Therapy can be good, that said it is also good to talk about stuff to a friend or some anon on the internet.
The difference being in the effectiveness of each method but generally just talking about stuff will generally improve your mental state.
Just be careful not to get caught up in a echo chamber that makes you believe that you don't have a problem and you're good.
With all that a therapist who is very good might be a lot more effective that the other methods, emphasize on the "very good" part but they also charge for it and a bad therapist can also be far more damaging.

The story of a masked vigilante with high moral principles living in a criminal filled neighborhood could be very interesting. Listening to the local gangbangers talking about how they hate said vigilante as they worship thug culture.
You want to tell black stories ? How about a kid that tries to overcome his surroundings, his friends and family, his neighbors and colleagues who almost worship crime. A kid who tries to be better than those around them, who struggles to become that "better person" he hears about on the news while everything in life tries to drag him down to a life of thuggish rebellion against perceived wrongdoings. All with a superhero spin to the whole thing, his mask arresting people he sees every day while fighting the temptation to give in and use his powers for the thug life.
Who am I kidding, no way they would ever do such a story in current year. Oh well there are other games to play.
As someone that hates breaking their own word this exact problem keeps me from a lot of social interactions.
As my health is quite frankly abysmal (nothing serious just highly inconvenient) I am very much hesitant to promise to do things yet it seems like more and more people just want that promise even of you don't keep it.
