“I take full accountability and responsibly for my actions,”

What exactly were his actions? Because it sounds like all this is just because he liked the wrong movie. What was the movie?

His job is to play basketball. IDGAF about his politics, and neither should the team that employs him. They keep this shit up and they won't be able to find a player that passes whatever ideological purity test is in fashion on any particular day.

This comes 24 hours after a joint statement by Nets, ADL, and Irving, where they promised to each donate $500,000 towards causes and orgs that work to eradicate hate, and that they'd both work with ADL.

He promised to donate half a million dollars to the jews, and they still suspended him? I sure as fuck wouldn't be paying that money now if I was him.

it's unfortunate that Germany's primary language is now Arabic, so you're unlikely to get much use from it.

What's the difference? Aren't these just two ways of saying the same thing in the neverending quest to avoid offending anyone?

So 9/10 journalist being killed are men, but the UN says women journalist are being targeted. SMH.

There's a common fund that everyone is expected to pay into, and each country is also expected to maintain its own military to a certain standard. NATO countries agree to spend no less than 2% of their GDP on defense.

The US paid 16% of the common fund in 2021, but that bill is much smaller than the 2% per year commitment to military spending in general. Only 9 of 30 NATO countries met this commitment in 2021.

Hoard has now taken to encouraging members of the GSA to call the police to conduct wellness checks on her daughter, Lulu.

Swatting goes both ways. If that stupid fucking tranny keeps it up they're liable to get their own call saying they have hostages and shots have been fired.

And where did it get the home address of the student? If it's from school records some kind of privacy law violation for sure.

In actual reality racism is the effect. People see that neighborhoods get worse when blacks move in, the 5x violence, and so on and that makes them segregate and avoid blacks.

This. I don't believe that most cops join the police hating blacks, but after years of answering calls disproportionately involving blacks, they're bound to form an opinion. That's the so-called "institutional racism"- a shift in behavior based on the reality they've encountered.

It sounds like a paper I'd like to read. If nothing else it would be infinitely better than the drek that real world journalists churn out.

People from both the right and left have fallen into the trap of thinking that Musk was "one of us". He seems to have his beliefs and plans that may align with one in of the political spectrum in some places, but be wildly divergent in others.

The answer is to not place your hopes in individuals to solve your problems for you. I just assume that institutions and political figures are trying to exploit and oppress me regardless of political affiliation and try and avoid them when I can.

Eh, I'm currently reading some history texts about the early 1800's England. Napoleonic War type stuff. You stole back then and you hung.

I wouldn't say life back then was awesome, but that's probably largely due to the technological limitations of the time. Lots of poor and no mechanism to feed and employ them. It certainly wasn't a Mad Max dystopia or anything.

We don't have a working justice system. This guy saw a crime, used the appropriate level of force to detain the criminals until the cops arrived, and then a bystander compelled him to release the criminals before the cops got there and now he's the one facing charges.

The only reason the bikes went back to their owner was because the criminal's mom turned them in.

The social contract works both ways. You cede the freedom to make your own justice to the state in return for the state's promise to handle it. The state isn't keeping up it's end of the bargain.

And let's not even get into the fact that the cops have carte blanche to blow you away if you don't do exactly what they say (or sometimes when you do!) no matter what crime, if any, prompted their interaction with you. Don't preach to me about proportionality.

You forgot the /s.

My favorite videos are from a year or two ago with a black chick screaming that while vandalizing some business. If these people don't fear consequences, then they won't be dissuaded from their crime. It's clear the police are not a deterent, maybe declaring open season on them would be.

If you steal, your life should be forfeit. Maybe we'd have less crime if these assholes knew that there would be no consequences if their victims simply killed them.

In private, Secretary of State Antony Blinken brought up the two Michaels, saying serious countries don’t kidnap people to use as bargaining chips.

Says the country that had Canada arrest the Hauwei exec on trumped up charges, which started this whole thing. Why would the Chinese have to abide by a US embaro on Iran anyway?

I think China is a shitty, evil country, but the US acts like a spoiled brat that thinks he can do whatever the hell he wants.

I knew about the arrest of the Chinese chick and the retaliatory arrests by China. I didn't realize it took three years to sort it out.

The US likes to fuck around and find out with arresting foreign nationals. Here's a case regarding an Indian diplomat: https://web.archive.org/web/20220912181712/https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Devyani_Khobragade_incident

It's like we're too stupid to realize that countries can retaliate.

I fucking hate meetings. And honestly, only women consider attending meetings to be the same as working. For the rest of us, it's time we could be working that was wasted.

Thanks; that's why I put it out there for someone who knows more than me.

Honestly, the whole concept of sovereign and qualified immunity seems convoluted and contradictory to me. In the case cited above the feds said they don't have jurisdiction over a state agency under the 11th Amendment, but I know the feds have gone after police agencies and state election agencies through federal court
