Lil' Ronnie's campaign was derailed by him being caught between the competing donor interests and voter interests. He lacks the charisma to play the game to appease both.
Desantis has unfortunately done too many mistakes that he's now 3rd in the race, this being a further one as he's campaigning like he's in the national election, NOT like he's in the nomination battle.
That's why Trump dominated in 2016 compared to his competition as he focused on Republican voters only, focused his attacks on his nomination rivals then switched to Hillary and a more national message. He can get most of his credibility back if he drops out and supports Trump now for a 2028 run, learning lessons from this of what not to do.

He only got half as big as he was by doing the exact things he needed to to get noticed and look like a Republican that could vaguely accomplish something.

When the boomers die off, there is no significant body of conservatives left in the country. The majority of children in the US are 1st-3rd gen minorities who are overwhelmingly leftists. Millennials and adult gen z's are a bunch of worthless cucks, who are also largely leftists.
The remainder would likely never again refer to themselves as conservative.

I think DeSantis is still #2, but he's falling fast, which is never a good sign for a politician. Vivek is the only one really climbing, although Pence is recovering slightly after his disastrous showing. If someone were to take #2 spot, it's going to be Vivek though.
Personally, I still don't trust Vivek, but he's actually said some really good stuff. I don't want him, but I'm glad he exists to say what he's saying.
I just can't vote for Vivek, he's not American no matter what his passport says. Pence sucks, DeSantis has a lot of shady stuff about him, but at the same time Trump has not done enough for me to love him. I'm this close to just not voting for any of these lads. I currently would still vote for Trump over the rest, but I just really do not like our options at all.

Besides, that forces them to step up their stealing and make it more blatant - which undermine their legitimacy. Rather than giving up, folks need to use the tools they have in order to always make the (legal) moves that the regime doesn't want. That is the way autocratic regimes get undermined.
