You're right, but it's still the same principle. Only the implementation can be patented, not the actual concept in itself. Which, given how different the 2 games are, is statistically impossible that they have the exact same code and implementation.
I would take the ratings systems away entirely and just do it with comments
How is that any different? Isn't what a player review already is, apart from the additional thumb up / thumb down? How will it fix what you're complaining about?
how many copies sold.
Unfortunately, I don't think Valve is legally allowed to do that. But anyway, again, how would that solve anything you're criticising?
Sees LGBT game controllers of all kind on that reddit page
Wow, even for Reddit that must be some Kotaku-level game journalists woke subreddit.
It's just /r/game
Oh... well, close enough I guess.
We were placed on "Woke Alert" curator lists before release, attracting negative attention.
Why do you want positive attention from the people who you say are bigots / homophobic and such? Shouldn't it be good that your game is being despised by the people you hate so much?
These reviews have dropped our rating from what would have been 96% to 94%
As if those 2% are going to make a difference between business success and bankruptcy. You chose to alienate the majority of people with woke shit, now you're paying the price. Even with 100% positive reviews your game will bomb, because sane people are tired of this. The "Modern Audience", according to Dustborn and Flintlock, is in the few hundred of people at most.
What should Steam be doing about activist reviews?
Pathetic hypocrite. It's fine when they are being the activists and infest all game studio in existence to corrupt them from the inside, but when people boycott them, as usual, they run to "Daddy big company" and "Daddy government" to help them.
It's ironically very racist to say "Asian samurai" to describe Japanese samurai. Is he thinking all asians are the same? Just another case of woke people showing their true color.
But I bet he can't even name 2 games anyway, and certainly not a single real Japanese samurai.
2024 is shaping to be one of the worst year of gaming for me. We have endless woke slops coming out each month, and the few games I was waiting for (EDF 6, Helldivers 2) all had massive terrible business decision which could have been very easily avoided.
Except EDF 4.1 and EDF 5 were both working with P2P, never relied on anything like EOS, and they work perfectly fine even to this day. The only thing they need is a main server for the server browser, which is very light and, again, was already working anyway.
The only reason they used EOS is for cross-play. However, there is no cross-play between consoles and PC, so the only possible cross-play on Steam is with the Epic Game Store (and its 3 users). So yeah, completely useless system that will cost them quite a lot.
People generally mix up good and nice. Being good is doing the right thing, even if may hurt (yourself or the others). Being nice is lying to everyone's face to tell them what they want to hear. If Jesus was nice, the world would love him. But the world doesn't, because Jesus is good, not nice.
This is a major problem today, that I see often especially with parents. They think they should be nice to their kids, never raise their voice, never tell them no, encourage them to do and try anything. That's just not how you educate someone, and that's not how God educates us either.
I find it super weird how, suddenly, all major news channel all over the world is talking about Biden. Even in Canada or France, it was completely silenced for years, and then suddenly it's the news for weeks. Do they want Trump to pass so to sabotage him or something? There's clearly have a plan behind all this.
The difference is, no one tried to re-write history when Afro Samurai was written. It was always considered as fiction from A to Z, and no one said "By the way, he was a real samurai".
However, they tried and keep trying to push Yasuke as a real samurai, even the official AC website says "Yasuke, the powerful African samurai of historical legend.". They are straight up trying to re-write history, and this is where it stops being a purely fictional story.
And still, to this day, no one can say what Yasuke's last name was. All samurais had last name.
because birth rates are low right now
They aren't just "low" though. A good chunk of developed countries have 1.5 children per woman, that means we're losing 1 people over 4 every generation. Canada is at 1.3, so it's 1 people over 3. The worst one, South Korea, is at 0.68 children per woman, that means that every generation, they will lose 2 out of 3 people.
So far, the birth-rates are still decreasing steadily year after year, and there's no sign it's going to stop soon.
And yes, if you have less and less people every generation, it will eventually
You can't refer to history since no country-size population has ever died out due to low birth rates.
My point was addressing your "Better conditions = birth rates go back up". The first and main reason birth rates started to decrease massively, is because of better health care and conditions (people live longer, and children mortality has massively decreased). All developed countries have very low birth rates, while they all have good if not very good living conditions. Almost all poor countries have very high birth rates, in the contrary.
Finally, the perpetrators of the mass replacement admit their objectives: economic growth. It's that simple. They literally say: "but how will we drive the economy?"
Do you think they are perfect and everything? Do you think they can predict absolutely everything and understand the consequences of each action they take? No, I don't think so. They want money, and chose the short term goal to max their money without care for humanity in the next 50 years.
They pushed feminism so that women enter the job market and reduce wages while increasing the number of consumers (so both reducing cost, and increasing profits), and they probably never thought nor cared if it would collapse birthrates even further.
Didn't say the contrary, but if the economy is adapted toward 100 people, then suddenly you have 10k, the economy won't be able to follow and a crisis is inevitable. Same if go you from 10k to 100 people. Also, big companies don't care about the people, they care about their money. People, to them, are just a way to get more money.
Lower population = better conditions = birth rates go back up. It's a cycle.
First, we don't know this, no society has ever reached this stage of the demographic transition model. We're barely entering stage 5 (declining), which wasn't even a thing 20 years ago.
The reason natality originally went down, is actually because of better conditions and healthcare (Stage 2 and 3), so what you're saying is wrong according to the history of all societies.
The disaster would be that modern economy / logistics / etc. are made for current population. Any society made for X number of people, but suddenly losing 80% of it in a few generations, would collapse. If you could scale everything down, it could be feasible, but with companies focused on growth and making more money year after year, they would drop your country and focus on countries with still on-going growth (further escalating things further).
Robotics and AI research are quickly adding in the billions of dollars, and that's not even talking about implementing it in businesses, how are you supposed to find that much personal, money and resources, if you have 20% of today's population?
Remember the "smart"-crisis? Smart-fridge, smart oven, smart cars, smart-TV. AI is the next evolution of that, except that this time, it's not mostly limited to consumers / individuals, but can also widely be used by companies. And the average suit is just as stupid as the average consumer.
People are obsessed with technology nowadays, so when the latest tech is finally in a working state and presented to the world, they all rush to use it and to apply it to things it's not designed for.
Then, you add to this the fact that fake-intelligence is a very good illusion for consciousness. From a non-tech guy, if he can have a discussion with an AI like ChatGPT, he will (wrongly) imagine the AI has some sort of consciousness of its own, as if it was a real person, rather than just a more complex algorithm of Google search. If AIs weren't allowed to use "I" to talk about themselves, I bet people wouldn't feel as comfortable using them.
Here's what this "pope" is saying in public: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/aug/29/pope-francis-criticizes-us-conservatives#:~:text=The%20pope%20also%20said%3A%20%E2%80%9CI,progress%20and%20consolidate%20over%20time.
What he said:
I want to remind these people that backwardness is useless, and they must understand that there’s a correct evolution in the understanding of questions of faith and morals
What the Bible says:
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
What Francis said is the exact opposite. Christian values should never change or "evolve", because Christian values are based on the Word of God, Who is eternal and always the same. Claiming you need to evolve your morals and values because of today's society, means you're letting corruption of the world enter the Church (many warnings against that in the Bible).
Pope Francis formally approved letting Catholic priests bless same-sex couples, the Vatican announced Monday, a radical shift in policy that aimed at making the church more inclusive while maintaining its strict ban on gay marriage.
Let me know how you think this is a legitimate successor of St Peter or any other Saints. Not only it's about accepting LGBT as a valid life-style, it's also allowing them to be a part of the "church", and forcing other Christians to either tolerate this kind of stuff, or move them away from the real Church of God (lose-lose in both case).
There's no "Inclusion" to have. Jesus himself said "Many are called but few are chosen". If you actually want to save people and help them find God, the least you could do is not encourage them to stray even further away from Him, like this pope has been doing many times.
How is it "defamation" though? I thought there was nothing wrong at all with being transgender as they are just "normal people". Isn't suing for that, proving that transgenders are just objectively bad people, then?
Community Manager is the equivalent of HR but outside the company. We never needed it, and we still don't need it, it's a fake job. Your day is literally to handle the worst of Discord and the worst of Twitter at the same time. That would eventually drive anyone crazy.
Reminds me of that Canadian ad promoting suicide. Only Canadian ad I saw in 10 years with only white people.
