yep, I loved Nintendo but over the last year the only thing I ever played on the switch was splatoon. after breath of the wild, I could not be bothered for tears of the kingdom. the other mainline Nintendo games felt like $20 bargain games sold at full price. the high price tag of the switch 2 and the new Mario kart made me wait for something to convince me to spend the money, and I have still yet to be convinced.
the worst part? all of their games are now open world slop. the new Mario kart, the new donkey kong, the new metroid, the new splatoon. I don't care how good they do the open world formula, I am so sick and tired of it.
I just need an indie Dev to make a proper Ocarina of Time knockoff so I can check out from nintendo entirely. we've already got good FZero, Starfox, Metroid, and Mario knockoffs.
Where might I learn more about this?
AM2R is the only metroid I've been interested in since Fusion back on the Gameboy Advance.

Those... actually look quite interesting. Last time I played any of the inspirational games were F-Zero GX and Lylat Wars.

Except that was never actually a barrel roll but it's still the meme, so that's some sensible marketing screenshot wise.
Its hilarious to me that Nintendo thinks so highly of themselves they refuse to ever price cut their games, and in the case of re-releases will raise the price for no notable reason.
Like, I'd probably have triple the Switch games I do as a lot of their games are marginally interesting looking and I'd probably enjoy them. But I'm not spending 60$ on a 5 year old game that I'm only kind of wanting. And in that, they've probably lost absurd potential sales and support.
They live off the idea that their games are "must haves" and everyone will rush to buy them instantly, and in many cases that seems to work. But that tower can only last so long if they keep raising prices to offset inflation for themselves, while the rest of us stay the same.
Only game I'm getting for the Switch this year is a physical copy of Terminator 2D. Can't think of anything else worth it on the Switch 1 or 2.
