context:

The new legislation, sponsored in the state Senate by NYS Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. (D-Queens), was passed last year to combat the use of whipped cream chargers, also known as “whippits, whippets, or whip-its,” as an over-the-counter inhalant to get high. The chargers are filled with nitrous oxide, also known as “laughing gas,” which has euphoric effects and can be highly addictive with harmful effects if used improperly, including heart attacks, psychosis, brain damage, hearing loss, injuries and even sudden death.

I tried getting into them at some point. I don't speak French and I could barely find any scanlations. The small amount of stuff that has official English translations, I could not easily pirate. And you can sneer all you want, but I'm not gonna spend money up front on a medium I've had close to zero experience with. I buy things I know I'm going to enjoy.

That's a barrier of entry thick enough that I couldn't proceed, and I can't imagine a less motivated person even bothering. The truth is, even completely disregarding French comics, there's so much content out there and invariably some of it is very good. I'd love to give French comics a try if they were more accessible to me, but I don't see a reason to bend over backwards when I've got decades of carefully-curated content I could be reading/watching/listening to instead.

it's not ironic. by making it so even inviting a milquetoast clickbait grifter is inconceivable, you're preemptively banning everyone to their political right.

that's not a nitpick, it's very important to point out misinformation in these situations. it gets spread around by people who (understandably) don't have the time or patience to fact-check every little thing they hear.

this particular piece of misinformation surely didn't originate by someone's misunderstanding, it was malicious.

it's not that. they're assholes looking to bully someone, or losers with a desperate need to exact some infantile revenge fantasy. either way, current day internet gives them socially-acceptable avenues to get their dopamine rush.

I wouldn't be surprised if they'll push monkeypox as a COVID-tier threat anyway. (and by "threat", I mean: you should be deathly afraid of it and it's okay to shut down the entire economy and forcefully vaccinate you). reason being, there's enough circumstantial evidence about how this really came about. yet pointing it out is an affront to protected groups and so goes against years of social conditioning. crucially, a person's ability to ignore what he can see with his own eyes, and condemn people who point it out as heretics, is a testament of a being a true believer. it's the humiliation of believing an idea everyone clearly knows is false that creates the most fervent zealots, which the left needs.

...and also, I bet the elite really gets off on making you believe ridiculous things.

yes, I know about the attacks. I just found the title misleading because it implies the decision came around the same time as these attacks.

heads up: title references "recent attacks", but the article is almost 4 years old.

of course it's a travesty of a decision, the entire concept of protected groups is fucked, etc.

the plan is to rally Trump's fanbase, divide the voter base between him and DeSantis, then cheat enough to make it plausible.

I wonder if they'll listen now

let me stop you right there, the answer is no.

it would be better if it actually were random, but these people punch right systematically. especially the Lindsey-types who are only catering to the middle-right because the Overton window shifted and knocked them off their pedestal. these people are pathologically prone to punching right and cannot be trusted

this seems like an uncharacteristic strategic mistake from the Democrats.

the left's modus operandi nowadays is energizing their voter base with The Current Thing. yet they've been finding it harder and harder lately as the population grows increasingly lethargic. in particular, evidence suggests global warming was their Next Thing after Ukraine, but that it failed to generate the expected response.

that said, Roe vs Wade actually made quite a splash. so why would they lose their legitimacy here? as long as the Roe vs Wade ruling is in effect (no matter what the ruling actually means), they can present themselves as the opposition. publicly disregarding the ruling doesn't seem like a good idea.

a title is not descriptive if I have to click through to know what the fuck happened

TisDaRhythmOfDaNight 6 points ago +6 / -0

I don't care if you have strong opinions, but can you please make the thread titles descriptive?

I think the biggest blackpill of 2020 is just how many of these people exist. Coping was much easier when I could just dismiss these people as lunatics or shitlibs.

that condescending look the women get as soon as he says that is absolutely infuriating. "okay we can just dismiss this person"
