I think Nintendo might be done. It's clear that having a finance bro instead of a gamer at the helm of the company is steering them in the wrong direction.
yep, I loved Nintendo but over the last year the only thing I ever played on the switch was splatoon. after breath of the wild, I could not be bothered for tears of the kingdom. the other mainline Nintendo games felt like $20 bargain games sold at full price. the high price tag of the switch 2 and the new Mario kart made me wait for something to convince me to spend the money, and I have still yet to be convinced.
the worst part? all of their games are now open world slop. the new Mario kart, the new donkey kong, the new metroid, the new splatoon. I don't care how good they do the open world formula, I am so sick and tired of it.
I just need an indie Dev to make a proper Ocarina of Time knockoff so I can check out from nintendo entirely. we've already got good FZero, Starfox, Metroid, and Mario knockoffs.

Its hilarious to me that Nintendo thinks so highly of themselves they refuse to ever price cut their games, and in the case of re-releases will raise the price for no notable reason.
Like, I'd probably have triple the Switch games I do as a lot of their games are marginally interesting looking and I'd probably enjoy them. But I'm not spending 60$ on a 5 year old game that I'm only kind of wanting. And in that, they've probably lost absurd potential sales and support.
They live off the idea that their games are "must haves" and everyone will rush to buy them instantly, and in many cases that seems to work. But that tower can only last so long if they keep raising prices to offset inflation for themselves, while the rest of us stay the same.
Dodge v. Ford Motor Co., 204 Mich 459; 170 NW 668 (1919), is a case in which the Michigan Supreme Court held that Henry Ford had to operate the Ford Motor Company in the interests of its shareholders, rather than in a manner for the benefit of his employees or customers. It is often taught as affirming the principle of "shareholder primacy" in corporate America, although that teaching has received some criticism.
It's not like she can roll into a ball already, and, with the speed boost and the shinespark, travel at (Mach 1.1 with speed boost alone x 2 =) Mach 2.2, or anything.
Unfortunately, Switch 2 still seems to be selling like crazy. I have been on a waiting list for months -- at this rate probably won't become more widely available until next year.
You know what a game of isolation, exploration, discovery and triumph needs?
An open world section with a motorcycle.
Said no one ever.
It's not just the motorcycle. How does every other metroid game play out?
You're alone. You get power ups, you gain new abilities, get into tougher areas, fight bosses. It's all claustrophobic and contained. Each zone has a purpose. Each area feels unique.
There's no way the open world sections with the motorcycle are going to feel memorable. They will be travel sections to get from A to B. I'll be pleasantly surprised if anything is there to get off the bike and collect then continue on.
AKA active loading screens that Mario Kart and others have been doing for years now. Everyone remember all the elevators in the first Mass Effect? Same story.
Samus travels in a very fast, very nimble spaceship, and has a power-suit able to move at super-sonic speeds. A motorcycle is... a bizarre choice. Unless you're thinking first of merchandising.
Samus can turn into a ball and literally roll around everywhere she needs to get on the ground, so she doesn't need a bike which would actually have less mobility since it can only ever move forwards and backwards as well as not fit through spaces Samus already squeezes into when in ball mode.
She also had a spaceship, so she really doesn't need a bike to get anywhere else.
This is retarded.

Where might I learn more about this?
AM2R is the only metroid I've been interested in since Fusion back on the Gameboy Advance.
FZero: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2160360/Aero_GPX/
Starfox: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1921490/Wild_Blue/ (it's technically not out yet, but it looks promising and has everything Star Fox had, furries and all)
Metroid: AM2R, Hollow Knight/SilkSong, Ender Lillies
Mario: A Hat in Time (yea it's tranny devs, but it's a solid game and feels like a proper sequel to Mario 64)
Those... actually look quite interesting. Last time I played any of the inspirational games were F-Zero GX and Lylat Wars.
I'm not finding myself disagreeing with them, have to say.

He's doing a barrel roll!
Except that was never actually a barrel roll but it's still the meme, so that's some sensible marketing screenshot wise.

Only game I'm getting for the Switch this year is a physical copy of Terminator 2D. Can't think of anything else worth it on the Switch 1 or 2.
Nintendo: Hey, do you guys love open world games? What do you mean "Well, I'm a bit tired of them to be honest"? We're making yet another one.
"They were popular 5 years ago."
"Yes, thats how long it takes us to make a game now because we're that behind the times we can only react to the market rather than innovate it."
It's not like she can roll into a ball already, and, with the speed boost and the shinespark, travel at (Mach 1.1 with speed boost alone x 2 =) Mach 2.2, or anything.
I have never played a Metroid game and thought "You know what would make this better? A bike!".
WTF is going on at Nintendo?
i could see a use for it if it's like a big open world, but why not use the ship then.
With the ship they could have made a fun Macross-style mini-game similar to Nier: Automata.
When Nintendo does well, they get arrogant. They make a GameCube or Wii U. When they get desperate, they make a Switch, a Wii or a Nintendo.
Very true.
Unfortunately, Switch 2 still seems to be selling like crazy. I have been on a waiting list for months -- at this rate probably won't become more widely available until next year.
Metroid: Nuts and Bolts
Metroid looks like a pretty cool guy.

they gave Samus a penis
What's the problem?
Samus travels in a very fast, very nimble spaceship, and has a power-suit able to move at super-sonic speeds. A motorcycle is... a bizarre choice. Unless you're thinking first of merchandising.
Samus can turn into a ball and literally roll around everywhere she needs to get on the ground, so she doesn't need a bike which would actually have less mobility since it can only ever move forwards and backwards as well as not fit through spaces Samus already squeezes into when in ball mode.
She also had a spaceship, so she really doesn't need a bike to get anywhere else.
also, a motorcycle is a vehicle for urban travel
I'm not aware of any Metroid games set in an urban area
spez: also motorcycles require roads and Metroid games are set on undeveloped alien planets
Incoming boss fight where Ridley drives a 16-wheeler.
If Samus had wheels she would've been a bike.
