The problem with business majors (at least from my experience) is that a lot of the field has to do with economics and understanding data. Both of which require a person to delve deep in what something (either the data they have or a prospective change) actually means in practice.
This requires a person to keep asking questions and formulating answers to then ask more questions and so on. Which sadly the education system has always been poorly structured to do, even before it went all insane on us.
An example of the thinking required by a business major should be in the lines of:
Products is in shelves! How did it get there? By truck! What was the costs of logistics? X amount! How did product get on the truck! It was in Y warehouse! How did it get there...... And so on. And a proper business major should be able to tell you every step from raw materials to finished product and more (not the actual values maybe since he would have to look it up) and this is one of the easiest examples I can think of as it's a straight chain.
Most of the ones I come across don't even do one question let alone provide answers. They don't know how to understand something as they were only taught to follow what a textbook says.

While I don't agree that climate change in its entirety is a 'hoax'
I should have been a bit more clear. I do believe that the climate changing is a thing and that we do have to deal with it. It's the political side of "climate change" that I am calling a hoax.
I see it like some old priest of Zeus telling people that lightning is Zeus being angry and then taking credit when it stops. Lightning/Climate changing is a natural phenomenon that we have to deal with, and though we can affect it somewhat we aren't majorly responsible for it happening.
However we do need to find ways to survive both, in case of lightning we got lightning rods to channel that energy towards the ground leaving most things around it relatively unscathed as an example. Similarly we probably will have to find a way to deal with the heat and possible problems that arise from it (energy consumption, climate controlled fields, etc.) while also taking into account a likely dip in temperatures in the far future.
It's the excessive taxation on and laws to make certain actions mandatory (as well as the media bludgeoning people with it) that I call a hoax.
Not to mention how counterproductive the measures they take are in dealing with the actual problem. Filters and electric cars won't do jack against the heat and if anything will draw power that could be used to cool down people's work places and houses. Not to mention the dumb as fuck green energy initiatives that almost always bite them in the ass or are just a massive waste of space.
Climate change is a great hoax for getting control of the population and taxing them so why would they stop.
They can literally take money from you and sit on their asses as the "problem" fixes itself. Forget cleaning rivers and oceans, that would have actual work out into it, no instead buy this over priced filter from my friend so you don't have to pay a fine (still have to pay taxes though).

Sadly now I'm picturing a game that will probably be 10 times better with story from 3 distinct walks of life that could depict ancient cultures and the differences in how the people around you would react to the various characters.
I'll support reparations when it also involves the person repaying back what the country wasted on them, this would naturally include the years of rent, the price that was paid for their purchase and transportation, all the money they drained from the system and finally the life that was saved by their ancestors not being killed off by the African tribe that enslaved them in the first place.

From my experience a lot of people that don't have kids or a spouse are those that are working to be able to handle such a commitment in as stable of an environment as possible.
These people are usually motivated and trying to build a better life for themselves and to have the government say they then can't vote would likely not have that much an impact.....until time after time they get shafted by the government (as is already the case) and this time they have the added resentment of their voice being muted by those in power.
This view of Elon's smells of rich person who has forgotten/never knew that a lot of people in society are smart enough to put thought into having children and not financially well off enough to be able to give them a decent life.
And all this before we take into account the other half of the problem, that you need 2 to tango and currently men must tango with their legs broken by all manner of unfair rules that will end your life should you pick a bad tango partner
I don't see what could possibly go wrong with people who don't have kids and so have more time on their hands being barred from voting, I mean it's not like they would get angry at the government for such a decision right ? Or use that extra time to do something about such a restriction......right ?

Honestly wouldn't call it sappy. Seems more grim than anything else, the realization that the person you are and the powers you wield will make it so that you sacrifice everything. And not because some force is pushing you to it but simply because that is the kind of person you are and so you engage in self destructive behaviour for the good of strangers and the overall good of society.
It is a tragic and grim realization that, in this case, only bolsters the hero's convictions to do what he believes to be the right thing. To sacrifice himself for the betterment of others and society as a whole no matter the personal cost.
It's always tragic when heroes don't get a happy ending but a very real depictions of what happens to many of the people we can consider heroes.
