“Therapy” has become a buzzword for paying some hack who will constantly enable your poor life choices as long as you keep signing checks. Remember, it’s not your fault!

Fun fact: psychologists/therapists are more mentally ill than the general population.

Because the field is dominated by leftist women, who are far more likely than the general population to have been diagnosed with a mental illness.

I wonder if you need mental issues to be lefty, or if being lefty just makes people act in ways that causes them harm. Or both, really.

There is a reason why there is a Freshman level course that spends half its class time on "fix your shit first, trust the system you want to join."

Because its such an issue that even the hugbox that is the Psyche major has trouble with it.

Every single chick I was friends with in high school, who had issues, went on to be some form of therapist.

When I was in undergrad I noticed a trend that people with mental issues flocked to the psych major. My guess is that they were seeking answers to their own problems.

Psychology today is so corrupted that I'd find it hard to trust anyone I love to a therapist.

All of psychology is corrupted. Over 2/3 of psychological studies can't be replicated, which means they fake. And I'm guessing it is a lot higher than that just by looking at a study's sample size and where/how those samples were obtained. The whole "science" is based on made up shit. It is fitting that Freud is the most well known psychologist since nothing he said or believed and none of his analysis of humans turned out to be true.

Not all psychology is false, though. Carl Jung had some seriously good ideas.

What they go to can barely even qualify as therapy, its just affirmation sessions that they are special and different.

You can tell how low of a bar it is, by the fact that they think BetterHelp, and other online counseling services, are a viable product that is able to keep in business despite its controversies.

Therapy in general is a means to an end, not a qualifier. If you don't have a goal to achieve and are making steps towards doing so in each handful of session, then its a useless money sink. Anyone who thinks "maintenance" therapy is a thing is trying to sell you something, usually that they aren't broken and wasting money. It might have value on the far end after you've gotten somewhere and have a strong rapport with your therapist, but few people reach that point. Worse, they instead "become friends" with them instead.

Most importantly. One of the cornerstones of therapy is the secrecy of it. There are so many laws and rules about it that it boggles the mind. If you are constantly talking about it and what you are doing in it, you are showing everyone how little you are getting out of it. As if it was working, you wouldn't need the accolades and applause from your clear mental defects.

Maintenance therapy is not in any way better than praying or journaling. There is merit in collecting your thoughts. Anyone who is not functionally retarded can profit from collecting their thoughts, seeing some pattern and just making connections. Now, that doesn't work on 70 IQ retards who spent decades drugged up or other NPC cretins, but whatever.

It's just sad that yet again, we took something that was for free and something you could do easily for yourself with minimal effort and made it into a business. I'm not trying to rant about capitalism or anything, I just find it funny how leftists prop up something like this.
Then again, they preach about self care, meanwhile they think actually being self-sufficient is white supremacy and sexism and heteronormative oppression.

Iirc back when it was a brand new field the psychs were saying exactly that. Lit. that it could be a means of providing the benefits that come with confession to a non-confessional (be it because Protestant or otherwise) population.

Therapy in general is just more of the snake oil that modern healthcare sells, only this time they don’t even bother to give you snake oil.

I've got a degree in it and was able to be licensed back in the day (I'm too out of date with my "continued education" to still be), so I can speak with experience that there is validity and value in it.

The problem is that 28/30 students in every class learning to be a Therapist is a dumb girl who is barely qualified to work a cash register, let alone help people with mental and emotional issues. So the quality of the industry has dropped to rock bottom to a point where its barely worth supporting.

Its like comic books. We all know a character or a storyline that is amazing and proof that a comic/character can work, but the modern crop is so painfully bad that nobody cares.

So apparently this is what passes for "national conversation". A bunch of maladjusted leftards (you know they're leftards if they're participating in this crap) using words they learned in therapy to try to control each other and avoid handling basic social situations like adults.

With the TikTok-ification of therapy, some believe therapy-speak has backfired to the point where people are deploying this sensitive language in meaningless or manipulative ways.

No fucking shit. Did you think these clowns were serious about self improvement?

"People should focus on what is within their control to do or change instead of putting it on other people," she said.

Why would they do that? The reason these freaks are in therapy in the first place is so they can lord it over everyone else and talk down to them. They're shit bags who don't plan on changing.

Now, I went to a therapist for a few times, because I was having anxiety issues so bad I couldn't sleep or eat. Not feeling icky, full on sleeping maybe 2-3 hours a day.
I went maybe 3-ish times to talk about shit.

In theory, I am not 100000% against it. Then again, I feel she was a different kind of person. She did the thing leftoids avoid; told me to get more busy (I was applying to go to school then, plus got a bit of a side gig), get creative (always been that way, she asked me to work on whatever art I enjoy and show her in a few weeks what I made), do something that makes me happy that involves not just myself (I told her I was in the process of adopting a dog, which she approved of and I did).
Basically she said "Yes, these things happened to you and it makes sense you have issues like anxiety and just fear of certain situations, but doing stuff to feel more in control will help you".

I saw it a way to organise my thoughts concerning certain events in my life, then getting told (nicely, mind you) that I need to do stuff. Then again, it doesn't work on people who refuse to do things. That's the main issue.
What I see in lefty online spaces is congratulating yourself for absolute minimal effort. Like drinking water. No joke. It's a good thing to do, you can even be happy about it on like day 1. But celebrating nothing constantly just makes you stuck and not extend yourself more, which makes it impossible to get better.

Yeah, I appreciated her. I don't like being babied and that feel good "do nothing, society and people need to change so you are comfortable sucking", but I will be honest, super tough love of being yelled down AngryCops style also doesn't work for me. I'm a sensitive bitch.

This isn't exactly a new phenomena. More or less dates back to the 90's, when therapy was became an especially popularized and trendy thing.

But I'm sure it's only gotten insanely worse given the kind of buzzword bullshit that's been fabricated in the last decade alone.

The headline and the idea of therapy-speak to fight with each other... I just get flashbacks to Doki Doki Literature Club: "Have you tried killing yourself? It might help your mental well-being."

Psychobabble. "x-speak" or "x-culture" is are oft enough soft, inch-deep mannerisms belonging to the personalities the authors are complaining about, because they are part of that world. Minimize your exposure to people who mimic network TV sitcoms (friends, how i met your mother) like you would those that embrace Eubonics or Valleyspeak lest you start mirroring them.
