So looking at his edits...it looks like the reddit cancer doesn't like his decision to not fund the mind virus the daughter was indoctrinated with.

EDIT: Skimmed the replies in that thread. Now I have Ebola. thanks OP.

No, I'm not a Trump person. More of a Reagan republican.

Its actually kind of sad this dumbass thought that this statement had a chance in hell of calming the mob.

If Trump is Hitler, Reagan is literal Satan.

Reddit banned so many people that the only people left replying are insane leftists. From all over the Western world. It is the new Tumblr, a good platform taken over by crazy SJW. So, it isn't the place to ask any sane question really. There are several web forums, the old ones, that still exist and still have thousands of active users.

Reddit is a globalist platform now. Every "nation" and "city" sub is run by the most radical of leftists, none of whom even believe in national sovereignty or the value of local culture.

TLDR; Even default foreign country subs are now radical left circlejerks. My country (Portugal)'s default sub being one of them, after being a bastion of free speech.

Even default foreign subs have been taken over by hardcore leftists.

My country's sub (Portugal) used to be completely free speech. You had commies on one side and (actual) fascists on the other. They would fight and fight in the comments but never be banned.

Suddenly, this year, a new mod showed up, he is a communist and started banning anyone that's right wing. Most users believed it was a planted mod to turn the sub into a leftist circlejerk. Obviously, you had the usual commies saying "hurr durr you're just mad you're getting banned for being racist/xenophobic/homophobic/islamophobic/etc.".

This led to a user creating the r/portugueses sub where MANY users from r/portugal migrated to.

At the start, there were a lot of CHEGA posts (a "far"-right political party in Portugal that is getting a lot of attention) and a lot of anti-left memes. Then, all of a sudden, again, the sub magically started getting flooded with communists to the point everything is getting downvoted (brigaded). They purposefully go there because they already have the default r/portugal sub under their complete control. Now they're pissed they can't control the narrative over at r/portugueses and are trying to get it banned.

And this is how Nature balances out a high tech sapient animal that's gone out of control.

There goes a potential technologist into the scrap heap of a useless existence. When the Western technological web falls, so will the rest of the species.

The thing I don't understand is, as an engineer and generally a "things" oriented person, I can't imagine any scenario where I would switch from an engineering major to a "studies" major. Even if for some reason I couldn't (or didn't want to) do my engineering thing I would still try to work in skilled trades building stuff.

If this daughter didn't want to live and breathe mechanical engineering, we're probably better off not having her work as a mechanical engineer.

When the Western technological web falls, so will the rest of the species.

The thing that scares me the most is that if humanity descends into another technological dark age, recovery may well be literally impossible due to most of the easily accessible fuel resources having already been consumed.

It will be literally millions of years before major deposits of coal, oil and gas resources form close enough to the surface to be accessible without serious insustrial machinery, meaning that if humanity fumbles back to a pre-industrial (or frankly, even just early-industrial) level, that's it. Game over, our species dies on this planet because there's literally no way off it.

Then for anyone smart enough to understand the importance of our species' survival, we really don't have much time to get the hell off this rock. I don't think the madness will stop without the crash of everything.

Then again, I do wonder if we could even escape the planet without the insanity being brought along for the ride, at this point.

I have an hypothesis where the function of a technological species is for to get rid of that "easily accessible" biological waste product that accumulates and eventually gets too close to the surface - or permeates it - and becomes literal poison and tar traps for plants, animals, and fungi alike. An animal that "eats" that crap via its technology, and turns it back into carbon for the plants ...

Man's usefulness in his ecological role is coming to an end ...

A couple geologists I used to talk to over fidonet did admit that if some kind of dinosaur lived and died with the kind of society like we have now, we'd never find traces of it, and even if we did, it'd be interpreted as something man-made that intruded. And that our estimates of how fast coal and oil and stuff accumulates is based on the assumption that humans are the first ones to ever make use of it. (In other words, it could be possible that a bacterium did literally eat oil before, but it went extinct without a trace. Or that some kind of raptor, or early cenozoic mammal or something (or maybe many, every few tens of millions of years, coinciding with extinction pulses) got up to the oil-using stage, and then imploded on themselves just like Man is starting to do.)

Overspecialization of lifestyle doesn't just refer to what one eats. Man has become dependent on his own technology, just as the koala is dependent on eucalyptus trees existing.

If I remember correctly, on three occasions the sequestration of carbon led to vast ice ages that nearly turned Earth into a perpetual ice planet. Each time, something would happen that released the carbon back into the atmosphere. We're that third event.

And I just found out about something called "spiteful mutations", which would seem to be the mechanism I was searching for.

Take away selection pressure, and these spiteful mutations build up in a population, or in many populations, of a "privileged" species. These mutants have a socially detrimental effect on the other people (of whatever species) around them, and their society eventually falls apart, causing a dieback; it keeps cycling until the species goes extinct. (Or evolves its physical form in a way that makes it appear to have gone extinct.) And yeah, I can see each dieback resulting in a pulse of technological progress, and a concurrent dependency upon that technology, which leads to prosperity, mutations, and dieback ...

Hhhhhhrrrrmmm. I see your point. I was assuming that if/when the ice sheet melts, be it climate change or continental drift, eventually bare dirt would show.

Also, I wonder if mining landfills for raw materials, would be profitable. For example, in India trash pickers are able to make a living. Not saying it's wonderful, but on the other hand if all civilization collapses life is going to be pretty shitty for everyone left.

Since he's asked on Reddit I'm sure he's totally screwed in the answers.

I'm not sure how I'd handle that, but I'm not even sure I'd pay for that school anymore even with her staying in Mechanical Engineering. As far as I see it that proposition is basically wanting to change and totally throw her entire life in the trash. At the very least if the Dad can't snap her out of this BS he cannot be a party to it.

I have a brother who was a super Christian type before going into college. In 2016 after trump won, he told me he hoped trump's election was the "death knell of white Christian America." Like I dont consider myself a Christian but what a terrifying statement especially when you consider less than a decade earlier the dude was super devout. Leftism is his religion now and its frightening.

Don't think that homeschooling or private schools or living out in the boonies and teaching your daughter to change a tire and how to shoot a .22 when she's 14 is going to be the vaccine to Leftism you're hoping it will be

There's your problem right there. That's not a vaccine, that's sheltering them. True inoculation is exposing someone to weakened version of the disease from an early age.

You have to drill into them to think for themselves, to not conform regardless of how convenient it would be, and to learn more to back up their ideals. Show them the absurdity up front and the inevitable failures that leftism creates. They need to fully understand the "why," not just the "what."

Had I ran into a leftist group when I first started getting redpilled, I wouldn't have stood a chance and would probably be rioting with Antifa right now. However, I was able to learn more to back up my beliefs and justifications so I can compete with any indoctrination.

It won't teach your daughter to paint in period blood.

What an oddly specific denial. This is like going into a butcher shop and, when you don't seem interested in buying, the butcher tries to boost your odds of buying by telling you that he didn't rub his dick on any of the meat.

A lot of them would probably call him the asshole for denying his son too. They are absolutely biased towards women's studies, but any useless degree is a huge plus for their movement. They want butts in seats. They will wholeheartedly deny the fact that colleges are indoctrination centers but deep down they know its true, its just they support it because it helps their cause.

Honestly? This is kinda what you get for paying for everything for your kids. They end up not taking their schooling seriously, because mommy/daddy are still driving the car. They need "driving lessons" before you hand over the wheel, or else they inevitably drive themselves over a cliff, because it might look "fun," not realizing no parent in the world is capable of catching your fucking car.

I absolutely hate how many parents fail to have the foresight for this sort of inevitability. Nurturing is cool and all, but that's only step fucking 1. You can't just buy their way into adulthood you absolute morons. Sure, it opens kids up for opportunity, but that's about it. If they lack the motivation, that opportunity may as well be a wall.

I blame fickle marriages. The mother/father dynamic plays heavily in what kid needs to properly develop. Take one out of the picture, and those ideals get lopsided as all fuck. You end up with a mom that's all nurture but no push. You end up with just a dad that just wants to push you out of the house, leading to the kid with little early financial stability. It is INCREDIBLY difficult for a single parental entity to fulfill both roles, because the kid will identify you as one or the other. Not both.

Sorry, got a little ranty there...

As someone who went through paying for it myself, it's really the way to go. Just let your kids grow up knowing that their education is not paid for them and they better figure it out. I did it with a combination of living at home still, junior college scholarships, and just plain old working a lot to write tuition checks. Sure, it took a couple years longer but I was just so much better set up for a good start to life. I had a lot of real world work experience that showed I could actually hold a job, the college degree, and I took no loans so no ridiculous mountain of debt. I suppose I gave up the stupid notion that college should be an experience you see in a frat party movie, because I was too damn busy for that lifestyle. I don't think I lost anything there.

It can be done, and not just the way I did it. Military service for example...even something like the national guard will get college paid for and for the most part you're giving up a year for training, some weekend service, and likely a deployment or two over the enlistment.
