I can’t fathom their strategy at this point. Sales for the system are so bad that Costco removed the console from shelves. So they increased prices again. And now this? Microsoft really should just announce they’re getting out of gaming.
Microsoft must be hurting after buying Activision-Blizzard so they're looking into underhanded tactics to recoup on those lost revenues
The thing is the more they price hike the subscription the less appealing the subscription becomes to the masses
We're talking about millions of people, that means they literally lose more money with shameless greed than letting the subscription price stayvthe same
They're milking the niche they have because they know they can't grow any larger. Lots of simulation games are like that. Eventually you will spend the same amount as an actual car to get all the trains for this game before the sequel comes out. Sims does it so often it's sort of hilarious. The entire painted miniature battle scene is like this.
this is how subscription services make their money. they advertise their service super cheap and run at a loss to build a customer base, then quietly increase the subscription price and hope a large portion of their customer base won't notice.
the loyal customers will be salty, but will keep their subscription.
the unloyal customers will unsubscribe.
the customer's not paying attention, which is the majority, will pay the increased fee.
There's still shit you can use to "get around" this by trading in the lower priced stuff by buying it in bulk (from places that sell them in bulk) and then "converting" it to the higher tier. I know they nerfed it a bit but you can still do it.
But, who the fuck plays on Xbox/Microsoft Live anyway? Stick to Steam.
I always saw it as a Trojan horse for all manner of corporate abuse, the same that we see in streaming services. Which is why I wanted nothing to do with it.
It was just a modern day version of buying a Blockbuster membership. Thinking it was anything more or less than that was retardation.
I used a bunch of those "first month 1$" accounts to mess around with a bunch of games to see if I enjoyed them, bought the ones I really liked, and moved on from there. Exactly like I used to do with rentals back in the day.
People got really hung up on fluffing it up into something it wasn't, including Microsoft for marketing, but it was just a cheap rental service for gaming.
These fuckers are going to continue to abuse and take advantage of customers by making subscription services the only way forward and then pull shit like this at the drop of a hat. It's going to be universal and ubiquitous. This is why it's morally correct to pirate every single thing with reckless abandon until they change their fucking attitude and to mitigate your headaches. I only buy games that are both good and created by people/studios that aren't cucked, which means I've largely only bought indie games for the past decade or so.
Saw it coming.. once they are comfortable and capture enough market theyll raise the price. I actually didnt think they would do this until they are dominant over other platforms.
I had a friend who had an xbox account that got locked for having the name "boobies".
You will live your hole, eat your bugs and be happy... No wait, they don't want you happy. Be miserable.... No wait, be happy with what they give you....
Ah, the mentality of bipolar narcissistic sociopaths/ the possessed. Truly a wonder to behold.
Well I didn't quite see the price change coming out to that much, but even outside of desire to not give money to Microsoft I'm glad I walked away from that a year ago or whenever I did. I might have spent the $180 the premium would have cost on games this year, but I got exactly what I wanted for that. I actually suspect it's been less this year. I probably didn't spend $30 a month on average in the days I was preordering and buying new releases a decade ago.
Ironic, because the literal only draw Gamepass had for most of its run was how shockingly cheap it was for what you got. It easily paid for itself if you played even a couple games through it, especially Day One releases.
Every corporation these days seems to just think "oops inflation, line must go up!" will justify increasing their prices on things, when if not for the noticeable cheapness nobody would even bother to begin with. Its the lesson McDonalds just learned the hard way as well.
Wow they bumped ultimate from 18$ to 30$ per month?! (And i still remember when it was 10$)
These shekelsniffers have lost their goddamn minds
I will be paying 0$ and sailing the high seas

Internet go drdr and 3D Printer go brrrrdddrrr
The jeets are running the company. Saartegy is not in their comprehension.
This is the truth.
It’s the DarkSydePhil strategy, they just need to find a few whales to keep them afloat.
Not working out well from him, won't work out well for M$ either. Hope they actually, financially hurt from this.
They can still milk some money on the PC side, but I don't use the Windows Store cuz I have Windows 10 LTSC lol

it's basically the hidden subscription scam.
I remember when we could buy the subscription in Turkey (for about 3$) and transfer it overseas
Really? It wasn't region locked?
No - you could do a one time transfer of your xbox along with up to 36 months of gamepass
Ure being scammed on everything like this. The jeets are paying $2 for stuff you're paying 20 for.
Reason enough to not buy from microsoft.

It's sad that you have to pay to play online.
Am I alone in thinking that game pass was always retarded?

Nope
Even $10/mo is way overpriced.
And pushing cloud gaming at the same time. This will be the end of media preservation

Not paying for that shit anyways. But now I feel even more vindicated.
Best o'luck to 'em. I ain't payin' for that shit.

Thing is, I don’t want to play any of these games in the first place.
