People who argued against the restoration said protecting African-American children is the number one priority.

Yeah, just admitting it out loud with no shame. I thought African American was out of vogue now?

It never should have been renamed. Fucking Yankees should mind their own business.

I feel like the only harm being done to black children occurs when people tell them they’re supposed to be harmed by the school’s name.

I feel like the only harm being done to black children occurs when people tell them they’re supposed to be harmed by the school’s name.

Or that you shouldn't be too "white." Where that means...being smart. Being on time. Being articulate. Having impulse control. Not being insanely violent. The list goes on.

Our current system of, uh, racial balance, tells blacks they should be separate from whites, that whites are better than them, that they're oppressed and should feel resentful and defeated, and any chance to improve themselves is racial treason.

And yet they call people like us racist and supremacist.

Progressivism is insane death cult cancer on society.

Even if you want to go the genetic route and say blacks are inherently inferior...they don't have to be as inferior as the "anti-racists" are teaching them to be. It's insane, and very sad.

Outside of the fringe of extreme racists, the "progressive" side is doing much, much more harm to blacks than any white supremacist could. Hell, even including the fringe racists, progressives do more harm since, well, fringe. "Racists" might be mean or whatever, but they don't have any power. Progressives do. And they seem intent on ruining black people.

Or that you shouldn't be too "white."

I'll make a more succinct definition for "acting White." I'll call it "being civilized", because Africa was still in the stone age prior to Europeans arriving.

The continent has been noticeably improved by the people who've gone there. Too bad the natives will let it fall apart as soon as they're left unsupervised, but that will be a problem for them.

My mom once said she’d love to ask these people how a long dead confederate general is holding them back. Also, aren’t these the people who want history to be known? Relevant to the local area. I grew up in Oklahoma and there was a lot of stuff named after Native Americans, so in the south it shouldn’t be surprising to have stuff named for confederate soldiers.

One of the few "concessions" the Yankees gave the South during Reconstruction was to allow statues of their soldiers. To honor their sacrifice and valor, so they haven't died in vain.

Of course, now that everyone from the Civil War is long dead, and their descendants thoroughly propagandized, the Northern aggressors reneged on that deal as well.

Just amazes me to see people get so worked up over it. Go to any area and the names/monuments will reflect the history. I’ve lived in Texas half my life and you have a mix of confederate history along with Spain/Mexican history since it was once a part of Mexico.

I remember learning about those concessions. Funny story, recently someone got on my case for saying I want to binge Dukes of Hazard since I haven’t seen it since I was a little kid. They asked me if I was aware what the flag on the car was lol

Where I grew up black families fly Confederate Flags just the same as white ones.

Explaining that to "anti-racist" people outside the South is like teaching a toddler calculus. Just blank stares.

Because there were a lot of black Confederates. The Union Army treated freed slaves as captured war materiel and used them as combat engineers in the face of the enemy. A chunk of the "freed" slaves defected back to Confederate lines.

I’m actually going to visit some distant white relatives later this year that I met via ancestry.com. Our common ancestor was a confederate plantation owner in Alabama. I guess I could technically join the group

Back when I was a kid, we didn't take sides in the Civil War. Those were all Americans. And far enough removed from any of us, except maybe in family stories, that we had a certain distance from the conflict. Some people today act like they're in it.

Leftists really think that white Southerners are all conspiring to insult black people, that spiting black people is what white Southern life revolves around. Probably because spite is what drives leftists, everything they do is an underhanded middle finger, so they assume that everyone else operates the same way.

In any event, thank god the right is finally starting to grow a spine again. Everyone who said the erasure of Confederate symbols would lead to a slippery slope was immediately vindicated when only a few years down the line the 1619 Project came out of nowhere, and suddenly what academic historians think stopped mattering.

When academic historians say that slavery was the primary cause of the civil war, you can't dispute that because "trust the experts." But when some crazy bitch posts a bunch of crap that academic historians regard as crackpot revisionism and refuse to give the crazy lady a professorship, the NYT threatens the uni with riots to force their hand.

And once Confederate symbols became socially unacceptable, the "deplorables" started to just dial American symbols up to eleven, so they had to contrive how that's somehow racist too. But where there's at least a kernel of truth in the claim that the Confederacy was founded to preserve slavery (albeit one that gets spun out into what would be dismissed as a "conspiracy theory" in any other context), the notion that the US itself was founded to preserve slavery is just batshit.

I use Confederate erasure as a litmus test for who's a real nigga on the right vs who's a fake-ass bitch nigga. Because we saw in real time symbols that had long grown innocuous and even charming suddenly become extreme taboos, after a very small group of people decided that they're no longer acceptable. A characteristically dishonest media blitz founded on gravestanding being pushed relentlessly by a bunch of psychopathic ghouls in order to make mundane fixtures of Southern and redneck culture into something that's only allowed to be interpreted as having the most sinister hidden meaning, and like the cowards they are Con Inc allowed this brazen campaign of social engineering to proceed unchallenged.

Confederate symbolism needs to be brought back, as a way of showing that we won't let the vampires pervert symbols of pride and virtue into symbols of evil. Being able to grasp that a symbol can evolve beyond the most autistic literalist interpretation thereof is the crux of so much leftist bullshit, there's a lot of power in being able to frame anyone who disagrees with them as necessarily harboring a sinister ulterior motive. And Con Inc gave them the power to do that.

Well said.

Leftists really think that white Southerners are all conspiring to insult black people, that spiting black people is what white Southern life revolves around.

...Having lived in the North, and in the South for an extended period of time, I find it rather telling that I interact with Black Americans more here in Texas than when I lived in Iowa. Most of the time, people get along just fine. White, Black, Hispanic, Asian, whatever.

Of course, if you pay attention to the clothes a lot of these Leftists wear, the cars they drive, etc. you start to see what's really going on. Rich and upper-middle class brats mad at Mommy and Daddy with a romanticized/fetishised view of the Working Class, but too rich to actually interact with the Filthy Proles.

If you see a contradiction in that last statement, good. That's the point.

But because all their friends are "communists," they can't actually come out and say, "I don't really like poor people," so they project that contempt onto other issues and call us all racists so they look good.

Off-topic, but Hell, one of the reasons I like Donald Trump is that in spite of his wealth and life of comfort, he seems to actually like and respect working class people. He's totally at ease around the working class.

Just my two bits.

It's not even that he likes working class people.

It's just that he doesn't constantly shit on them like all the other beltway blowhards.

That simple little distinction is all he needed.

That's why they (at least the lower-tier lefties not pulling the strings) were unable to comprehend the Unite the Right protest and thought "good people on both sides" was a racist dog whistle. It started out as locals just wanting to preserve history.

The left pushed too far and now the right/normal is pushing back.

Also "Mountain View" is such a generic name- I looked up the school and the "mountains" you can see to me look more like really big hills. Plus it's already located on STONEWALL Lane so if "Stonewall Jackson High School" is so triggering the kids still have to see the name Stonewall going there anyways.

The county Seattle resides in is King County. I honestly can't remember what it was before, except that it was probably an English Explorer or Native chief. I mean, Seattle was a chief, as was Tacoma, Yakima, and others.

They renamed it in the early 00's.

It's worse than that.

They renamed it in the early '00s from King County to (Martin Luther) King County. Then they patted themselves on the backs for being so Progressive.

Pure virtue signaling.

And Seattle is so cloudy and white even the black guys are pale. We only give a street that name of we know it's a ghetto area.

I've tried to explain to my wife how Seattle was destroyed but she has a hard time seeing it. I watched it in slow motion.
