Honestly wouldn't call it sappy. Seems more grim than anything else, the realization that the person you are and the powers you wield will make it so that you sacrifice everything. And not because some force is pushing you to it but simply because that is the kind of person you are and so you engage in self destructive behaviour for the good of strangers and the overall good of society.

It is a tragic and grim realization that, in this case, only bolsters the hero's convictions to do what he believes to be the right thing. To sacrifice himself for the betterment of others and society as a whole no matter the personal cost.

It's always tragic when heroes don't get a happy ending but a very real depictions of what happens to many of the people we can consider heroes.

That is true and never being able to rest. Look at Batman. Even in Batman Beyond he was still fighting crime in a different way despite his age.

This is the fundamental difference between classic heroes and the new "heroes" the woke activists push. True heroism means self-sacrifice for a greater good. None of the activists understand that; instead they're like spoiled children who can only think of what makes themselves feel good.

I recently got and read Amazing Spider-Man 50. I have issues before and after but this one has been a tough one to get. This is what I love about comics and why Spider-Man and Superman are my all time favorite characters because of their idealism and their desire to see the best in people. Just burns me up how so many IPs are owned by people who hate the product or by people who think “the wrong people are enjoying it” and they feel the need to change it
