Can we change the age of majority to 21 already? If 18-year-olds are too fucking stupid to not snort whipped cream, they're too fucking stupid to vote too.

That's only a reaction to the symptom, not the underlying cause. It will ultimately not solve anything and only engender further "lets raise age of majority to XX" yet again. If kids are properly parented and properly schooled, age of majority could be 16.

It's consistent with all the other restrictions we put on them. After all, 18yos can't drink, buy guns, or even smoke now. The only thing they're allowed to do is drive and join the military to die for gay butt sex rights. The fact that we still call them "kids" after reaching 18 shows we don't treat them seriously, so why keep up the pretense that they're adults?

If kids are properly parented and properly schooled, age of majority could be 16.

You want more fucking Democrats? Even the most well-raised 16yo still lives with their parents and think in utopian ideals, which leftist parties will gleefully take advantage of.

I would never trust any 16 year old to make good decisions no matter how well they were raised. Their brains are literally not done growing. The age of majority should be 25.

Hard to do that when the government incentivizes single mothers, who are massive children themselves.

Ever heard of parentng kids?

Yup, this is the issue. In the past, age of majority could have been younger, with no issues. Now? You could make it 30, and still have issues.

How about telling people to be a fucking parent for 20 minutes? You know, that thing what cuts into you day drinking and Facebook posting? That thing you've replaced with handing your children a nightmare rectangle that pumps propaganda right into the soft spot in their head?

This should be top comment. All of this stems from outsourcing responsibility to the government because parents outsourced raising their kids to tablets- electrical and chemical.

TV babysitting began with the raising of Gen X and shows like Sesame Street more or less. It just got more prevalent in the generations since ....

Do teenagers really need whipped cream in pressurized aerosol containers? aka the assault rifle of cream based desert toppings.

Until you're of responsible age, it's tubbed Cool Whip for you!

I talked with a guy that bragged about going through $200 in whippits in a single evening. Let mother nature take it's course.

Cheaper to buy some heavy cream and whip it yourself anyway.

I'm waiting for the ATF ruling on that one.

Lol, I did the same thing with a deodorant can when I was 16.

Sat about giggling for five minutes then never did it again. Was fun, but not as fun as posting the word 'nigger' on the internet.

Good thing you didn't conk out. Deodorant cans use CFCs or butane or other toxic gasses as propellants. Nitrous is used in food-grade aerosols because it is non-toxic.

context:

The new legislation, sponsored in the state Senate by NYS Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. (D-Queens), was passed last year to combat the use of whipped cream chargers, also known as “whippits, whippets, or whip-its,” as an over-the-counter inhalant to get high. The chargers are filled with nitrous oxide, also known as “laughing gas,” which has euphoric effects and can be highly addictive with harmful effects if used improperly, including heart attacks, psychosis, brain damage, hearing loss, injuries and even sudden death.

can be highly addictive with harmful effects if used improperly, including heart attacks, psychosis, brain damage, hearing loss, injuries and even sudden death.

I can totally believe this sort of paternalistic HORSESHIT still lives in 2022. Half-step forward, giant leaps back.

These "harmful effects" are the result of lack of oxygen. The ignorant will huff nitrous without intervening breaths and conk out from hypoxia. NO2 itself is not toxic.

It's impossible to get a nitrous high from a can of whipped cream--not enough gas. Why would anyone, especially a kid, spend over fifty dollars to get enough whipped cream cans to get a buzz? Just order whippets online or an entire tank and get some balloons.

More totally idiotic state over-reach. More soccer-mom-style hysteria to show everyone that you "care about the kids."

Fucking disgusting.

I mean, could be worse. If this were San Francisco they'd be handing out empty cans to the homeless.

Should we have considered why existence is so miserable that people are looking for any possible method to escape it?

... nah, just ban current thing, then move on to the next thing.

The stores requiring this are run by people who are as aggressively, maliciously stupid as the nurses who think the procedures to deal with ectopic pregnancies have anything to do with elective abortions.
