The lack of native coding is one of the reasons we see so few masterpieces these days outside of Nintendo. BotW was incredible and groundbreaking because it was coded natively for the Switch (and Wii U, which ostensibly used a fairly similar OS and hardware environment to the Switch). It wasn't a framework on top of an API on top of another framework so they could release it on every platform known to man for maximum profit. Every time you add a third party library, every time you use an existing engine, every time you increase portability, you're making the game slower and less stable. No exceptions.

If they had tried to make BotW in Unreal Engine and release it for the PS4 and Xbox One, it would have run like dogshit despite those consoles being much more powerful than the Switch.

Another issue is that "censorship" means different things to different people. If a Japanese game contains a reference to an obscure Japanese comedy troupe from the 50s that literally nobody outside of Japan would understand, is it censorship to localize that reference to the Three Stooges when translating for a western market? Some would argue it is.

Then you get into a death by a thousand cuts thing. If it's okay to localize a reference, then it's okay to localize language. And if it's okay to localize language, it's okay to localize prevailing attitudes. And if it's okay to localize attitudes, it's okay to adjust for cultural differences. And so forth.

There isn't one point along that slow slide toward the memory hole that everyone agrees is the correct stopping point. Nobody can agree even on what it is they're rallying against. Not even here.

Mother is an unfinished mess that everyone tries to forget existed. Are you sure you're not thinking of Earthbound, AKA Mother 2?

"Just sabotage one of the most powerful entities in human history bro"

Without the backing of numerous government agencies, subversion never gets past the planning stage. All subversion comes from the top. All of it.

Would it really be out of character for Australian state media to run smear pieces on American states?

This may be a shitpost thread, but I'm starting to wonder if you actually are a biologist. It's not often someone namedrops SRY, even though in today's fucked discourse it should be a household name.

Unvaxxed. If I hadn't tested positive I'd have assumed I had a cold. I'm still not sure I didn't. The only reason I suspect the results may not have been falsified is that my wife lost her sense of taste for a day.

I've been much sicker from the common cold.

Awesome, now I can't install anything FOSS until it's been out for at least a few days and without checking the issues tab to make sure some NPC isn't trying to destroy hundreds of hours of work because the media brainwashed him.

I'm living in the west and it's already clear that there is no "good guys side" in this war. The behavior here has been reprehensible to say the least.

I'm torn between interpreting this as NPCs being NPCs and people just being really horrible at estimating using numbers.

Have you ever once seen any statistic at all where the general public was good at estimating it? Even something as simple as estimating lengths of time. I can't tell you how many times someone has described a two second interval as "half a minute", which would make them off by more than a factor of fifteen. Almost everyone I know does it.

Or how about a topical issue, the gas crisis? Every time gas goes up, there's a surge of new Prius buyers, even though if gas went from $2 to $8 and stayed there permanently, an average person would only be saving like $200 a month on gas, which means it would take over 12 years to break even.

Never trust an untrained person to be able to process numbers.

I stopped watching when they became afflicted with TDS. I don't even really like or care about Trump, but seeing them degenerate into hatemongers made me lose all respect for them.

They've been pretty biased for a long time though. They basically shit on every president from Carter to Bush Jr., but as soon as Obama got elected they hopped on his dick and never got off, and that was 14 years ago. In two years, they'll have been DNC dickriders longer than not. Unless they stop doing it at some point between now and then, but to that notion I say "lol rofl".

I understood that reference. But I wish I didn't.

For the blissfully unaware, it's a reference to a Tumblr post Felicia Day made that pretty much consisted of exactly that. She saw two WHITE MALES wearing "gamer shirts" and had a panic attack because Gamergate.

Two black women on Twitter make the same insane leap of logic
Both of them get dogpiled for being retarded
Both of them enable Hugbox Mode almost immediately
Both of them somehow manage to get into this article despite having single digit likes

Both of those Tweets were made by socks of the author of this article. Guaranteed. Everyone else was happy about Dolly's suggestion.

American ethnic slurs for Germans at the time included kraut and Jerry. It was generally understood that this applied to literal Germans, not Americans of German descent.

At the time the Kama Sutra was known pretty universally as "the sex positions book". Here's a small insight into the attitude toward that book in the late 90s-early 2000s. Check out the descriptions. "The classic love-making manual". "Sexual gratification remains fundamental". "Illustrates all 64 sexual postures". "The ancient art of seduction". I don't know how they view it in India, but Americans knew it for exactly one thing.

I don't discount the possibility of them making an at the time obscure reference to loving games or whatever, but that would be like calling your site "The Family Guy" and expecting people to interpret that as a statement that you're a guy writing about family life. You have to know your audience and how they'll interpret things. So either they were making a sex joke or were making an extraordinarily poorly thought out reference to Indian culture.

The replies to his groveling, dick-sucking apology really make me wonder if woke Twitter consists of highly verbal yet profoundly mentally retarded people. Like, legitimately sub-60 IQ.

They're all like "hurr durr are you saying that the only way you can like Up is if you tie balloons to your house", "only a living toy could like toy story". It's missing the point so badly that you'd have to have something severely wrong with your brain. The point of Up is letting go of the past and embracing the new. The point of Toy Story is...actually pretty much the same thing. Lots of that going on in Pixar movies I guess. Regardless, they're universal points that absolutely anyone can appreciate.

What's the point of Turning Red? "Being a Chinese teenage girl in western society is hard sometimes"? That is specific to maybe a half of a percent of the population in western societies. In terms of planet earth, try a fiftieth of a percent. If you're generous and include parents of Chinese teenage girls, you might be able to eke it out to one percent in target markets.

The reviewer here was objectively right.

Creators: "This film is for Asian teenage girls"
Reviewer: "I agree, this film is for Asian teenage girls"
Twitter: "YIKES WAS THAT A HECKIN RACISM AND A HECKIN MISOGYNY? OOF THIS AIN'T IT CHIEF"

This movie was such an obvious trap to get white people cancelled I feel sorry for any movie critic dumb enough to review it.

Yes, and I'm sure the ancient genre of sutra is exactly what a bunch of American gamers in the 90s had in mind when they named their site.

Their name was always cringe and I'm perfectly fine with them changing it to be more professional. It's a Reddit-tier sex joke. It's neither beyond the pale nor le spoopy harassment name, but it is immature.

What disappoints me is that they had to throw in some completely unnecessary white knighting. Disappoints, but does not surprise.

A major issue that people like this always miss is that it's not working super hard that gets you anywhere. It's having some sort of unique-ish value to society. The US is importing hundreds of thousands of people a year who are perfectly happy to do menial, zero-skill labor 80 hours a day for minimum wage. You being willing to do the same doesn't make you valuable, it makes you a replaceable part.

Women - who are objectively not overworked by the way - are underpaid because they overwhelmingly go into fields that are either extremely easy or have no value to anyone. None of them want to do the hard jobs that nobody wants to do. There are precious few female truckers, oil riggers, linemen, or plumbers. All of those jobs are well-paying, but only men do them. You can't turn your nose up at jobs that are hard and then get mad that you're not being paid very much to do something easy.

Those people are lost causes. This would mainly be for the benefit of non-brainwashed normies, kids who haven't yet been brainwashed, and fence-sitters. I live in an extremely brainwashed area, and I only know a handful of true, actual NPCs. Everyone else just says they love diversity and hate Republicans because it's unsafe for them to do otherwise. Their jobs and lives could be in real danger if they let their true views be known.

This would be a morale-booster for those people. A way to let them know that the left's evil isn't going unnoticed. And a way to let them know that if we do win, their enemies can't just slink back into the shadows like they always do. Next time the pendulum swings back, the evil gets destroyed, not just inconvenienced.

The implementation is, in a way, bad on purpose. A website is a central point of failure. So is a plug-in. We're dealing with an enemy that has infinite power over every institution everywhere in the English-speaking world. Decentralization is absolutely mandatory, and in order to make that happen we have to utilize tools that everyone has access to. Not everyone can host their own internet database, but everyone can open a spreadsheet.

I'd love it if we could just make regressives.net and have all of these scumbags out there for the public to see, but the instant that site goes up the host is going to get a very lucrative cash offer from some very powerful people to shut it down. Even if you host it yourself, they'll go after the ISPs, the DNS, or they'll just DDOS you all day every day forever.
