Right-wing 'influencers', such as Ian Miles Cheong, got caught grifting again, this time for Big Soda about being able to use food stamps to buy soda (xcancel.com)

There never was anything organic about some random Malaysian being a right wing influencer from all the way on the other side of the globe. He's clearly just playing a role as controlled opposition.

He's clearly just playing a role as controlled opposition.

He's not. He's just hopping on whatever bandwagon he thinks is popular at the moment and will make him the most money.

That's some fishy Twitter algorithms that propped him up initially

Nah, he's just very good at grifting. Similar to Grummz.

Is Grummz a grifter? He comes off to me more as a mostly-normie who is well-intentioned but has no idea what time it is.

– horstshort 1 point 1 year ago +1 / -0

Yes, he is. Grummz has one talent. Sweet talking people into giving him money and not only never delivering on his promises but wasting said money by being one of the most incompetent assholes on the planet and his retarded ideas.

He crashed Firefall and Red 5 Studios through his complete incompetence as a CEO even though he wants you to believe the evil chinks, who he talked into buying R5S in the first place, were at fault. Problem with that fairytale is that Firefalls development stalled while he was CEO because core systems were re-designed every 4-6 months or simply completely removed on a whim of his (PvP battlegrounds) and he wasted millions on pet projects of his. Once he finally got fired as CEO the development of the game actually made serious progress but unfortunately the damage was already done. The hype was dead, many of Firefalls long-time supporter jumped ship had already jumped ship (that includes me) and the chinks cut their losses in the end.

When he got fired he immediately turned around and scammed the retards who believed him with his new 'project' Em-8er.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKcgiX86lLU

He's an absolute cunt who no one should ever take serious let alone give money to.

I don't think anyone who spends that much time on Twitter can realistically present themselves as a game developer still.

He never was a game developer. Only an incompetent team lead aka manager.

I only know that he has a game he's shilling and that he has some history of working on WoW.

The Lotus Eaters did a great piece on him and others like him.

They're just engagement farming, because they never post anything substantial about what you're actually seeing, no dates, times or places just a vaguely inflammatory headline and title.

You'll never see anything beyond this in his posts. Once it's pointed out you can't unsee it. I just ignore his posts now.

His pivot right started with him leaking chats with Zoe Quinn and other SJWs.

He was part of a group of literal Neo-Nazis online way back, then tried to "repent" by going hard into SJWs before seeing that GG had way more grift potential so he flipped to "our side" during GG's heyday.

So he never had any side or loyalty, just grift.

I’m all for having the freedom to eat unhealthy on your own dime but when you are receiving a check from someone else they can put whatever restrictions on the money that that want. I remember years back when I was unemployed I stayed with my brother and his wife until I got a job and could get my own place. He was big on health and fitness and didn’t charge me much for rent but he required I worked out 4 days a week minimum. I thought it was weird to ask that but I had no choice

He knew the lifestyle hack: no one works out 3+ times a week and remains an unemployed piece of shit lol

Generalizing, of course ;)

Or give Smith enough disincentive to live with his bro rent-free forever. It's easy to fall into the unemployment rut of weed and video games if you never leave the house. Just look at COVID.

I got a temp to hire job shortly after moving in but needed to save up enough to get my own apt. At the time I would’ve loved to have played video games all day but my brother wouldn’t have allowed it

I like that story. On the one hand, I think it's a tad pushy...but in a pretty dang wholesome and caring way. And, like you said, his place, his rules.

We need more of that personal responsibility attitude.

These statements are one of my least favorite styles of argument; completely disingenuous, and using phrasing to essentially beg the question, and then argue for the exact opposite of what you claim to be doing.

Let people decide for themselves.

That's what this does! The government buying people soda with my money without my choice was the lack of letting people decide for themselves.

...force needy Americans into not buying certain things.

Same issue. Individuals don't buy things via SNAP, taxpayers buy things for people, at gunpoint. Also, no one "needy" needs a fucking soda.

Let people think and decide for themselves.

Yes. They can decide for themselves if they want to buy a soda. With their money.

Violation of personal choice.

Nope, again, this is a (partial) rollback of violation of personal choice, by the government.

The government needs to stop over regulation what American can or cannot do.

Correct, but that's not what's happening here. You. Can. Still. Buy. Soda.

THE GOVERNMENT (TAXPAYERS) PAYING FOR YOUR SHIT IS NOT A HUMAN RIGHT.

Remember when NYC tried this and it completely backfired?

No, because they didn't. They tried something completely different, that was actually retarded government overreach that actually infringed on personal choice. They tried to tell people what they could buy with their own money.

This whole pile of bullshit is right out of a lefty playbook. It's the argument they use with abortion, troons in the military and, probably the most apt comparison, "book bans."

Let me say it again:

THE GOVERNMENT (TAXPAYERS) PAYING FOR YOUR SHIT IS NOT A HUMAN RIGHT.

I don’t get how they don’t see the distinction with buying it with their own money vs using the taxpayers money

They're an influence pushing company. They don't care about pesky little things like facts, they care if they can convince the average dumbass.

"Is it true?" doesn't factor into it. "Will it sell?" is the only question that matters.

Many leftists on a fundamental level believe the government is their master. You don't have money, the government has money it allows you to use. They see food stamps as free money. They're serfs, mentally.

Wasn't the big thing with using food stamps to buy junk food like soda wasn't them consuming it but selling it on for less so they can get money for drugs and alcohol?

I might be getting that mixed up with what shoplifters are also doing but I swear that's an issue with food stamps too.

Soda was the most commonly flipped item. It was reported on years ago, people pushed carts of soda out of the Walmart and then rolled them right down the street to the sketchy convenience store that paid them pennies and put the soda on their own shelves.

Tide was a big ghetto currency, that's why it had to get locked up, but that was a shoplifting problem not a food stamp problem.

– Hellsbells00 5 points 1 year ago +5 / -0

If they could handle money responsibly without restriction they probably wouldn't be on welfare to begin with. Welfare like food stamps isn't "gimmedat money". It's a tool to provide specific basic needs for the disadvantaged or incompetent.

"Trump had a soda can!"

Yea, faggots, he can buy it himself.

Here's something a lot of people don't realize. The White House is not free for the President. The residence is but nothing else is. You want groceries? That's on you. Laundry? Your dime. Diet coke? Yep.. the President absolutely paid for that.

Video games are hugely made in America, so I can forgive people in other countries for caring about whatever is going on around them even if they live on the otherside of the globe with no other horse in the race.

But I don't even remember IMC actually being much of a gamer to begin with, he seemed to be in it entirely for politics which circles back to exactly what you said.

I still can't believe that bar got threatened by a Chunibomber and/or fan. At least it wasn't too cold while we all got herded out for "a fire drill".... while there were like six cop cars outside.
