Question for the Euros: when did Halloween start to be a thing? I had understood it to be mostly an American (and Mexican, though they celebrate it quite differently) holiday that was mostly ignored in Europe, yet I'm starting to see references to it in Euro-centric circles.
Not entirely relevant, but I didn't know where else to ask and didn't want to make a post.
Americans don't even celebrate it like Americans anymore. I think the last time I had or saw a trick-or-treater was 2009. After that started to fizzle out kids started "trick-or-treating" at malls, but now that those are all dead I have no idea how the hell kids get their candy now.
It really isn't much of a thing, at least where I am. Some people use it as an excuse to dress up as something silly and get drunk, but it's very rare. I've done that once too, a few years ago, but it was only because I just bought my own apartment and wanted to invite some friends anyway, and it was in October so we did a spooky costume party.
Cool, love Matt and Blonde.

Consume GloboHoliday.
(yes I know All Hallow's Eve but they never used to celebrate Halloween like Americans)

A church parking lot where parents bring their kids and hand out candy at cars with open trunks.
Americans are pretty good at making shit convenient
I think part of it was safety concerns with no one really knowing their neighbors anymore.
Sounds lame
I live in the south and people still do it door-to-door like they've always done.
That's good to hear.

I was pleasantry surprised that Matt went all out with his Blackface rona Bat costume this year.
