaking. A couple hundred years ago women were the ones primarily responsible for guiding, correcting and shaming other women into proper behavior. Women would often be the first to accuse other women of being promiscuous or seducing or exploiting men for personal gain. Even today women are very hostile (i.e. passive aggressive) towards one another except in situations where men are perceived as a threat and then they band together (which makes sense biologically given their physical disadvantage). The difference today is women are raised believing they are constantly being oppressed by men so this instinct is active 100% of the time.
Additionally, you yourself are evidence of male in-group bias. It's much less likely for men to exhibit in-group bias in favor of all other men, because most men don't see women as a threat, but the moment they do (like you), the in-group bias manifests. This is because in-group bias is a survival mechanism.
That can't be true, because women have had in-group bias for many thousands of years, and this idea that "women are oppressed and men are the enemy" happened very recently, not long enough for evolution to occur.
I'd like to see a source for that, because I'm not convinced. We can do studies today on female behavior, but no such studies exist from hundreds or thousands of years ago, and I don't see any evidence in the history books of this type of behavior being the norm.
Men do have in-group bias, it's just not based simply on gender, it's based on shared male experiences. Brothers in arms, gang members, men's clubs, sports teams, etc.
In-group bias is a survival instinct that increases the more dire the circumstances are, and it comes is many forms.
It's just a theory, but one reason women may exhibit more in-group bias based on gender is because society is constantly telling them that women (as a group) are oppressed and that men (as a group) are the enemy. No doubt this could trigger the survival instinct in women who are too oblivious to know any better. Women are easily influenced and manipulated, so without a strong, positive male influence in their lives, it's very easy for women to buy into this nonsense.
I think it goes deeper than this.
Leftists are deeply unhappy people filled with anger and resentment towards the world and towards other people. Because of this, they want nothing more than for you to be as unhappy and miserable as they are. Your happiness is offensive to them because it throws every perverse belief of theirs back in their face.
Women rely on men to solve problems for them. The problem with many modern women is that this reliance has evolved into entitlement, and they take men for granted. Worse than this, they also blame everything negative on men, including their own insecurity and discomfort, and become filled with resentment.
This is what happens when you have a society that refuses to chastise or shame women when it's due. Society today only exists to build women up; even when it's undeserved. This harms women as much as it harms men.
You can’t have legalized gay marriage without opening the door to the insanity we’re experiencing today; something even most right-wingers don’t seem to understand. The religious right has been 100% correct on this matter since the beginning.
You are so blessed to have good parents. It’s incredible how many problems today stem from people raised in broken families or by parents who are mentally or physically abusive. Having decent, hard working, loving and supportive parents gives you such a head start in life, even if you don’t always agree with them.
As for your cousin, I hope both of you can return to being on friendly terms but he’s going down a dark path that leads to anger, resentment and self-loathing. It’s very difficult to reason with someone like this; they have to want to change. Sometimes the best thing you can do with people like this is just be good to them and set an example. This often leaves an impression far more powerful than a logical argument.
I’m afraid we’re moving in that direction here in the USA. Unless we can replace all of the country club, fat cat, do-nothing Republicans here with MAGA Republicans and/or actual conservatives or libertarians, we’re going to be in big trouble.
Not intending to derail the conversation, but if I remember correctly a study from earlier this year that showed the massive cultural shift in favor of LGBT+ individuals over the last decade or so actually did almost nothing to decrease their stress, feelings of distress or suicide rate, and in some cases actually made it worse.
Here's a link to the study: https://archive.ph/ggkXy
I'm sorry, but I never bought the whole argument that the host of behavioral problems exhibited by LGBT+ peoples is due to the stress of being unaccepted by society. There are too many negative behaviors and issues correlated to being LGBT+. This includes things like higher rates of violence (esp. in gay women), higher rate of childhood abuse, considerably higher suicide rate (esp. in trans peoples), much higher rate of contracting AIDs (primarily in gay men), higher likelihood to be victims of sexual assault as an adult, etc. There's very clearly something else going on here that is contributing to these issues but nobody is willing to research the topic for fear of being cancelled for asking questions.
I feel sorry for the good, freedom-loving Canadians, but I'm afraid your country is in dire trouble... any nation that would re-elect someone like Trudeau time and time again is practically begging to be oppressed by the government like this.
Is this really a surprise to anyone?
Degenerate culture gives birth to degenerate policies that empower degenerates.
The only way someone can be surprised by this is if they've lost the plot on what is degenerate and what isn't.
The Western world is in full-on suicide mode right now… the only question is what will kill the West first: Communism, Islam, internal conflict/civil war or WW3 (or for that matter, some combination of the above).
I’m on the same page. While I might disagree with them in some cases, Bret and Heather appear to be good faith actors honestly concerned with pursuing the truth.
I like Eric for his unique mathematical perspective and general entertainment value but he’s much more of a wild card, and some of his takes — especially on politics — are absolutely terrible (just like Sam).
For some reason ultra-intellectuals like Eric and Sam tend to lose sight of reality, particularly the most human aspects of reality, and falsely believe the world and society is a simple machine for them to modify and tweak in order to achieve a desired result. I’m sorry but that’s just not how the world works, and you cannot even begin to affect change in society without understanding human nature and the paramount role it plays in practically every aspect of human civilization.
It's similar to the situation in the UK with trans activists vehemently denying the accusation that they're trying to groom school children to be trans, but then when the government proposes a bill to ban such grooming, they go ballistic.
If you weren't attempting to do so in the first place, why are you so opposed to the ban?
Observing what people support and what they oppose says much more about their beliefs and positions than anything they say.
