Make no mistake, China absolutely will clamp down on any dissent. They will bother with even the pettiest of grievances. However, China does it quietly. The journalist will disappear and nobody is allowed to notice that the journalist disappeared. In mainland China, the biggest source of anger is when the government messes with their children. The main difference is that the CCP has an obsession with saving face in anything they do. They will hide or suppress anything that might make them look bad, even when they know they can get away with it. I can't help but feel like the dumbing of children in America is a result of increasing Hispanic and Black minorities populations in schools. I'm not a tech guru, but if you are constantly deleting things from that hard drive, then I believe it does impact the "life span" of the hard drive. As for the media player, unless that media player has a ton of flash memory, wouldn't it also use an HDD or SSD? Why not just buy an SSD instead?
My problem with Trump is that he surrounds himself with people who will EASILY backstab him given the chance. If he gets re-elected by some miracle of the establishment underestimating the amount of votes they need to conjure up for Biden, then it will be 4 years of every government institution ignoring any and all policies he pushes forward or actively sabotaging any and all efforts that Trump suggests besides supporting Israel.

This is why I hesitate about the idea of bringing back forced institutionalization and mental asylums in modern America. It was a mistake to abandon these ideas post WWII, but bringing them back in the current era would lead to political dissidents getting institutionalized while the mentally insane homeless would be left free to rot on the streets.
No conservative politician currently in office would be arrested for Terrorism. They would be the first in line to condemn the protestors killed by the government and would proceed to agree with everything Democrats demanded.
I think the common sentiment is "how long will this last before people stand up?" Quite frankly, I don't expect the Europeans (or any Western nation) to fight back against this.
