Elon Musk cuts starlink to Ukrainian military after they use it to guide drones and bombs in direct violation of agreements. Numpties of Reddit try an 'axshully' defense for the blue and yellow nazis, but even the casual redditard isn't having it. (archive.ph)

it's incredible how pro-ukraine reddit is. Literally videos of russian soldiers getting blown to bits (or now being gassed with chemical weapons) on the front page, and redditors think it's somehow normal and good.

Violence & hate aren't welcome on reddit unless it's in favor of jewish globohomo, then it's gold stars and updooterinos for literal war crime porn.

For blue team people, everything is a strict friend/enemy binary and they get firmware updates about which ones are friends and which ones are enemies almost instantly now. Anybody who argues with them gets vaporized, especially people who only agree with 99% of their opinions on things.

The media in Europe is heavily state controlled+pro war propaganda.

That is the way firmware updates are pushed out to the NPCs I believe.

I think that we flatter ourselves with the belief that mankind has somehow fundamentally advanced past things like burning witches and the Spanish Inquisition.

What the last two years have taught me is that there is absolutely nothing different between your everyday Joe in 2020 and in 1520. Only the technology has changed. It's frighteningly easy to whip up a mob of NPCs into the modern day version of a witch burning, and they lack even the basic introspection that would let them see the parallel.

Ukrainians are the most "anti-vaxx" nation in Europe.

More so than Russians too.

They also commonly and openly hate faggots (pidary, which is the get-go insult for everyone).

I am not talking about Ukrainians, but pro-Ukrainian westerners, specifically from the US

They also commonly and openly hate faggots

again, Im talking about the pro-LGBTQ west, specifically the US.

Then again the Ukrainians who are pro-NATO are indirectly opening themselves up to both state mandated LGBTQ, and WHO vax mandates/lockdowns/orders, and also ESG climate lockdowns/orders..... which is coming to Ukraine, as said by Zelensky himself proudly proclaiming Blackrock will be instrumental in the funding of rebuilding Ukraine.

Also, Ukrainians are the most religious Christian nation in Europe, much more so than Russians, who are mostly either atheist (de facto or self declared) or Muslim (quite some Buddhists too, especially among Russian Mongols). Especially the Western Ukranians, and the Eastern Ukrainians are least religious (Centrals being mid).

These guys both Russian immigrants/exiles and the Russian "ultranationalists" as they call them in the West (the bogeyman of so much West fiction of the last few decades, like the whole COD saga where they they're the baddies while the Russian government are good guys, funny that) but they associate with Azov with no problem at all.

And speaking of them MisDiv gentlemen, I swear it's not me actually: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CvJWDHLXEAEeYr2.jpg (that's what u/AntonioOfVenice now actually believes).

The people who care the most are the Ukrainians. Including the types unlikely to just come from u/Ukraine, which is most probaly the very reddit lib central as usual with subs of this kind, but also even, you know, these very same "Nazis" from this thread's title.

It's like most Azov guys are Ukrainian, and there's actually more Russians and Belarusians (a lot, including hardcore Nazis like Wotanjugend)in their ranks than people from the West. The psycho squad Misanthropic Division is heavily Western but it's like a couple dozen guys at most (out of tens of thousands).

Young people in Ukraine commonly speak English and of course are on the internet.

Let me correct myself (and this source), actually it was over 2/3 of Rada deputies:

Over 300 members of the 424-seat Ukrainian parliament have signed up to an interfactional association called “Values. Dignity. Family.”

The group has declared that its mission is to adopt laws to protect family values, popularize conservatism in Ukraine, and “resist attempts to undermine natural law for the sake of political trends.”

Specifically, the conservative caucus of lawmakers wants to tackle demographic issues and so-called “social evils” such as high divorce rates, abandonment of children, and abortion, Sviatoslav Yurash, an MP and leading founder of the group told the Kyiv Post.

“We understand that to tackle those social evils we need to cooperate with institutions that work with those groups (of the society). Ukrainian churches are by far the biggest social care provider,” he said.

“Life of the unborn should be discussed more seriously in Ukraine,” he added later.

In his words, supporting family values means promoting family cohesion, childcare, and family-building.

The idea for such a union of lawmakers in the legislature, he said, has been driven by increasing global debate over family values and marriage rights, as well as the clash between liberalism and conservatism.

“Various groups that are trying to claim legitimacy from some Western institutions claim that there is a fundamental consensus globally, and we have to get on with it, as if there is no other point of view,” Yurash said. “There is a very strong, very structured conservative point of view in the West. And it’s very important that this point is also transmitted into Ukraine.”

I think by "the West" they meant Poland, which had just banned practically all abortion.

The mentioned demographic trends in Ukraine were really bad. Like among the Russian Slavs, and having few multiplying Muslims unlike Russia. (And very little immigration.)

The concept of the West wasn't formed with the EU. There's the West and then there's the East (the Orient).

England is just a part of the UK.

The post-WWII France is and always was highly anti-American culturally and politically (even you should remember the resulting very silly anti-French hysteria in America in 2003 symbolised by the idea of "freedom fries" instead of French fries).

Poland is one of the most pro-American countries in the entire world, both in government policy and by all governments (in 2003 too) and in public opinion alike. Rivaled only by a few like Kosovo or Vietnam. The Polish people are actually more pro-American than the Americans themselves, who often dislike or even hate their own country.

Current public opinions since the (full scale) war: https://www.pewresearch.org/global/2022/06/22/spotlight-on-poland-negative-views-of-russia-surge-but-ratings-for-u-s-nato-eu-improve/

Another clear beneficiary of the decline in ratings for Russia is the EU: It has received its highest rating in Poland (89%) since Pew Research Center began asking the question in 2007. And Poles are now much more likely than they were in 2018 to say that the EU understands the needs of Polish citizens and promotes democratic values, prosperity and peace. Fewer now also say that the EU is intrusive or inefficient. A majority (57%) says that the economic integration of Europe has strengthened the Polish economy.

More than three million Ukrainians have fled to Poland since Russia’s invasion, and eight-in-ten Poles now support taking refugees from countries where people are fleeing violence and war, up from 49% who held that view in 2018.

Not quite what you believe, I guess.

Are we in your "the West", now?

Also zoomers vs boomers (I'm about halfway between):

Attitudes toward Russia are negative across all demographic groups, but attitudes toward the U.S. and the EU are more favorable among Poles ages 18 to 29. Over half of 18- to 29-year-olds have a very favorable view of both the U.S. and the EU, compared with only about two-in-ten among Poles 65 and older. Similarly, younger Poles are much more likely than their older counterparts to say that the EU understands the needs of Polish citizens and that the EU is not intrusive.

America fuck yeah:

Poles are also optimistic that the U.S. would step in if a neighboring NATO ally was in a military conflict with Russia. Roughly two-thirds (66%) believe the U.S. would use military force to defend the neighboring ally. Optimism about U.S. intervention on behalf of a NATO ally has increased by 19 points since 2019 and is the highest recorded since the question was first asked in 2015. Views on U.S. military intervention are similar among both men and women and those with differing views of Law and Justice.

Related, Biden enthusiasm:

In terms of Poland’s relationship with the U.S., the increase in favorable attitudes toward America coincides with a strong 82% confidence rating for U.S. President Joe Biden, a marked increase from the 51% who had confidence in former President Donald Trump in 2019.

Zelensky's very own party had proposed criminalizing "homosexual and transgender propaganda":

The most alarming signal of a change in the Servant of the People party’s approach to LGBT+ issues was a move to establish a parliamentary association named “Values. Dignity. Family”, which included almost 300 MPs.

In July, MPs Georgii Mazurashu and Olena Lys from Servant of the People party also registered a new draft bill banning “homosexual and transgender propaganda”.

It was in 2021.

It was also nearly 2/3 of all MPs in the entire Rada.

If he was a traitor to the nation, yes, of course the nationalists would depose him.

Which is very ironic since Putin believed how they would instantly depose Z out of their great love of Russia and desire to surrender. Or that he would just flee, as offered by the West as Russians were driving straight on Kyiv from 2 countries, and which he refused (just like Stalin didn't flee Moscow after some deliberation outside a train waiting for him, and the invaders were then repelled on the outskirts of Moscow just like they did in the suburbs of Kyiv, and a similar story with Izetbegovic in Sarajevo but the city center already, on the other hand Chiang did flee from Nanking and then it fell immediately, resulting in his main army and a lot of civs being captured and slaughtered practically without resistance - Warsaw was kind midway, as the national government fled the city and the country and the situation was hopeless, but the mayor remained to the end and led the defense even as "everyone" wanted to surrender: https://weekly.tvp.pl/63110549/everyone-was-in-favour-of-the-capitulation-of-warsaw-just-not-starzynski and the Germans executed him after the city fell).

Now, what would he need to do for you to not consider him a "grifter"?

An idea supported by a Russian nationalist named Anatoly Kartlin is Weaponized Kesslerization. Supposedly, it would be very easy for Russia to take out every single satellite in space. While Russia and China have satellites of their own, because the US has so many more, it would still be a blow against the imperials.

permalink save report block reply
▲ 12 ▼
– CatoTheElder 12 points 3 years ago +12 / -0

You got that backwards. Supposing that Russian had the capability to cause a Kessler cascade (huge assumption, there are more Starlink satellites than Russian missiles capable of reaching them), the altitude that Starlink operates at would be clear of debris within a few months.

At that point the nation with more launch capability would have the advantage. This last year SpaceX set the record for most launches in a year by a single entity, crushing the previous record which was held by the USSR for their Soyuz launches. They are bringing online the largest rocket ever built (static fired the day before yesterday) which is supposed to have 150 tones to LEO, more than the Saturn 5 or the N-1. Starship is on track to be launched in March.

Russia causing Kessler syndrome would hurt Russia more and for longer than it would hurt the US.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 5 ▼
– fauxgnaws 5 points 3 years ago +5 / -0

At Starlink altitude a Kessler syndrome would last many years. At 550 km debris on average will last about 10 years, but some debris gets boosted by collisions (which also extends the debris field to higher orbits).

Russia doesn't have to take out any satellites with missiles, they just put up a grapeshot debris cloud going the opposite way from a Starlink orbit and the whole train of them will smash into it; one launch could do that. The resulting debris field would take out all the other Starlink orbits in a short time.

But that's just Starlink. Any 1st world country that wanted to make any orbit unusable wouldn't have a hard time doing it and it wouldn't matter how much launch capability you have because none of your satellites would last for any practical amount of time. If you could get your satellites very far away they would be safe from debris, but much less useful and easy to destroy with other means.

▲ 2 ▼
– LauriThorne 2 points 3 years ago +2 / -0

What would be the point? Completely cripple GPS for everyone which would not give you an advantage because you're just as fucked, cripple international communication via satellite? The cables that run across the Atlantic are still there so that won't really work either.

It'd be a shit tactical choice which would be easily countered by putting GPS transmitters on high altitude drones and over flying the battlefield. The US pretty much always has air superiority and we had it before GPS navigation was a thing.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 1 ▼
– fauxgnaws 1 point 3 years ago +1 / -0

Why would Ukraine use Starlink for attacking Russia? Because they don't have any alternative. They can't fly GPS drones over their own country let alone Russia.

But Russia would probably just nuke the starlink sats with a laser if Elon didn't stop Ukraine from using it on drones.

Kessler would be for if Russia itself is under threat, which is another reason why it's dumb that we're fighting proxy WW3 right now.
