I'm just happy with vanilla, oyakodon and mind break thank you very much lol
I only know oyakodon as a delicious chicken and egg dish.
Now I'm scared.
True, but the pundit I listened to this morning was also blaming "messaging."
I hate to say it, it's not them messaging, abortion restriction are a loser almost everywhere. End of story.
If Republicans want to get control of the issue they need a clear policy at the state and national level (not national LAWS, but the agreement within the party). That's not going to happen. Repubs depend too much on religious absolutists on the abortion issue.
As for the abortion thing, Moloch has a strong grip over the minds of women.
For every single Moloch-minded baby mama who gets an abortion, there's another Moloch-minded semen donator who planted that seed.
Women fired up about abortion because it might possibly effect them? Selfish, yes. Surprising? Fuck no. I'm surprised so many people are surprised. It's also not much more selfish that than the dude who just wanted to get his dick wet.
Sorry boys. Ohio has fallen.
Ohio has long been a heavily mixed state (rural farmers, urban blacks, union labor, etc.) though it has trended strongly red in recent years.
Abortion restrictions are just not a winning election issue for Republicans. End of story. Conservatives spent 50 years hyping up their base with getting rid of Roe v. Wade. They won. Now their base went home, satisfied, and the majority of people who are in favor of legal abortion are being hyped up by the dems.
an israeli guy huh? this is going to be so bad
Yes, Jews have a reputation for being shit in Hollywood and the arts.
Many Americans don't know how unusual it is for courts to make laws on abortion. Dobbs just changes American constitutional law to be the same as it is elsewhere in the world. Just like voter ID is the norm basically everywhere. The CNN drones live in their own universe.
Most Americans are very insular in regards to politics (and rationally so). My best debating tactic when it comes to Voter ID (and a surprising number of other issues) is to yack about how much more fair and just European laws are, get agreement, talk about how we should aim to emulate the French, the Dutch, etc., get agreement, and then break out voter ID issue.
And I fully agree with you on the substance of abortion. You're not expressing a view on this ballot measure, but I think this is wrong - because it will result in judges deciding matters of abortion, and that will lead to sweeping as opposed to finely tuned law.
Yeah, I didn't comment on the ballot measure, but I would vote against the measure. I very much believe in the constitution as the Founders saw it -- minimalist.
It amuses me to no end when, mostly Democrats, think it's some huge "gotcha" that states are now deciding, one-by-one, what abortion rules look like. Or how Democrats made such a big deal over multiple rounds of voting for a Speaker of the House.
Guess what--this is EXACTLY what the democratic process should look like. Discussion, debate, voting, and eventual agreement.
Legislating from the bench is one of the greatest evils in America, and I say that whether or not my side or the other side benefits. Laws should be not be made by the courts.
I believe abortion is a moral wrong.
I believe abortion is pragmatically a net good.
I do not believe abortion is a federal right, nor do I think the federal government or SCOTUS should magic up a right to abortion. I am thrilled about Dobbs.
I am in favor of states determining abortion rules.
I am in favor of limits, but not bans, on abortion.
I both support Dobbs and would vote against an abortion ban.
I don't think my viewpoint is uncommon, and that seems supported by what's happened across the country.
tl;dr, get the federal government out of abortion, limits not bans.
Anyone play Don’t Starve? (saw Don’t Starve Together was on the list.)
I tried it a year or so back. Seemed interesting and well-made, but I didn’t really get into it. Wondering if I should try again.
stormfags gonna stormfag.
I find it amusing how seriously they take their downvotes. Way to go dudes, you click a button on a webpage--that'll show "(((them)))". Badass!
Wow, Jimmy Kimmel looks like crap (Botox? face lift?) and has way too much makeup or eyebrow something going on.
Suitable for kids?
Just like how MTF "women+" make the best athletes, Islamist+ jews make the best antisemites.
Salt as enemy #1 is outdated and old news. Even "hippie" types have acknowledged this for some time (e.g., https://www.peoplespharmacy.com/articles/is-salt-good-or-bad-for-your-health ).
Re the water thing, while drinking a larger amount of water may not be a panacea, it's certainly not bad for you, and does help with kidney function, bladder function, etc., especially for people who are susceptible to stones.
And there are far, far worse, and far, far stupider (and more expensive!) things people could be doing than drinking water!
Hahahaha.
Stormcucks are so gullible.
I've promoted Lower Decks here on many occasions, and I don't recall ever getting downvoted. Side note, anyone who cares about up and downdoots should STOP caring.
SNW is debatable. It's better than Disco, I just find it deathly dull. THe Lower Decks/SNW crossover was one of the best things I've ever seen.
I don't get your take. Many beloved "nerd" franchises have been absolutely shat on in recent years. Star Wars. Star Trek. Wheel of Time. Blizzard games. Rings of Power. etc.
Wokeness may be (and, imho, is) a part of this, but that doesn't change the reality that these "new takes" on classics suck. That's not even a particularly niche opinion from rando shitlords on a stormcucked .win site.
I was a huge Star Trek fan, and today I'm completely disconnected from the franchise. It's not because the franchise is now woke, it's because it sucks and no longer feels connected to the Star Trek of the 70s through 00s. The nicest thing that even fans say is that it's a new take to modernize Star Trek for audiences these days, etc.
You can find plenty of recommendations of games, books, movies, etc., on this site.
Clash of civilizations. Hegelian dialectic--thesis and anti-thesis.
Imagine you are a leftist homosexual in America.
Image you are either--or perceive yourself to be--discriminated against.
Identify the party that you identify as your enemy. (Hint, whites, Christians, and those of traditional morality.)
The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
So, who is the enemy of your enemy AND a people who are oppressed? Palestinians.
Being opposed to--or by--those of traditional values is enough.
These people are morally bankrupt and entirely corrupted by an overly simpliied Marxist oppressed / oppressor that rots them to the core. Being "oppressed" is the ultimate virtue, the ultimate achievement, and the ultimate group identity.
"more anti sexy feminists on twitter"
You repeat youself.
There's a reason why Rush called feminists feminazis and repeatedly said that feminism was created as a way for ugly women to enter the mainstream and gain power in culture.
Because it's true.
And every year there's a new crop coming through.
Eco's specialty was language, symbolism, literature, and the Medieval. The Name of the Rose combines all of that! It was perfect for me. I've tried to read two other Eco books and couldn't finish them.
Similarly, I admire Noam Chomsky's linguistics work for his originality and his contributions that have advanced even computer science. I do NOT admire--or care--about his political blatherings.
I read about half of the Three Body Problem. I've read a decent amount of non-English literature in translation, and to me, some authors and cultures translate better than others.
Three Body Problem just struck me as very Chinese, for lack of a better term, in a way that I found jarring. Ultimately, I got bored and quit reading.
For an entirely different genre and a VERY different kind of book that I feel very succesfully translates a foreign culture and civilization to English, I would highly recommend "My Name is Red" by the Turkish author Orhan Pamuk.
Another one I would highly recommend is "The Name of the Rose" by Italian Umbero Eco. It's dense as hell, but it's a wild ride.
"Oh no, how sad. Anyway..."
I seem to be using this one a lot recently.
Wow, an oldtimer who still knows that! True enough, but in popular parlance, Third World refers to what dekachin calls "the poors". When we talk about First World Infrastructure, we don't mean infrastructure that's stamped "NATO", after all.
Or the new phrase beloved by douchebags everywhere, the "Global South."
For "world" knowledge, I can thank one of my social studies teachers who was a good teacher, a Russophile, and teaching my class during the exact moment that the Soviet Union was collapsing!
Ever read the Kurt Vonnegut short story "Harrison Bergeron" ?
It's just addressing that mention of 'third world' in the title. Irish peasants were even poorer than black slaves according to W.E. Dubois, and they had a life expectancy that was about half. This doesn't make them bad, but it does mean that Ireland was a bit of a third world country.
Actually I guess from a different kind of perspective, Ireland was third world!
That would be the original meaning of the word as Europe/NATO/allies were "first world," Russia/Eastern Europe/Communist nations/allies were the "second world," and everyone else was third world. That would include Ireland. Not a particularly helpful usage of the term though.
And yes, the Appalachian poverty belt, even today, is highly Scots-Irish, from Georgia, really intensifying in North Carolina and Virginia, but stretching through West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and NY. I have a diary of a relative who grew up in Apalachia. Their house did not have running water or electricity in the 1950s; she wrote about waking up with a layer of snow on her bed that had blown in through the wooden siding, etc.
Crazy stuff.
Oh bullshit.
Yes, graphically things are very different now, but I came of age in the 80s and 90s and there was plenty of downloadable porn, pornographic games, etc. The early days of the Internet were wild.
I played a Star Trek text adventure game where you could fuck Troi, explicitly.
Before the Internet, there was a local BBS (does anyone remember those) with two phones lines--most only had one--that you could dial in on that had degenerate shit, super tame by today's standards, but pictures, stories, games, etc.
Leisure Suit Larry? From the 80s. https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/romancing-the-code-the-hooker-scene-in-leisure-suit-larry
The same as BG3/Witcher sex scenes? Nope, but this shit has only grown with the technology. It's been there since early days.
