The activist courts are already going to obstruct this measure by every means available to them. Trying to apply it to H1B holders already in the US would hand them the ammo they need to roadblock it until Trump was out of office. As much as we'd all love to see it applied to them as well, Trump's advisors probably determined that the best way to get this policy actually implemented was to leave them out of it.
It is pretty much recommended that the trump administration just extrajudically kill all infiltrators in the us government for national security and anti-corruption reasons.
Yeah, people are once again pissed letting the perfect be the enemy of the good.
This is why most of us would make shitty politicians, because we would be unable to get the system to bend to our will instead of taking as many wins as possible.
Yeah unless it’s a gun policy, like the bump stock ban Trump did through his executive order during his first term that turned millions of legal gun owning citizens into instant criminals with the stroke of a pen, all because of a false flag in Las Vegas that was quite obviously covered up by the Trump admin, That’s the thing though, Trump never gives issues that relate to our interest his full attention and effort, it’s always a half measure if he does anything good at all. The only time he goes all in to benefit some group is when he’s helping out the j’ws in some way, like with antisemitism EO’s, or giving Israel an absurd amount of funding.
I was told I needed to clap like a trained seal over this instead of being skeptical and demanding it be far more punitive. Now we see it get defanged and I want my "I told you so".
Overnight on all existing H1B would create a massive shock in the system. And while these companies deserve this shock, the current economy isn't in a state to handle this.
That said, there is million ways of doing a staged rollout for existing visas. Like immediate effect on all new applicants, $1000/month fee on all existing that will be steadily raised to the full value. This would give companies time to find replacements at a steady rate and control costs without the shock therapy
Meh, the economy wasn't in a state to absorb turning the global economy off and on again but that didn't stop anyone. I say chuck 'em all out and get on with it.
All this pussyfooting around is just excuse making.
The global economy didn't quite break yet, but it's close enough that a sudden 1 day H1B revocation might just finally push it over the edge.
I fully agree that we should just let the whole thing finally crash the way it should have in the late 80s, but no politician will ever accept the pain and we will continue to kick the can down the road until everything turns into Weimar.
It’s like most republicans don’t have any ability to see patterns, and then when they think back, they tend to only remember a policy Trump talked about implementing, rather than what actually got implemented in the end, then they proclaim “pRoMiSeS MaDe pRoMiSeS kEpT” as if they haven’t been getting fucked the entire time.
According to an anonymous source to a leftwing rag, so I'm gonna take this with a grain of salt.
That said, I kinda assumed it would be like this. Doing it to every current holder world cause massive, overnight chaos. I doubt Trump wants that under his name. It's a good first step though.
People frame it as chickening out, but chances are this was the plan all along. Still a huge net positive compared to 48 hours ago. Keep pushing and keep applying pressure. No reason to doom too hard over this.
Possibly, remember the amount of times the media announced something in regards to immigration and Trump later did the opposite after someone like Tom Homan said nah?
The amount of White Socialists coping and seething right now that Trump just announced a massive victory against mass migration (one of fucking many), and is in direct conflict with "street shitting pajeets" is really telling.
Its as if the key point about White Socialism is the Socialism, rather than the White.
The only people more pissed off about this are the pajeets themselves who are freaking out that they might have to... live in India. ... It's as if they want the benefits of the west, while making no effort to improve or change anything, or are so ignorantly racist that they think that Indians have no issues, and so the reason everyone shits in the streets is because "The British Empire was a Bloody Bastard Bitch Lasagna".
Hilariously, Modi doesn't have an issue with this.

This is maybe 5 steps in the right direction, even if it is rolled back completely, it's still a single step in the right direction because it makes the status of H1-b indians a battleground employers and multy cultys have to admit is no longer "settled science" so to speak.
Even if we have to resort to cope, it's still something. And something is better than nothing.
I hope it doesn't get rolled back though and a few employers/hiring managers get arrested.
Grandfathering in existing older rules isn't unusual. Even Great "oi, you got a loisence for dat?" Britain lets you (how generous) have 100 year old weapons without adhering to new policy.
This is not fair to the people like me who went to school for STEM technology, and now 63% of the people getting tech jobs are foreign workers. Trying to apply for a job when there are 500 applicants is disheartening.
While I dislike it, this does make sense. It is pretty uncommon for sweeping changes such as this to be retroactively applied.
But there is a pressing need for this to be retroactive.

That's what I thought it would be anyway. But Mondays new applicants will have to pay is just what I thought.
Did anyone actually expect something different?
I was told I needed to clap like a trained seal over this instead of being skeptical and demanding it be far more punitive. Now we see it get defanged and I want my "I told you so".
I mean that is the daily ritual of all things concerning Trump.
Making it apply to everyone immediately would be insane. Let's be real.
No, it would be entirely sensible.
What's insane is the existing system that's been left in place for years as it spreads ruin throughout our society.

We're already at Weimar.
You're skeptical of anything Trump does but totally willing to believe an anonymous source posted to a leftist site

I expected him to cancel it completely.

Exactly. Politico is NOT a valid source for news

What do these doomers want, another Luigi Mangione or Shane Devon Tamura?
I bet you had to look that second name up. There's a reason they don't want you knowing why he did that.
Possibly, remember the amount of times the media announced something in regards to immigration and Trump later did the opposite after someone like Tom Homan said nah?
I'll wait till it's in writing at this point..

What is this delusional nonsense lol
You can keep lying to yourself and others, it doesn't change that these are good changes.
No he's correct. The groypers have been on full defense for literal communists the past week.
90.1% of Indians live on less than $10 a day and that's PPP adjusted. lol

You're right. It seems rough.
Maybe they should fucking assimilate then.
Gotta love trump cucking again. To china over everything, now to india over saaars.
Next up, he cucks to the left and gets shot at again.
Good job!
TACO yet again.
Did he ever actually say it would apply to everyone immediately?

The EO was written like this. The text has been available for everyone to read since a couple days ago.
Of course. Because why should we get what we want? Explains why the big companies were OK with it... They will pay the fee.
